People used to drink wine even when pregnant. They didn't know what drinking alcohol could do to a baby, even as recently as the 1960s. Doctors used to think the placenta protected the baby from what the mother drank. Also, drinking wine was safer than most water in the medieval age.

But Tyrion realised Cersei was pregnant when she refused to drink wine in the last episode of Season 7. That's what they're referring to.

A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms is, imho, the best episode of the season. The scenes around the fireplace were fire. The title, "A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms" is an homage to some *REALLY* cool Westeros History and Lore, *AND* Brienne's own family history, which was not told in the H&L specials. Brienne is a descendant of one of the most noble knights of the Seven Kingdoms, Ser Duncan the Tall. As far as we know Ser Duncan was never actually knighted, yet went on to become Lord Commander of the King's Guard for King Aegon Targaryen Fifth of his Name. In George R.R. Martin's short stories, "The Tales Of Dunk And Egg" Dunk is a traveling Hedge Knight who wanders Westeros with his loyal squire "Egg", whose true secret identity, Prince Aegon Targaryen, is known only to Dunk, Egg, and Egg's father, Prince Maekar Targaryen. Through a series of unfortunate events, young squire Aegon, who was never actually in line for the Iron Throne, becomes King Aegon Targaryen Fifth of his Name when Egg's older brother, Aemon, turns down the throne due to his oath a Maester of the Citadel assigned to the Night's Watch. Brienne and Pod's relationship is a direct reflection of Dunk and Egg's relationship. The title, "A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms" is also the working title of the live-action adaptation of "The Tales Of Dunk And Egg" currently in production by HBO, and started filming this month. On a side note; one of the first things the young King Aegon did was to sentence a man named Lord Brynden Rivers to the Wall. Brynden was the bastard son of King Aegon the Fourth and served as Master of Whisperers and Hand of the King to two previous kings. Bloodraven had broken an oath of protection and beheaded the man that protection had been sworn to. LORD Bloodraven traveled to the Wall with Aemon, they were close, as Bloodraven was Aemon's great uncle. Lord Bloodraven served several years as lead ranger, then Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, before being lost beyond the Wall roughly 75 years before being found in a cave by Brandon Stark, Jojen and Mira Reed, and a gentle giant called Hodor, who, btw, was also a direct descendant of Ser Duncan the Tall. That's where Hodor and Brienne both inherit their size.

Love the Dunk & Egg stories! A great read, and I suspect will make a great show. Egg was often known as "Aegon the Unlikely" when he became king, as he was the fourth son of a fourth son. So far down the food chain that his father allowed him to squire for a hedge knight.

I think it's a shame that so much potential went to waste though. So many storylines remained unexplored. I would have liked to have seen Euron given much more of a sinister villain role, in the final season. There could have been some interesting power plays between him and cersei, especially if he ever found out her child wasn't his. But this never happened. Then there was what happened in episode three and the feeling that the whole mythology and build up behind certain things had been a total waste of time. Then of course, what happened in episode 5. Ugghh...

Danny offered to keep his titles and lands to a traitor (he was a vassal of the Tyrrel) something that others would not have even contemplated, it is war, yes she wants to be different, but with the people, enemies are enemies. the beginning of the end of GOT's coherence, in the plot, in the characters... indeed Jaime is no longer blonde, it is no longer important, Cercei drinks and doesn't drink, but you can't see her belly. The second chapter for me is the only one that doesn't lose coherence, and it's also great, the perspective of how each person spends what they think are going to be their last hours, the kiss of the gray worm and Misandei seems like one of the best. beautiful ones I've seen, the moment brien 😢👏🏻👏🏻

She gets a bit pig headed, especially in the final episode. And for no good reason really - other than the fact she likes the North.

I know y'all are young but the concept of not drinking during pregnancy is a fairly new one. It was pretty common up until the 1980s.

Yeah, GOT fucked this up when Dany just let Jon ride a dragon without thinking that only those with Targaryen blood can ride dragons. The showrunners just completely forgot this lore.

As for the dead marching, I didn't get it either why they took so long, but giving the fact they can't swim, there might've been a river in their way, so they had to go around. But also, the night king could've just fly over with his dragon and burn winterfell to ashes in minutes :D . Yet we get it, we all wanted to get the full whitewalkers fight. As for Cersei and drinking wine while pregnant, remember, at that time, the knowledge about things you shouldn't do while pregnant was far away from the current one. Women have been even encouraged to drink red wine, as it was cosidered healthy (it is now, too). But also, there also have been weak sorts of wine, with minimum alcohol, for kids and also pregnant women.
