Just to clarify about Nolan’s imprisonment, they aren’t trying to convince Nolan to rejoin Viltrum as opposed to dying, if they get their way then Nolan dies whatever he decides, Viltrumites just think that they should “be allowed to face death as part of the empire, not as a traitor” and they want to break Nolan, to prove that their way is stronger than Earth’s, before they kill him. Look, overall I think they did a decent job with fixing Amber’s character. The problem is that it’s just so painfully obvious how drastic her character change in Season 2 is compared to what she was like in Season 1. Looking back at what she was like then and what she is now is literally like looking at night and day! You can't tell me they're the same person! Some will make the argument that people can change, but not to the point where they literally sound and act like a completely different individual. At first she was overly judgmental and narcissistic and always making Mark feel like he was the one in the wrong. But now she’s Mark’s “yes” woman, agreeing with everything he says no matter what and doesn't have a single negative or critical thing to say about him at all. “You’re leaving to go to space? Ok babe no problem.” “You were gone for 2 months straight making me believe you were possibly dead? It’s all good!” YOU CAN BE MAD ABOUT THAT! That is a basic human emotion and a completely normal and understandable reaction to something like that! Even Mark’s own mother was upset with him about it because he left her all alone and she didn’t know if he was even alive or not. The thing that people didn’t like about Amber was that in Season 1 she would get mad at Mark for things that weren’t his fault or that he did nothing wrong period. But that doesn’t mean she has to now agree with EVERYTHING he does or says! It's like they flipped a switch from her being overly condescending to now being overly supportive. She literally says stuff this season that are completely opposite to what she said last season! I don’t want them to bring her back as a toxic character or say that they should undo all the improvements they’ve given to her character. I’m just saying there needs to be a balance somewhere between being overly toxic and overly supportive, because this doesn’t feel natural.

They really shot themselves in the foot with that one scene of Amber screaming at Mark for not helping... While knowing he helped more than anyone. (that's gaslighting yo) I understand they wanted to convey how hard it would be to date a superhero, but seemed to be afraid to show her worried and sad, due to the old stereotype. So instead they tried to subvert the stereotype and make her independent and stand up for herself... which actually just came across as massively b*tchy and unpleasant to watch unfortunately. Realistic? Yeah, probably. But so is listening to your friend and their partner have a toxic argument, doesn't mean it's something you want to sit around and witness. They might have choosen the absolute least sympathetic route they could have, for what should have an easy source of emotional stakes.

Amber’s always been the worst character in the entire series to me. Even in season 2 where she’s honestly not that bad a character, even a pretty decent character, she’s only a decent character now because the writers did a sudden and complete 180 with her character. She was a nothing character in the Invincible comics and likewise she’s always felt like a nothing character in the series.

The scene where mark and amber talk to art and eve really has me. I’ve rewatched it so many times because it really resonates with me. I know I’m not a big super hero and my girlfriend doesn’t know what it’s like to be a super hero but me and my girlfriend and two really different people and like Mark says “she needs someone that understands what it’s like a college”. I have no clue how to feel for my girlfriend with three things she goes through and I have a pretty well feeling that she has no clue how to help me either. I feel like a break up is inevitable but I’ll always care about her. I can’t just go back to texting her every day after that though. I’m so lost with my relationship right now and this scene is the only thing that’s really resonated with me and had me properly contemplating everything. If any one that sees this has advice I’d love help

They're early college students having a dragged on relationship that they've grown out of despite growing together. That's like peak characterization of Mark (possibly Amber if she stays around) coming of age in a context that isn't just a bloody battle or world threatening danger. I think it's nice they really care about each other and have both become so much more mature about their relationship since the first season, even if they're not ready to officially end it- like they know is right at this point. Little bit of filler for character progression isn't really filler. I can see how anything that isn't immediate PLOT feels like a waste though with seasons having so much to do in so little time.

As a reader of the comics, the most surprising (and frankly most interesting) twist to come about from this episode actually was Rey surviving. Because had her fate followed suit with her comic counterpart, this would've been the end of her story, but now everything going forward is uncharted territory, and I'm very intrigued to see what they do with her.

I haven't read the comics but I did search the comic book covers and by the looks of it the show has adapted issues 1 - 43 as of season 2 episode 6 or 43\144 issues and each episode adapts about 3 issues an episode so with that being said 144 divided by 3 equals 48 and 48 divided by 8 = 6 so by my math there will be 6 seasons and 48 episodes😅 but they could make it shorter or longer and I have heard they have changed some things but who knows

plus the run time of an episode is about 45 minutes and 45 divided by 3 = 15 soo 15 x 144 = 2,160 and then 2,160 divided by 60 = 36 hours edit that is without the credits which are about 4.5 minutes long but with credits the average run time is 48.5 minutes so here we go again 48.5 x 48 = 2,304 divided by 60 = 38.4 hours
