The Kabal have been major players in steering the Horus Heresy into an Imperial victory, but usually through subtle tactics though. The dude was shown how he was going to die by the Kabal and he still accepted the mission, knowing ultimately his commitment be worth it

Death to the False Emperor!” -Real people with supposedly functional brains I like this story because it shows much more of how truly corrupted Horus was. He was entirely a puppet of the Chaos gods who deceived him and manipulated him. I mean, one of the biggest reasons he turned on the Emperor was because Chaos showed him the supposed ‘future’ the Emperor was working towards, but that vision was of the Imperium that formed as a RESULT of Horus’s betrayal. Nothing Horus did was justified. And you can’t take the ‘But Emps lied to Horus, and that makes him bad’ angle, because Chaos literally does nothing BUT lie to Horus, so at the very least, by the same standard, it’s just as bad if not worse.

The emperor had flaws, but he did everything he could think of to protect his sons and the race that needed him. Horus was simply the greatest puppet chaos ever got and didn't realize till itbwas far too late.

That's actually the point of the story, and why it's so compelling to Chaos fans like me. For the most part the Traitor Primarchs had noble goals, and by the end some among the Legions still did too. But Chaos twisted those noble goals and turned them into something far worse than what they were fighting against. The hypocrisy isn't an oversight by us Chaos fans. It's a feature. It's what makes the story interesting.

As for Horus being justified, you have to take perspective into account. WE know that he caused the very future he was trying to avoid, but HE didn't. It's the same problem with judging historical figures--what seems like obvious causality to us in hindsight will often be completely unforseen consequences for people who were actually there at the time.

@@BrenttFease But He did cause the current imperium to have happened, if the Big E was still in action he would not allow people to worship him, the imperium still ran with decent speed and it's not till after the heresy that the empire started to stagnate because it did not have a goal in Mind anymore and no one to lead it because all the primarchs were made for war, not to be leaders among humanity. That and they slowly but surely were 'killed' or chased after other things.

Horus really doesn't have a leg to stand on. When Erebus was showing him visions of the future, Magnus literally showed up and dispelled the illusion, proving that Erebus was deceiving him. Horus turned anyway.

This actually seems to make sense regarding the star child theory. All that compassion, love and the warm parts of the emperor have alot of power in them as well, and given that the imperial occult believes so greatly in these things then perhaps we will see the birth of two benevolent entities for mankind in the warp. Each resembling a different side of the emperor.

In the Lore, Horus lifted the ship's force fields after detecting the Dark Angels, Space Wolves and Ultramarine Legions nearing Terra, which could end the Siege on Terra. If the Emperor had failed, leaving Horus victorious, Would the Lion or Russ have surrendered? Or would they have beaten the Warmaster? This Final battle will always intrigue 30k and 40k players for years to come.

Well Magnus only did so because of what happened to horus. Horus consciously went against the emperor. Magnus was not told what he could cause in terms of damage. He doesn't have any fault in my book
