*Poetic Justice:* Long ago, Lord Baelish said "Knowledge is Power." The only reason why Littlefinger lost is because his real opponent was Bran, The 3 Eyed Raven. Bran told his sisters what he knew of Littlefinger. When it comes to Knowledge, no one can beat the 3 Eyed Raven. *- A speculation I have about Lord Baelish:* I forget which episode - The scene in crypts of Winterfell with Sansa & Littlefinger (LF). Sansa mentions that her Aunt Lyanna was captured and killed by Rhaegar Targaryen. Notice the reaction expression of LF. He reacted like he knew the real truth. Robert Baratheon's Rebellion War was built on a lie. Now, who do we know that profits by spreading lies to turn others against each other? Littlefinger gained a lot of power because of that Rebellion.

If I’m not mistaken, the books reference another way for the Night King’s army to overcome the Wall. For the show, using a dragon makes sense not only for physically destroying the Wall, but also breaking the enchantments imbued in it to stop the dead from crossing over. I’m pretty sure that’s why Benjen never tried to go back to the Wall (aside from his oaths to the Night’s Watch and the Three-Eyed Raven). He knew because of those enchantments he could never cross the Wall even if they opened the gates for him.

@@VColossalV There’s some wiggle room there because it’s heavily implied the enchantments are tied directly to the structure. In theory, it’s possible to fly it over the Wall without resulting in its destruction. I think if the wight came into close proximity to the Wall, like directly touching it or entering its tunnels for example, it would be destroyed. The show doesn’t make it clear where the party actually landed, but I’d assume it’s somewhere well behind the Wall, if for no other reason than it would be unnecessarily difficult to land a dragon laden with passengers atop it.

18:06 Tommen jumped out a window! NO ONE can blame Tyrion for THAT! If ANYTHING it was Cersei's fault for arming the faith militant in the first place because of her jealousy of Margarey. I can see how she'd blame Tyrion for Marsella's death because he was the reason she was in Dorne in the first place. 22:52 Theon didn't kill ANY Starks! 42:42 the Wall is made with magic and it took something magical, like a dragon to bring it down completely. 54:53 in the books one of the older Targaryen queen's tried to fly her dragon beyond the Wall but it refused to go! A wolf gets what he earns when he earns it. 3- Ghost stayed in castle black during the battle of the bastards, because his oath prohibits him to join that war. The nightswatch are neutral. No brother of the nights watch fought there. 4- i cannot spoil season 8, but for the rest of the show, if you notice ghost action, he always keeping his vows to the nights watch. The thing which hits really hard about Jon being the legitimate son of a Rhaegar+Lianna marriage (which was a love match)...obviously, the whole 'Rhaegar kidnapped and violated Lianna' thing is NOT true -- therefore Robert Baratheon's entire reason for starting the war against the Targarians was false. We also learn over the course of the show that Rhaegar was actually a great guy and would have been an excellent king (according to those who knew him, like Ser Barriston). So really, the mad king needed to go (he was a dangerous lunatic) and Rhaegar would have followed in the line of succession. Robert didn't need to cause a huge war over something that never happened. Imagine if Dany's and Jon could have been raised in Kings Landing as future rulers...the possibilities are endless, but the loss of life during Robert's Rebellion and the wars between the 5 kings wouldn't have happened. Arguably the kingdom would have been stronger and more united...maybe more equipped to handle the Long Night. Of course then, Dany's story would be very different...possibly no dragons...so who knows how that would play out (we assumed up until this episode that the dragons were a huge weapon for the good guys...but now the playing field is more leveled). Interesting to imagine what could have been...

Which raises the question - why did Robert believe Lyanna was kidnapped and murdered, or did he? Did he know she left him for Rhaegar?

It took a powerful magical being to destroy a powerful magical structure. Think the Night King can see things like Bran, knew Dany would be flying up there with her dragons and decided to wait when he could have easily had his minions attack Jons party. He could have froze that lake if he wanted to. And finally we see Targaryen's doing what they do best. 😆

No doubt Middlefinger was the most dangerous and most adept player in the Game of Thrones, and the greatest villain in the show, even more so than Joffrey or Ramsey, and at least as clever as Tyrion. Although it's interesting that George R.R. Martin, at one point in the early development of the story, declared Tyrion as the villain of the story. Of course, that was way back when he planned a love story between Jon and Arya with Tyrion as her rejected suitor, and jealous enemy of Jon. Middlefinger was even responsible for Robert's Rebellion. All evidence point to it being Middlefinger who lied to Brandon, telling him Rheagar had "kidnapped" Leanna, when he likely knew good and well she went with him willingly and of her own free will.

The _really_ scary bit is that it almost doesn't _matter_ how big the Army of the Dead is. Any time you fight them, some of your soldiers will die. And every one of them that dies, rises up into the army. So every time you fight them, you get weaker, and they get stronger. In a lot of wars, you could get to pretend as a third party you could just let those two fight each other, and then you only have to fight the winner. And the winner will be seriously weakened because of it, so it'll be easy for you. But not here; if the dead win, they'll be *stronger* because of the fight.

This I agree Little Finger went out in a way that made sense for him as well as Sansa. He taught her too well. That being said that’s one of the few endings for characters that make sense. I know there are a small group of people who defend the ending (I mean I like how it looks and I enjoyed the first 3 episodes) but even George RR Martin was frustrated with Dan& Dave (the show runners) as well as HBO with how they ended the series and the endings they gave for many of the characters. If George, the guy responsible for this incredible story up to that point, also hated how they chose to end the series (decisions characters made, the abrupt change to characters, characters being incredibly stupid for no reason, how characters ended, and how who ended up on the throne ended up there).

It just feels big and there are some great scenes in it, especially with Cersei. I also find your reaction interesting, to the "Jack of all trades" Night King on the Dragon. Many fans often speculated that he had been a Targaryen in life. Some have even suggested Aemond Targaryen from House of the Dragon (because of Aemond's blue eye), although this is impossible, as Aemond's blue eye was a Sapphire!
