I'm really glad it's all coming together for you both now - I just watched the video where your house was dropped off before this one. Regarding coming to visit the UK, I think I might suggest holding on until next year (yes, I know we're only still in January), carry on saving as much as you can and create an itinerary of the places you both want to visit, including the estimated costs, how you'll be travelling round (car hire versus trains), maybe a daily budget, and possibly have a look at some of the other videos American KZbinrs have on here from their visits to the UK - and possibly contact them regarding expenses per day. I know Grimm Life Collective have recently been over here and put out a bunch of videos of the places they came to visit. They went to quite a few different locations in different parts of the UK, so they might be a starting point? Also, Evan Edinger is an American that's now living in London and he has some comparison videos, as well as talking about his experiences here in England. I hope this is helpful. All the best to you both.

This👏is👏smart! Two weeks to tour the uk, is NOT enough time at all. A full month minimum. Hire a small cheap car, travel light (don’t have lots of luggage 👎). There’s so much to consider JT & Anna. Focus on your new home, then a holiday 😊👍.

Good luck with the move into your new home 🎉 🏡. For your UK visit, however short or long it is, the one piece of advice I would give is - don’t try and cram too much in, obviously you’ll want to spend a short period in London, but choose only a relatively small number of other cities or places to visit and take it in as relaxed a way as you can, even try and squeeze in a day when you have very little planned and can enjoy wherever it is you are. It so happens I live in a small town (approx 10k people) in the north of Scotland, although I have lived in London for a few years and various other large cities in different parts of the world for some years, and I still like to visit large cities occasionally, but I prefer being in a small quiet town with easy access to the countryside or the shore (I live less than 100 yards from the sea shore with just parkland a cricket pitch in fact) & grass in between. I’m sure you’ll have a great time whichever parts of the UK you choose to visit 😂👍. Obviously hiring a car for touring around outside of big cities will give you more flexibility, but most parts have decent rail coverage so that’s an option.

I am old, just 80, and have been travelling whenever I have had the time and the money. I too hate big cities, but the countryside takes more time to appreciate. My best trips have been those where I've had enough time to appreciate the place before moving on, so I agree with those of my countrymen who have said two weeks is not enough. Many Americans think that Britain is so small that you can do it justice in a weekend. You can't! You'll be very welcome whenever you do come, but please don't try to cram too much in! Or you may be put off for ever - and we'd hate that to happen!

2 weeks isn't much time. You have 2 full travel days + 1 jetlag day. Travel between places. London to York is only a few hours but you get to the train station a bit early, arrive & check-in, that's a lot of the day gone. I'd suggest London, York & Edinburgh. Good stand alone destinations with great day trips easily available. I'd say take the train between them ( the East Coast mainline from the border to Edinburgh is stunning) & hire a car if needed in York & Edinburgh. Not in London, just don't do that to yourselves 😁

Best advice for growing a decent beard is simply Stop Shaving and get a set of specialist trimmers, so that you can maintain a set length of your beard hairs, trying to use scissors to keep a set length is impossible to do without a guide. I use a trimmer that is adjustable in 3 mm increments, by twisting the cutting head and also switching between two different sizes comb attachments.

When you come to the UK, DO NOT STAY IN LONDON... It's wayyy over priced.. you need to look at the countryside to stay and do day trip in to London. Cambridge area or Norfolk both have trains which run in to London. Both have lots of historic Norwich, has castle you can visit. There are roman builds you guys can vist also in norfolk as well as Costal areas to visit. Suggest maybe renting a car to best get around thro.

@andyt8216 London is expensive to eat, and you get a better deal outside of the M 25 ring road. That's why I suggest Cambridge or Norfolk as both have what they likes..history the countryside and lots of cows...🐂🐄. Plus they can do day trip in to London if they really want to go..

"If you're tired of London, you're tired of life". London isn't any more expensive than any other major global city, especially if you plan. The idea of staying in the Home Counties and commuting in during a first-time visit is insanity of the Highest Order. 🤦🏻‍♂️
@jlytollis4
@jlytollis4 3 ай бұрын
@flynndean no not really... if you watch their channel, then you know they are from the country and don't like large city's. London has a lot to see and the cheapest way would be to take day day trip in from surrounding areas.. and as jt like history,and like the countryside I suggest Cambridge area or Norfolk as both have a lot of history and trips into London are easy. As they are first timers to the UK, day trips in to London would make more sense. London is expensive compared to other citys around UK..

I would recommend on your trip to the UK, visit our beautiful villages, enjoy fish and chips with mushy pea's, curry sauce, or gravy, oh and don't forget to say yes to salt and vinegar (if its Chinese owned - they have the best curry sauce, they may ask you "saw finger" but they mean salt and vinegar. Also go and watch a premier league football match, Live in the stadium, I would recommend the Tottenham hotspur stadium or the Emirates (Arsenal - my team) Best fish and chips I've had was in Hunstanton, there is a really nice hotel there with great food so take a trip there if you can, stay over night and enjoy the beach, lastly, as beautiful as autumn is go between late may to late August.

After a long flight like that and you're only talking two weeks! That's just a normal break in the UK. When my wife and I take a similar long flight to Cambodia we stay 6 - 8 weeks. You just ain't going to get everything you want to do in in two weeks. What to see versus time to see just don't work. Exciting time for you finally getting your own place, but like with your holiday, it's a nightmare of what you wanna do versus what time to do it. The what you wanna do will always outweigh the time you've got to do it! Good luck both.

There’s lots of great architecture, museums, pubs, music scene & venues, pubs, history, 2 football clubs, 2 cathedrals & take the ferry across the Mersey river to the Wirral peninsula a mix of small towns, seaside & farmland. Liverpool is also close to historic Roman city of Chester & Manchester. There’s also the Cheshire countryside & North Wales for rural areas too. Plus you can travel north through Lancashire to the Lake District & on to Scotland or take a ferry from Liverpool to the Isle of Man or Ireland.

In the end you have the whole of the U.K. to decide where you want to go.

Yes dog passports are a thing, but for a 2 week trip not worth it imho. Read up about it. A lot of countries want the dog to quarantine before travel so the dogs may have to spend a longer time in a special quarantine shelter than the trip lasts.

Plus they have to travel in the hold. Travelling from Kentucky to the UK is about 3 seperate flights over a couple of days.

If you get down near to or at Stonehenge, give me a shout I live next door to the stones in Amesbury the U.K’s oldest settlement. I’d be happy to show you around some of the little known site in the New Forest, the Huffington Horse, the Kiwi at Larkhill albeit that’s a little jaded at the moment, depending on timing it might be possible to visit Imber Village.

Your dogs can be moved with a passport but Need a week or two quarantine. Here in the uk & then again back in the USA. So it isn’t worth it unless you’re moving to Uk permanently. Basically

JT and Anna, if you’re doing a couple of weeks in good ol’ Blighty. Then why not start in Scotland, it has some stunning countryside to explore and work your way down the U.K., you can drive from Scotland to London in approx 7 hours (depending where in Scotland you are) so you could spread it out over the 2 weeks and end in London to do the tours etc, try to avoid the city centres as they are an absolute nightmare to drive in and you’ll be constantly stuck in traffic especially in London.

This is a great idea, they could fly to Edinburgh or Glasgow, they'd need 4 or 5 days for a whistle stop Scottish highlights tour, then week long road trip down to London and fly home from Heathrow.

JT I'm 36, going on 37. I still to this day cannot grow a beard. It literally only grows around my mouth, like it's only goal is the David Brent look. On the flip side, it means my only real look is the clean shaven gent. Which as a Brit, always goes down well at a dinner party 😏

I hope you won't get *anything* until you have researched what you need to do to keep them happy and healthy. Might I suggest some cute little Dexters (mini cows). For fencing, get some electric fences. It's fairly cheap, you can get some that run off a leisure battery which is charged with a solar panel. It's easy to move about to save the land in wet weather and to give one grazing area a rest, in order to control internal parasites.

I would add Edinburgh to the “don’t stay in” list. Stay in Glasgow or Stirling(where the Castle is way way better than Edinburgh Castle) and take the train to Edinburgh. Parking in Edinburgh is terrible and they hate cars there.
Why I Won’t Come to The UK…
