Armin's parents are mentioned right at the first episode or second, by Armin himself. Can't pinpoint exactly where, it's been a while, but when the MP referred to the couple trying to run away with a hot balloon, I knew it was Armin's parents bc it was said before.

it's episode 2 where Armin and eren where talking about what they should do. Eren wants to fight even tho he can't and Armin tells him how going outside the walls will kill and mentions his parents. Armin figured that was it most likely from them just disappearing and living with his grandfather.

Kenny's theme is also titled 'K2' because the number 2 is pronounced "ni" in japanese. The correct pronunciation for K2 is therefore Kenny (K-ni), which is just another amazing attention to detail.

The ED being creepy is enhanced tenfold at the end of the season. I don't know who was the evil genius who decided to include glitch effects and intertwine it with a teaser of the altercation between Levi, Eren and Mikasa ft Armin's burned body, but my god. Watching it for the first time at 2am was certainly a spooky experience.

Kenny is the best "one arc only" antagonist I've seen in ages because of how he pushes the boundaries of our understanding of Paradis, and his unique design just drives that in all the further. I feel like his more "modern" or even just old west design preps us all for the idea of there being more "modern" and advanced elements to the world in the next season

With the female MP, there's also two other potential issues that might explain her hesitation. 1) It's one thing to shoot at someone who's cutting down your comrades one after another, but it's another to shoot someone in the face, who just had the chance to kill you, but couldn't get himself to do so. 2) The MPs are used to hunting down criminals, not fellow soldiers. And even if they are in different branches of the military, they are still comrades, fighting for the same overall goal of protecting mankind. Sure there might be some that have grown numb to it, like the torturers, but she seems pretty young, so she probably didn't have that particular baptism in fire yet. So I wouldn't be surprised if the woman had already shot other people without hesitation, but ended up choking up for a moment with Jean, because of him being a fellow soldier and having shown qualms about cutting her down just a moment ago. Or she could just have been a fresh recruit, who so far only was part of arrests, or where others shot the criminals, but hadn't yet shot anyone herself.

I knew it Armin's parents. Whenever they get brought up, it's always in the context of having a book that contains information about the outside world, or wanting to leave for the outside world, or that they're actively sneaking out. This is implied to be incredibly rare outside of the Survey Corps, the couple is blonde, and although I didn't put these connections together at the time, I did find out a while ago and wasn't really all that surprised.

Requiem of the dawn is probably my favourite ending song, so I loved hearing that reference to it in the finale ending.... Thank you for this fortnightly dose of AoT details! I also loved the choice to use a very calm part of K2- while Levi is getting chased, since for him it was just a warmup haha. The introduction of Kenny is the perfect bridge that was needed to take our cast from heroes that fight monsters to fighting soldiers in Liberio. The ODM gear used in Liberio is optimized for anti-human operations, showing the changing atmosphere. It also is the midpoint of Eren's progression from fighting monsters to monsters that are actually humans to humans acting like monsters to all of humanity.

I truly believed Mappa "milked" the attack on titan finale just in naming scheme. "Guys, the final season is coming out!" "Guys, the final season.. Part 2 is coming out!" "Guys, I don't know when attack on titan is gonna end, we got part 3..." I definitely still envision it as milking the hype of the series coming to an end. They just messed up bigtime there, but its a lot more understandable if it was misunderstood timing of good animation.

I feel like there is also a slight parallel with Levi saying Armin killed so that none of his squad would die, and Eren eventually rumbling the world, killing on mass to save his friends and home, only in the sense that it's beginning the morality and justifications for when is it at all acceptable to take a life (never) with an example that most people would pretty clearly get behind and say that, especially with Armin not seeing the hesitation on that womans face, Armin was pretty justified in self defence killing and did it to immediately save a life. I do like how even this is questioned with the lady possibly not going to actually do it, so this anime clearly never provides any fully justified murder in this series, eren and mikasa had their humanity questioned for killing as children, and you have Levi's backstory, relationship with Kenny and orders from Erwin setting the backdrop for his killings of the interior police, on top of he himself openly stating that he doesn't consider what he did to be in any sense objectively right, just the choice he made with the information he had.

Oh I got so excited seeing this upload. I cannot stress enough how much I adore your videos and how much I'm looking forward to season 3 in particular. Great job as always! Also, there's a lot that was changed particularly in early s3 compared to the manga- so for anyone seeing this I highly recommend checking it out. One of the things I would like to mention just because it hurts my soul is, that, in the manga, Kenny briefly talks to Reeves before killing him, and he actually does ask about Levi. And then he says "I taught Levi a lot. That midget is my pride and joy." (ch.56 btw) Which - Jesus, Kenny. Definitely not something you expect to hear from this ruthless serial killer, but it adds another rather heart wrenching detail to the relationship between the two. Especially when also taking into account what Isayama once said in an interview about Levi and Kenny but......I will keep that rant for when we get further into the season, if Koroto doesn't already do it for me keke.

This is one of the first moments, if not the first, where a character attacks and kills another human with ODM gear. I think this is a pivotal moment and it changes the energy of the story, its nuanced implications making you think about the complex moral dynamics of AOT's world. It's no longer simply a united humanity against a common enemy, as the equipment and weapons they use to fight the titans, weapons which are hailed as honorable tools to aid humanity in its survival, are used to murder another human being.

I remember first watching this episode and realizing that the couple who tried to fly over the walls were Armin's parents. At this point (I think, but it might be future memories talking) we've seen a flashback of Armin telling Eren that his parents are going to try to journey outside the walls. I don't remember if he said how, but that's why he has the book about the outside world. Then, when they show the flashback of the MPs stopping said couple from flying, we see that they bear some resemblance to Armin, and it seemed pretty clear to me. I guess it wasn't ever explicitly stated, but it was strongly and (seemingly) deliberately implied.

Like the 2 flowers on a stream for Ymir and Historia, Eren Mikasa etc. So in the tradition of AOT episode endings spoiling the story--then Historia, represented by Ymir, was showing us the founding titan stomping out "white flowers" with blood. +Spoiler for season 4 episode endings. The scene where Armin was puking his guts out. I don't think that had to do with the person he killed. I believe that was a slight flashback to when they rescued him and Jean, (who were believed to be Eren and Historia) and Armin was being molested by the creep. I think thats why he was puking because of them being abused in that way, which when he asks Mikasa if that's what she went through, he was asking if she had been molested when she was abducted, but apologizes because he knows if it was this bad for him, who wasn't truly a girl, he couldn't even imagine how bad it must have been for her. 16:34
