It would take many more years of life experiences and the growing willingness to watch this (in syndication) that I realized that this was a good show. We often missed the first or second episode of a new series. Word of mouth got viewers in by October/November or the show got cancelled after the first 13 ep package. Remember WKRP? "Turkeys Away" saved that show and it was successful for years. Star Trek was saved by "Balance of Terror". The first episodes were toss always by programming directors. Then there was often "the Episode Before Christmas" when people stopped watching series TV for a month.
@CieJe.Alexander5 жыл бұрын
@@STho205 Now they hype the Season premiere like the show depends on it, so the viewers won't watch all of the other Network's premieres. But never again reaching the level of the legendary event known as 'Who shot J.R.' In older times each of the big three ABC, CBS, and NBC, had a week of airing premieres so they wouldn't overlap and the viewers could sample all the available series, before settling into their schedule of favorites. Only to, always, have your #1 favorite be cancelled after about 3-10 episodes completely leaving you hanging. Unless you were lucky, and the gave you a 2hr. Made-for-TV special which tried to answer, ALL of the show's questions at once. And maybe if you were very lucky they might just bring the show back with a few alterations in casting, new sets/locations, and a slightly shifted premise. Ahh, good times.😀📺
