For a pro to change the size of your glasses is exactly the same. They take your frames and heat it with basically a blow dryer and adjust it away from your head. They then let you try it on and see if it needs more adjusting. And over time it becomes more loose so you'll then go again. At least this way you can do it at home. And tightening hinges only works if your frame feels loose when opening or folding them, it does nothing to the tightness, for me and my 6 years of wearing them, at least

Optician here and that hairdryer life hack is actually similar to what we use in the workplace. Sometimes glasses (especially plastic frames) get stretched out because people are dumb and either wear them in their hair or take them off with one hand. So you have to readjust them. But yeah, picking better fitting frames over ones that make your genitals quiver is key to being successful in wearing glasses

That being said the solution is dumb as hell. Fun fact: The professionals actually use a heat gun to soften the plastic of the arms when bending the internal wire slightly to fit glasses to you in the first place, & do virtually what's depicted, along with some judicious hand bending if you take them in to get them adjusted. So heating the arms is more a "how to" than a "life hack".
