Enjoy your sabbatical from "The Retro Shack." As an OAP myself, I concur that doing all your planned travel whilst you're still ABLE to do so is extremely wise. Happy travels! Aloha!

Retired about 15 days ago, so I can definitely relate. Give it time, adapt slowly if you can, quickly if you must, and you'll do fine. Enjoy traveling around and being together. That stuff's important, man.

Super decision. Doing it now while you're still young and physically mobile will allow you to make the max out of the Adventure. My dad wanted to do a lot of traveling when he retired and ended up never being able due to the health of both of them at different times.

You go and enjoy yourselves, don't think about us... we can get by, sat in our cellars and padded cells whilst you go gallivanting around and enjoying yourselves. We're not jealous in the slightest. 😂 Best of luck, and enjoy your travels. Oh, and may your caravan and all your showers be warm. 😉

Fantastic choice! I'm at that stage where I am mulling over similar options, near the top of the list I guess is Starlink gotta have that high speed upload & download. Good luck with your travels!

Well good luck with your (late) mid-life crisis. I had one myself. Bought a sports car. Drove it at high speed into a wall. I was ok after a few months. Hope yours goes better.

Have a fabulous time. We are planning something similar. Starlink is your friend when it comes to internet if you can justify the relatively high monthly fee…

The whole world has it's problems where ever you go my friend, it's how you live where you are, or where ever you go, and how much you let the bullshit effect you that counts in my humble opinion and experience.

Hello, I have a question. My zx spectrum doesn't load from tape. It stucks at a grey loading screen and finds nothing.
@medes5597 Жыл бұрын
I can help, if you give me some more details? Specifically: which model spectrum? Is it 16k, 48k or 128k? Secondly - how are you loading games? Via a tape recorder, a SSD tape emulator or via an mp3 on your phone? I know you said tapes, but people do use that term to mean "things that were on a tape" so I'm just checking. Let me know and I think I can help track the issue.
@TUSIP Жыл бұрын
@@medes5597 it's a original 48k, I'm using mp3 files from my phone, I use zx tape player app.

You could also make travel videos... I'd watch those as well. If you have an older camper the channel name would still fit!

For the internet, just take a Starlink! I saw there are some conversions kits to install it on the roof of the caravan. Maybe doing more streaming while settle your retro corner in the caravan?
@medes5597 Жыл бұрын
Starlink is very patchy in the UK, although we will be getting vastly improved service in August 2024 according to their representatives. So good idea but probably not worth it at this moment. Later on, definitely.

ive seen a bunch of people do this in the last few years, my best friend of 30 years was one of them. Selling up and touring seeems attractive but it always seems to end up the same, with disappointment and with no money left and no assets left and once you are out of the housing ladder as your years clock up its almost impossible to buy in again unless you acquire a lot of cash. I hope it works out for you but the move isnt very compatible with the channels content so it will be interesting to see if you can continue. Ive enjoyed a lot of your builds and restorations and the research and care that goes in to the voice over info which has taught me quite a lot about machines i grew up with.
