With or without Michael, Doobie Brothers are one of my favorites. Friend of mine in high school had horses she kept in the Santa Cruz mountains. One time, on an extended ride, a couple of guys on horses rode up to let her know that she was on their property. It was a couple of the Doobie Brothers members, Cornelius I think. Anyway, they were cool about it and didn’t ask her to leave. They just wanted to see who was on their property. Ahh, memories of the 70s 😍

They went from a Cali country rock band to a Cali r&b groove pop group. It was all good. I got arrested in a Doobie Brothers Farewell Tour Shirt, in 1984, that got mentioned in court by the HiwayTrollman. They're still touring. 41 years later. Long farewell.

Big fan of the Tommy Johnston version of the Doobies. First saw them in 72 or 73 at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake. They were the opening act for Three Dog Night and nobody knew who they were (when they were introduced we thought they said the Boobie Borthers lol). Couple of weeks later Listen To The Music hit the radio followed by Jesus Is Just Alright and then EVERYBODY knew who they were.

McDonald and Baxter first recorded this song in Baxter's apartment, using a Roland drum machine and Jeff's cheap keyboard. that's where the video game sound comes from. Producer Ted Templeman had the rest of the Doobies overdub their parts later.
