Perfect song, the kind I like - no nonsense, straight to the point and letting me know that I should never agree to work for Darby O'Leary.

Indeed, this songs is a bit hidden and buried amongst all the others. But, a cool story and I love it.

I have always always loved Barney McKennas banjo sound, very mystical.

I love the way he says any single word in this song. I love his voice and the way he raises it and lower it, how he bounces on some words... I love the story too, and it seems to me like he's telling, well singing, a serious story but laugh at the same time, though he's the "victim". I love the dubliners and I keep singing their songs I know. Thanks for sharing on youtube!

By the way, what is Michaelmas night? and who is Saint Pat? (well I guess he means Saint Patrick as in Saint Patrick's day, but who is Saint Patrick?)

Ciaran was such a good singer that one wonders why he wasn't used on vocals more. Perhaps Luke and Ronnie hogged the limelight, vocal-wise, during the heyday of this super-group. Jim McCann, sitting in front of this picture, wasn't bad either.
