Athletes are much bigger, healthier and stronger now. Faster, more explosive, more conditioned etc. UFC fighters have (for the most part) refined diets, training regimens , coaches, high level gyms and plenty of time to train. A Spartan Greek would have had all of these in lesser forms, in my opinion. They didn't have the nourishment, techniques or modern training methods/knowledge of biology that we have, a well rounded MMA fighter would probably be far more technical than a Spartan, albeit less aggressive; so who knows 😵💫

Pankration, an ancient Greek sports event that combined boxing and wrestling, introduced at the XXXIII Olympiad (648 BCE). Simple fisticuffs had been introduced in 688 BCE. It was particularly popular among Spartans. Contests were savage, with hitting, kicking, twisting of limbs, strangling, and struggling on the ground allowed. The only recognized fouls were biting and gouging.

Medieval knights actually train since they were like 6 years old. There are actually detail manuscripts of grappling technique (which you can read online today). Obviously their manuscripts were based more on weapons, but they did put emphasis on technique over just winging punches.
@tjakal21 күн бұрын
My thoughts exactly they knew grappling, leverage trips and take downs, esp English dismounted knights. They also practiced doing all that fighting and living in armor to build up the strengths and endurance to do all that while wearing and wrestling people in plate armor. X-factor is how they prob developed a physique where all their tiny muscles like rotator cuffs etc where just next-level strong from living that life. You might get what you think is a beginning of a good joint lock on them only to discover they have unheard of strength in a lot of weird places that invalidates/lessen a lot of technique that would've worked on modern day people. I think Lucas did the knights dirty.

@@ItsameAlex The most common way a fighter won was killing his opponent, there were basically no rules and killing the opponent was a winning condition. the sport was banned for how violent it was. Death wasn't necessary but it was extremely common because they didn't hold back. this guy cant win against anyone on this list

I did wrestling back in high school and one day they took us to spar with the soldiers. Dude even if they have zero technique they can beat you on the account of being 2× stronger than you. Lucas have 0 chances against a spartan.

My guy, Greeks invented MMA. "Pankration" They were also super obsessed with fitness, and invented the Olympics. HELL even if you didn't know about Pankration, Greek's being wrestlers is cliche.

Lucas obviously could and would slump every historical warrior out cold like Elsa, but forget about Tom Aspinall. Not a man born from his mother could lace his boots (besides plotty-man Blades)

Some peolple think that soldiers don't train much h2h combat but that's not always the case there are multiple effective hand to hand combat programs like the usmc's MCMAP and the Army combatives each branch also has its own boxing and wrestling teams and this is just in America some armies focus on h2h combat more than others combat Sambo for example is one of the most effective martial arts in the world and it was originally created in the russian army Furthermore a lot of soldiers are fans of combat sports and usually train martial arts in their free time with several having loads of training and experience before they joined the military I mean a lot of famous mma fighters were soldiers Randy couture Mirco cro cop Fedor emelianenko Brian stann Tim kennedy Benoit saint denis etc
