My daughter is 15 and she used to watch Miranda years ago. She came to me and showed me something that she thought was funny. I’m a former grooming victim who is now 30. I recognise a lot of the things both Colleen and her brother would do. E.g. being deliberately forgetful about someone’s age, opening up the option for the child to start lying about their age so they have to take responsibility for the age difference. At the time and for years afterwards I was so convinced I was mature and cool enough that the abuser didn’t see me as a child, and as I got older and people who are younger adults started to feel “too young” for me, I realised the truth. People who hurt animals are usually psychopaths, the type to go on to commit horrifying crimes. Not always but well, it is a pattern. I cannot wrap my head around it.
