Then who's buying all these trucks!!!! The prices are a function of what the market will tolerate, and these trucks are getting sold. Sure, it's slowed down some, but let's not act like we the consumers aren't responsible for the high cost of everything.

@@trenegade5441 don't let these companies fool you they are purposefully inflating their prices hoping to play a little good bad and the ugly stalemate with you until your arms get tired. These companies receive more government bailouts than almost any other industry so there is little to no incentive for them to increase demand. We're witnessing late stage capitalism in action where government legislators and companies team up to try to leach off of the rest of the country.

I don’t know who is buying them but it’s not me!! I refuse to pay 60k for a lower trim truck. I paid 40k for my 2020 F-150 STX crew cab 4x2 with the 2.7 ecoboost engine brand new back in 2020. That was at least reasonable for a truck.

@@timschultes6467 I agree 100% I'm certainly not paying those prices either. I have only bought one vehicle brand new in my life, and I typically keep my vehicles for much longer than the average consumer. Vehicles are tools to me, not toys. The only way I would ever again buy a new vehicle would be if I needed that particular type of vehicle or will need it in the near future, and it would have to be an absolutely insane deal. Otherwise, I'll bide my time until the next crisis, and then I'll pounce. People are so underwater in their vehicles right now it's crazy. The economy is only going to get tighter, people are going to be drowning in debt, and their vehicle payments are going to be like boat anchors dragging them down. They'll be begging for someone to take them off their hands, or they'll get repossessed. And I'll be waiting.

My proposed solutions to Ram’s problems: -Allow Ram to be reacquired by Dodge. Very few people outside of the car community acknowledge that they separated to begin with, and it makes no sense that they would discontinue brands like Plymouth if they were just going to create new ones like Ram later on. -Add some more engine options. The 3.0L Hurricane I6 turbo would be a great competitor to Ford and Toyota’s turbocharged V6s, while adding the 6.4L Hemi V8 would be a good match against the 6.2L V8 used by Chevy and GMC. And since Nissan is no longer using the 5.0L Cummins V8 diesel in the Titan XD and the EcoDiesel has been discontinued, the 5.0 would be perfect as a half-ton diesel option for the Ram. -Upgrade the Heavy Duty trucks to the new body style. It seems asinine to me that the 4th Gen body is still being used on the HD trucks while the 1500s got a full redesign. The output from the Cummins diesel engine could be amped up a bit. If the Standard Output had the same specs as the High Output, the Ram 2500 could tow more than any SRW variation of Ford or GM’s diesel trucks (except the new High Output Powerstroke). The new High Output could have something like 450 HP and 1300 ft-lbs of torque and it would easily outpull the HO Powerstroke like it’s nothing. But with these higher engine outputs, a new transmission would be needed. Rather than the Allison transmission, which has been a persistent rumor for many years with no basis in fact, the ZF Powerline 8-speed should be put behind the Cummins diesels, both standard and high output. -Discontinue the Ram 1500 Classic and bring back the Dakota. And I don’t mean some unibody truck based on the Jeep Compass. Ideally, it would use the Jeep Gladiator’s platform with the Ram 1500’s suspension, with the front end and interior being modeled after the newest Dodge Durango. And if it comes with a Hemi, it would easily be the best mid-size truck for towing. I find it so embarrassing for the mid-sized truck market that none of them can tow more than the Dodge Durango since it comes with a V8 and none of the mid-size trucks do. -Bring down the prices. No one is going to want to pay more than 100K, let alone more than 50K, for a truck just because it has luxury car features. I would be ok with these features if they were reasonably priced.

Ben, all these trucks are crazy expensive. You make 72K for a High Country GM truck sound like a bargain over an 80K Ram that is comparably equipped. That's like a guy making a 100K salary saying a 1.1 million dollar house is overpriced compared to a million dollar house. Both are ridiculously expensive and all the truck makers will be reaping the whirlwind at some point in 2023.

Every point you made is True. Stellantis acquisition of FCA was corporate paralysis. The payload of the RAM 2500 Sucks, all the multiple recalls, with no parts available after spending nearly 100k is inexcusable. The high strength steel of the 5th gen frames, they reduced the thickness of the metal. Engineering schools will tell you, Never compromise safety for cost. They did just that with the 5th generation frames, along with the cameras and parking sensors which are not standard equipment on the HD Trucks and they are necessary for such large vehicles. The interiors are nice but the color choices are few. We buy these Trucks for payload and then RAM derates the payload weeks after you buy them. Payload is everything and RAM HD's particularly the 2500 with the thin, supposedly high strength frame, sacrifices Safety and Payload for Profit. Thanks for the video, Blessings 🙌

The biggest problem with Ram now, is, THEY REFUSE to update their interior & exterior design! They're still using the same door panels inside, same dash, same chassis with boring exterior parts, no cool flaresides or even slight flaring. The entire silhouette of the whole truck is still the same as it was 10 years ago! Meanwhile Chevy is making beautiful designs & Ford is at least being very unique & still offering single cab options

I have a 2021 Ram 1500 Limited. It's a dream to drive, and I'd buy another if I needed to. Payload isn't great, about 1400 lbs, but it will still pull a small TT. I agree about the 2500's; there is simply no reason to buy one with the Cummins because of the massive reduction in payload. And for some bizarre reason, Ram has stopped selling the Hemi in the 2500 Limited, even though a Hemi crew cab 2500 is around 3000 lbs. payload. If they are going to stick with Cummins, Ram does have to somehow beef up their coil suspension or take a cue from Ford and go aluminum. I don't agree with just sticking in a leaf suspension because, at that point, simply buy a 3500, which is in the same price range as the 2500's. Hopefully, the Hurricane, which is supposed to be lighter but more powerful than the Hemi, will resolve a lot of these issues. As for the pricing of the 1500's, I still don't agree with you there. Ford's top of the line F-150's are just as pricey and, while they have more engine options, they still lack the ride quality of the 1500. Yes, Ford recently updated its interior, but it's not any better than Ram's. I doubt many people make truck buying decisions based on a massaging seat. You seem to think Ram needs to change something/anything just for the sake of change, except you really don't identify what actually needs to be changed, apart from more engine options (which the Hurricane will likely resolve). If 10 years from now, Ram is still selling close to the same interior, I'd buy another. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

It was 2020 when inventory wasn't an issue yet and many were not buying cars due to the pandemic still being new and the uncertainty. 2021's just hit the lot and my local dealer was anxious to move them so they got aggressive with offers. I walked out the door with my Rebel for $49k. Today, a brand new 2023 Rebel w/ same options as mine (which as the video mentions is really the exact same as my 2021 - no noticeable changes) would cost you almost $20k more than I paid for my truck just 2.5 years ago. Absolute insanity! Ram either needs to make significant updates or lower their prices. I love Ram and have owned 2 of them, but agree with the sentiment that there is truly zero reason to "upgrade" to a new Ram right now if you are already an owner of a 2019 or newer Ram. And if you are not a current Ram owner, there are simply better trucks on the market from Ford and GM right now that makes it tough to choose the Ram especially considering the price point.

Ram has a heavy duty recall that severely limited their inventory. The heavy duty trucks have fallen behind Ford and GM with cab size and transmissions. The 2023 heavy duty change doesn’t bring anything new other than mirrors that have more features but arguably not better than the old mirrors. The half ton trucks are nice, but they are getting stale to the masses and are due for a new look as a result of Ford and GM refreshes. Ram costs are up, but so are everybody else’s. The difference is you are paying a lot more money for the same truck that cost less last year. Ford and GM increased costs too, but they changed the shape of their metal and plastic so the masses look past the price increase. I would agree Ram is more expensive than the competition now. Ram went from getting more for your money to paying more for less. As for hauling and towing, if you want to do both at the same time with big numbers you need a 1 ton. The payload on my 22 F250 Lariat is less than a comparable Ram 2500 Laramie. The coil suspension in the Ram 2500 is fine and tows great. They have a market for trailers with sub 1500lb tongue weights. If you are going to pull a 5th wheel with a 2k lb hitch, a 3/4 ton truck is probably not for you.

As a long time Ram owner and fan of the brand, I would love to see them bite the dust. Let it be a textbook lesson on why it's a bad idea to absolutely price gouge their customers, along with failing to address a handful of easily addressable issues that have plagued these trucks for far too many years without being easily addressed. After enjoying a huge market share increase, the greed on display by Ram is completely unacceptable and a huge collapse would be justice served. My next purchase should have been a nicely equipped Laramie 1500 Night package, but instead it will be a Tundra.

That's crazy how low the payload capacity is on the Ram 2500! I remember back in the late 90's i had a 97 F150 2wd ext cab short bed with a 5.4, & my dad had a 98 Ram with the exact same setup & a 5.9. We had to go to home depot & pickup 30 bags of quick crete at 100 lbs per bag. So we put 15 in each truck and I was shocked how each truck handled the load. Even tho my dads Ram looked much tougher, his truck was obviously overloaded, the rear was squatting big time & the nose was pitched up. My truck was sitting perfectly level, I figured it would cuz the payload capacity was a bit over 1,700 lbs. My dads was probably barely over 1,000 lbs from the looks of it hahaha

The problem is, Stellantis is trying to put themselves in the same class as Ford and GM with very little updates to their HD line of trucks. You're basically buying a truck that came out in 2010! On top of that, the payload rating on their 2500 diesels is extremely low compared to Ford and GM. I would love to upgrade to a RAM 3500 long bed, but I don't want a huge payment! And Fords sales are pretty much without Superdutys. I see none around and the local dealer has $20k markup on their website for the ones that are coming in. GM has changed the interiors on their new pickups so people will want to upgrade pretty much any model made before 2022.

I paid $46K in 2005 for my Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab Hemi 4x4. In 2013 I paid $53K for my Ram 2500 Crew Cab Hemi Big Horn 4x4. At this rate, I won't be able to afford another new truck. All new trucks are pricing their customers out of purchasing them. The best thing for my situation was that I got a 7 year loan for my 2013, which sounds pretty strange, but I put low miles on my truck now a days. Its 10 years old and has 64,000+ miles on it. The longer loan length made my payments $353.80 a month with my trade in. Very doable. I love my Ram and never have had towing or plowing issues. Its a strong truck, but with all the new electronic upgrades, the tech in these trucks are making ownership unachievable. Worse, is when something electrical goes wrong. It is insane cost-wise to fix them. Make trucks beefy, strong, and simple. They will sell! As a side note, we own a 2012 Jeep JKU Wrangler with the first year 3.6L Pentastar engine. It has been awesome and though there was a head/head gasket free recall, we were not affected by it. Our Jeep has been a great vehicle for us and has retained its value. To think that in this market, a stock 11 year old Jeep can go for about $24K is insane. We only paid $32K for it in 2012. With our upgrades, we can likely get $27K for it now in the New England market. Stay Safe Folks!

Your last point is the main reason for Rams sales troubles in my opinion. Price. That was the reason Rams were as popular as they were because you could get a capable one for a lot less money than a GM or a Ford. In the HD world you could buy a diesel Ram for the same price as a gas Chevy or Ford. And then as far as HDs go, to add to your list they have by far the oldest truck on the market. Their cab and bed and basically the entire truck except for the front clip and interior date all the way back to the 2010 model year. You get in a crew cab Ram and it’s A LOT smaller than a crew cab GM or Ford. The standard bed is shorter too by as much as 6”. They are overall just a smaller truck. The low payload is an issue too in that Ram still caps the 2500s at a 10,000 GVWR. GM and Ford give you the option to get a higher GVWR for their 3/4 ton trucks.
