I don't understand how they fail to realize how much more money they'd make if they made heirlooms more affordable for the playerbase. If it's less expensive then more people would want to buy it, it'd generate more trust/respect from players, and that would generate much more money in the long term. But no, they chase the short term financial gain and lose out on both player respect AND money. That's what being blinded by greed does to these companies. It makes them oblivious to the better solution because all they understand is "Higher number is better!"

The problem is that for every 3 people that say they would buy, not guarantee, that they'd get a 50$ heirloom, there is somebody okay paying 150 or 300 for these. So as long as they are making a killing, it won't matter. And unfortunately voting with our wallets does NOTHING. All they see is "oh this type of item didn't work let's try a different heirloom type instead". On top of that, the allure of them helps sales. If they were cheaper and easier to get, people would not spend as much on packs

In Group A, I can estimate that out of the 100 people only 10-15 people would rationalize buying the heirloom at $160. That would come out to a revenue of $1600-$2400. However in Group B, I can estimate that out of the 100 people there'd be at least 40-50 people who would rationalize buying the heirloom at $60. That would come out to a revenue of $2400-$3000. Making something more accessible to the average consumer means that more players will be able to afford it and more revenue will be generated in turn. Not only that, but you'll ALSO have many players who can now purchase multiple heirlooms rather than just the one heirloom for their main legend of choice. It has a compounding effect on the amount of people buying them and the amount of revenue being generated. THIS IS EXACTLY MY POINT when I say that greed can blind you to better alternatives. When you're so focused on big dollar signs and making as much money as possible in the short term you miss out on making even more money in the long term by simply being more generous to the average consumer.

Sadly the marketing team of every company is always the most developed department, they know what they are doing. In simple terms people tend to not care about the price AFTER they decided that they will buy it; in other words the hardest part in selling something is making the customer want not the thing, but want to BUY the thing after that the price doesn’t matter as much. So selling something at a third of the price is only a risk for the company as even if just one out of three customers is fine buying is at triple the price (and that happens because of what I said before) is not worth lowering the price

As a Crypto main, I would've considered getting the heirloom just for the finisher, if the finisher was better. Default finisher: Asset Procurement - He grabs a USB like thing from the downed fellow, which has information which Crypto wants, he takes it, and then he's gone. The legendary finisher: Grab the downed fellow, have his drone scan the fellow for all their worth, while he's looking around to make sure no one's sneaking up on him, knocks him out and leaves. "Heirloom" finisher: "Heirloom - A memento of legacy" - Grab a blade that's fractured into pieces, assemble it, start "floating"/"jumping" while t-pose horizonal slash them (WHILE SPINNING MIND YOU). - It has nothing related to Crypto except the blade. The previous 2 finishers where all to "gather information" and just "knock out" - the "heirloom" finisher is not there for information, Crypto knows you're guilty, and he's there for the kill. But what does he do? An unassembled blade, slow kill, ineffective kill, no urgency or desperation from a fugitive, no caution, no rage against his assailant - just an expressionless ineffective kill. It just felt so disappointing. Bloodhound at least used technology, that which went against their principles from their youth, and combined new ways and the old ways of the hunter. Bangalore had an intimidating presence with brutal "Going in for the kill" with effortless execution, worthy of that of a soldier. Caustic with the unholy abomination of poison corroding flesh and bone to a mere sludge, fitting for toxic trapper. Valkyrie bringing a storm of blades to skewer the down foe with impunity. They can do whatever they want with cosmetics. Character heirlooms are great, but the target market is limited. Universal heirlooms are for everyone and if you dont want do do the collection events that are fine too since they are rng and expensive. the new materials for them seem cool since now you can get them along with the reactive skins using the currancy, but we dont know how much that will cost. I think they format the seasonal challenges for the flatline is meant for engagement along with the battle pass with a plus of earning the skins for a heavy discount to being free though playing. We are able to play the game for free. if you cant afford it then thats tough. Riot has been doing more stuff for the whales to make them feel more separated from the free to play/ small spenders. they had a 500 dollar jhin recolor you got from grab bags similar to how this current event is going.

Honestly, I really like Katar, especially that you can change the colour of it. Most of the artefacts are trash, that's not surprising at all, because what respawn is really unable to do is any skins. Which is shocking, but anyway. I don't wanna run around with 2 sushi-sticks for LL, so Katar is a great option instead.

Honestly I love the katar for the fact that I only had to get 1 heirloom for every legend. I get battlepass so I get the shards to upgrade it progressively every season

I used to buy every heirloom, no you couldn't give me the money to buy them... Used to be events every 4-5 months, now they're every other week

TBH a lot of this should be core content, like the deathboxes. Why put something so unavailing behind such a ridiculous paywall. They said they removed pointless items from the battle pass, but let's be real, deathbox recolors are just interesting enough to be put behind a $10/season paywall that you have to still play to earn.

If the new universal heirlooms were more obtainable than regular heirlooms, and ran supplementary to legend specific heirlooms, I would probably like them. Instead, they are less obtainable and less interesting at the same time. The fact that one of them was already fomo'd and is just impossible to ever obtain again really doesn't paint the best picture of the new attitude towards these cosmetics going forward.

and I'd like to remind you, that EA DOES NOT CARE. I had issues with shards...I opened shards 2 times, right as server crashes happened. OK, I didn't get them - talk with support. Great. Back then there was live support and I kid you not, they escalated the issue both instances many many times. Turns out, server crash happened before they got recognised, buuuut it didn't stop there. Because the first time it bugged, it reset the counter. So I opened my first permanent heirloom that I still own on pack 700+ . So, now I have 1 instead of 3 :)

heirlooms fucking suck in general because you're either doing an ungodly amount of grinding for what is essentially some cool idle and melee animations or you're paying a metric tone of money.

in season 8 i lost heirloom shards for no reason, but i think it was because of the crash. ( i had 150 before they gave everybody free shards)

Random heirloom shards in apex packs is one of the best things in the game. I got mine around season 9 I think. But it’s really crap I have played since week 1 and have only gotten 1 random heirloom. Are people still getting them? Every 500 apex packs like it was originally? It’s too late now but I wish they would have heirloom grants based on number of kills or wins with a legend. Even if you had to pay a reasonable price to access it lol no way that would happen.

they just need to make simple weapons and have them A LOT cheaper. like if they had a cool katana or something, i'm sure people would buy it and use it. and then it doesn't take anything away from the heirlooms

When I 1st played apex I also agreed that heirlooms sucked at that universal melees were better, but rn respawn/EA really have been stupid. It's good that they are focusing on universal melees but it is such a dick move to scrap and leave heirlooms.
