Max just dropped all of Velma Season 2 in one sitting and against my better judgement I watched all 10 episodes...and it feels like the show STILL hates Scooby-Doo! Thorn from the Hex Girls and Scrappy-Doo are introduced into this iteration with season 2, and they're not that remarkable. Norville, Velma and Fred have more to do in this season, yet it still feels like they're not even close to being the Mystery Inc. gang that we know and love! The show is still boring, it still feels nothing like a Scooby-Doo show and with the discourse being at an all time high, I'm ready for it to be OVER. Here are some scattered thoughts on the new episodes to save you the pain of hate watching!

this show just seems aweful like they wanted to make edgy scooby doo but didnt understand what made scooby doo great in the first place or what makes great edgy scooby doo content. it crosses lines that it should not. I refuse to watch it because i believe it shouldnt exist. I dont wish unemployment on anyone but this wasnt a good idea in the first place and they never shut the creator up and there is some seriously creepy and disgusting stuff about her too. I refuse to watch this show because its the way im voting for it to be cancelled. this isnt scooby doo its bootleg scooby doo and not even one of the good ones.

Stop acting like he doesn't absolutely destroy the lore of everything he touches if the originsl creator doesnt stop him. Thats why the only bit of his "writing" that i can tolerate is his Dawn of the Dead that Zack Snyder directed, and only due to the fact that Romero had to tell him off multiple times, just watch the interview of Romeros and you could see he hated Gunn. In media outside the cartoons, Scrappy is shown to be either unhinged or very unhappy. In a Cartoon Network bumper (back when they did those), he was upset that their newer batch of cartoons such as the Powerpuff Girls and Johnny Bravo were getting better treatment them him, the movies straight up make him a villain and Mystery Inc. hinted that he had done something to warrant being disowned by the gang, but never elaborated. This is _not_ the first piece of media to portray Scrappy-Doo as a "villain", and he's still regarded as a hero because that's how terrible the protagonist is.

@@cosmicspacething3474 I'd like a version that ignores the public perception and history and does what no one has apparently had the courage to do: make him likeable. Yes it would be a challenge considering the now-long, long history of people immediately saying "ew, Scrappy!" just as a gut reaction to his presence, but Scrappy as the villain or rejected is just kind of boring at this point.

He was already a hero to H - B in the 80s because he bought the show another decade until Ted Turner bought the company and the people who started Cartoon Network started the smear campaign against him. Showing the first 10 years of this franchise without him only proved why they brought him into begin with: it aged poorly even compared to earlier H-B TV cartoons and certainly to their work at M-G-M.

I really think that this isn’t really a season 2….its just the 2nd half of the initial batch of season 1. Most animation houses require a minimum order of episodes. Finally, after killing this Velma, Scrappy redeemed himself. Also, it’s not hate that kills a show, game, movie, etc. It’s apathy. When you no longer care to get passionately angry, you know your IP is dead. Well, this version of Scooby-Doo is.

They could use like the actually characters heritage as well. Norville has been very much shown to have allot of British heritage, Norville is also very rich as well seeing allot of his family has owned castles or were important figures in their towns a long time ago, in "Sword and the Scoob" we find out that Shaggy has a connection back to Camelot, Shaggy could come for a laid back rich family that maybe could be falling on hard times since his family legacy is just that a legacy nothing new has really happened for years. Daphne's family is like global but in "Scooby and the Loch Ness Monster" we learn that the Blakes are a Scottish clan so Daphne can have a Scottish heritage, can make her whole thing being the clumsy Scottish warrior who is working towards proving she can improve herself to not have to always be saved by someone else.. Velma would be a tougher one with her heritage, seeing her character has changed around allot, she had a Jewish actress once, but also in "Frankenweird" we learn Velma's heritage is somewhere in Germany, they could make a very in-depth Adult origin with Velma being a German-Jewish grandchild of some Holocaust survivors that moved to America. Fred, he is still Fred best can really do is just make him like an all-American heritage or something. Make him kinda the act first questions later type of guy. As for Scooby the his linage seems to run alongside Shaggy's so can either just parallel with Shaggy or give a new origin like how most have him adopted by Shaggy now a days.
@MrAuthor3DS

Alot of people have started turning around on Scrappy especially when we keep getting crap like this that's so much worse, it just reminds you that Scrappy was never the problem it was the execs in charge who went too far with it. It's making me just want to see him back with the gang more and more, there's ALOT you can still do with him without him stealing the spotlight or even changing his charachter too much. It'll sure be better than whatever the hell this show is.

My problem with reboots lately is that they feel like a completely different story for a different TV show. They just slap the name of a classic childhood cartoon on it, market it off to an adult audience, and expect us to be fine with it. It's like they took the joy out of it and the characters aren't the same as the ones I grew up with. There are ways the show could have been written better. In fact, there's fanfiction out there that takes the concept of making a classic TV show dark, and it's much better than whatever this is.

This is when the show could have been about…. A Scooby doo fan named Velma and trying to be like the character. She seeks out people who share the same names as the Scooby doo gang ( Norvil of this series would be the best example of a character not wanting to be associated with the character Shaggy but Velma ignores it) And while she thinks she trying to solve a mystery in reality the kids who are fated with the SD character names play along but all know it due to Velma’s dad having to put his daughter on a medication to keep her from hallucinating while suffering from split personality disorder that has her think she’s the Scooby doo Velma while the Velma of the Series is coping with her parents divorce, her dad’s new girlfriend and learning her bio mom isn’t the woman she imagined she be.

The biggest question of Velma always has been, and always should be, "Why the fuck did you need the Scooby IP for this?!" If they were going to make this many changes to the source material, why bother even having the source material at all? Why not just make it its own thing which, while clearly taking inspiration from the H.B. teen gang mystery solvers formula, is still its own original I.P.? Answer: Because the parent company had zero faith in this shit whatsoever. They KNEW we wouldn't buy into it on its own merits (because, well, it doesn't have any), so they slapped the Scooby label onto it to exploit the existing fandom.

I still think there was a decent enough foundation for an alternate take on the Scooby mythos within this, like as I'm watching it I definitely see what it's trying to do - it just needed a MUCH better central direction. That said, it's like not even close to one of the worst things ever. I can think of so many other adult cartoons that both tried less and accomplished less than this one. Sometimes a fumble is just a fumble, nothing more. And it sure as hell isn't worth declaring *war* on anyone who dares to say *anything* that isn't the most scathing coverage you could conjure, even if it's straight up untrue, let alone the honest hardworking artists who outright enjoyed their time on it. Thanks for calling out some of the worst of this.

They were already ruined before this. The OG was terrible, and this was the only way to make it even remotely tolerable: by making it the show the good times fleaboot is trying to be but failing at. Go hate on that some more because it deserves it. That was an IP that had there there. That was a landmark black family sitcom that they turned into a travesty. And what's worse, they are ripping off the original series creator still! Compared to that, *Velma* looks like *The Mary Tyler Moore Show.*

That's the problem with people, people always thinks remakes and reboots is supposed to be the same as the originals. I've watched Velma and there was nothing wrong with it. I keep telling people that the multiverse exist, meaning there are endless different versions of the Scooby-Doo gang, they're not always the same. There was a kid's version of the Scooby-Doo gang, then the teen version of the Scooby-Doo gang, the original of the Scooby gang, and now there's the mature version of the Scooby-Doo gang. 409 that could have been a baby version of the Scooby-Doo gang or an Retro version of them. My main point is: different Earth, different Scooby-Doo characters, different plot, and a new season. Don't judge just from one episode or 10 minutes of it.
