I used to highly revere Mike Babcock when he was in Detroit. When he came to Toronto, the truth about him started to reveal his true self. The Marner situation, the Spezza situation when he sat him and all of his family came to watch him play in a game that Babcock sat him for. One does not ask another to see their photos on their phone. It does not matter if you are the Coach. This is not done. If you want to get to know someone, it is about spending TIME with someone to get to know them. Asking for a young player’s phone to view their photos is just a mental mind f*#%. EVERYONE knows this. Mike Babcock is a bully. I am glad that player’s have spoken up. Buh-bye Mike Babcock. 👋🏻

Same here. I used to love the way he spoke, the way he carried himself, and his intensity and thirst for winning. Then, I bought his book “Leave No Doubt” after he won the Olympic gold medal in 2010 and I expected to be inspired once I started reading it. In actual truth, I read it in full and was fully disappointed. Couldn’t believe it. It was so cliche in my view, full of his run of the mill statements and just a shallow read on the whole. I didn’t get anything that I felt was genuine. That is when I started viewing him in a different light, that this guy was more about appearances and less about actual substance. That was over ten years ago. Look at where things have gone since then. What a fall from grace.

You actually believe the garbage in the for-profit, I wannabe a jock, there's no hockey going on and I still have to buy my Hot pockets, media? You're going to believe that crap? That's he-said/she-said... Also known as Gossip. And that's COACH Babcock to you, to any player or fan, out of respect. He didn't retire because he did anything "wrong." He already lost the locker room. Smart coach. Here's some statistics that I'll put up next to your gossip any day, 🐔 : He's a triple-gold coach 🏆 🏅 🪙 And if you don't know what that means? then you're just part of a henhouse. If you've ever laced-up skates? Shame on you. What goes on in a locker room, stays and gets resolved in the locker room. And it could have the same outcome, that's fine -but it's none of our darned business! Like the Bruins. That was only a "shocking clickbait surprise!" 😮 to fair weather fans & anyone outside the locker room. But that got people to click. Cuz some people don't know what they're looking at. They just went along with the clickbait media. Gentleman Patrice Bergeron is too polite to speak outside of the locker room. Just because we don't understand COACH Babcock's vision, don't look to pubescent boys for truth. They are subordinates, they don't have big picture. They have to be taught how to play other positions especially hockey players for God's sake 🙄 paid for their pubescent immature energy. Mike Babcock is from Canada. When you cross into the Canadian border, it's not uncommon for border patrol to take all your devices and go through them. Ya whine about it? you're not playing hockey in Canada! So anything you can't show your mom, make sure you get off your phone before you go to Canada... What do you think they are hiding on their phones? Again-these are hockey players for God's sake. Not even Bobby Orr will talk about his younger days. You might notice when they get to the AHL, they don't let them loose in the media. For good reason Coach Mike wasn't Canadian border patrol He's a coach. Best wishes to Hall of Fame Coach Mike Babcock How many triple- gold coaches do you think there are?

two things can be true: he's a great coach and he's a terrible person. this is why people should NOT "idolize" people they do not know. you can "admire" their talent, but you do not know them in real life, so don't assume they are good/great people... they might simply be really good at their job, and that's it!
@TheFoolintherainn
@TheFoolintherainn 7 ай бұрын
@@drewjoaquin4761 if he were such an awful person he wouldn't be the only triple gold coach. You can't be effective as a coach without building trust & team loyalty between players and coaches. All these fans "know" all about Mike babcock, exactly what happened based on gossiping wannabe jocks 🙄 What I haven't heard out of these American wannabes is the fact that English is not Babcock's first language. The USA is not his first culture. Yes it makes a big difference. There are no privacy rights in canada. You turn over your devices at the border and they can go through anything they want. Canadian media and the internet are controlled. The locker room and team culture was violated by someone else on the team. Opening their pie-hole in the for-profit media. Going BEHIND someone's back to bytch in the for-profit media, during off-season when they got nothing to pay rent living in their mama's basements. "Reveal his true self" None of this testimony would hold up in a court of law This is the media for God's sake, they will rearrange your reputation based on their profit margins. Everybody "knows" all about Mike babcock..... Then what's a triple gold coach? And how many exist? You don't get those results by being a jerk. Columbus just made the biggest mistake in their franchise history. They had a golden opportunity of a lifetime. They blew it. And that's why they're going to continue to demonize Babcock. Until the rest of them are fired, driving Zamboni machines to pay their rent. Cuz they're idiots. I'm betting the Red wings would love to have him back.. but as long as they keep bashing Babcock, allow this reputation to stand? nobody will hire him. It's called "gaslighting." And if this weren't hockey, I would cheer him on suing the crap out of all these big mouths. All these people will become Zamboni drivers if they're lucky, while Mike Babcock will remain a triple gold coach.

From other reports it sounds like Babcock is a damaging narcissist who gets off on manipulating and playing mental games against his players. He messed with Chris Chelios and others while with Detroit. One player (Mike Modano) was not allowed to play when he was about to play his 1500th NHL game in his retirement year. He's not just an NHL coach. He's a triple gold coach. The fact that people have anything to say about this guy-and they don't know know what a triple gold coach is? Makes all of this moot point. All this henhouse going on and everyone I encounter doesn't even know what a triple gold coach is They're not common-there's only one. He is the best professional hockey coach worldwide. Because that's what he has in his trophy cabinet. the petty little boys that gossiped in the media, breaking the sacred rule of keeping it in the locker room, don't have anything close to The Great Coach Babcock in their trophy cabinets. That resume goes far beyond Vermont & the NHL. Ask Tim Thomas. He didn't get his Stanley Cup by training in the USA. Only one out of Coach Babcock's three major golds, has anything to do with North America. Vermont is funny about hockey. The Newport rink got a $25,000 Grant to fix it up and get kids supplies. It disappeared... Went into the state's discretionary fund. As usual I got ahold of a bunch of equipment from another hockey arena, we sold some stuff, trying to come up with cash donations, gloves hats... It was people outside of Vermont that pitched in donations to help out that rink. Not vermonters... They were waiting for another Federal Grant 🙄

The process of passing the torch at 32 Thoughts is nowhere near the process of hiring an NHL coach. No need for Friedman to insert himself into this story. Also, when Friedman says he's "not pro-politician at all" is a strange thing to say. I don't care to know what you think of politicians. My issue with this whole situation is that (if Elliotte is correct) players who don't play for Columbus initiated this, which strikes me as people with axes to grind bringing down the coach of another team. Violating people's privacy doesn't sit well with me, but hit jobs like this don't bode well for the future of coaches in the NHL.

@pjpredhomme7699 I have watched the SC and found out the way Biz talks about hockey issues is one reason I stopped watching it. When I see him on ESPN, it drives me crazy with his attitude. I wish he would just shutup. That is my opinion.

@@zackd4770 All that combined with the Marner incident. I'm shocked somebody hired him again. Certainly didn't take him long to shoot himself in the foot. The dinosaur coaching style of him and that other alleged A-hole, Mike Keenan, are thankfully mostly a thing of the past. The theory that he tries to self sabotage, and take the money and run doesn't seem that outlandish.

totally disagree on how Biz handled the secondhand news. his opening line was hey Boone get in here and let me see pictures of your throbbing C@$k he blew this up for clickbait. now we are going to have to deal with a toxic room and unending damage control on a team that has been struggling for respect for 20+ years. never liked Babcock, didn't want him here. but they endorsed him i think it was a really good sell job bye Babcock. you guys should have laid this at the feet of Biz,and the NHLPA for not putting in avenues for players to vent before it comes to this.

It’s simple. The young beta players that were scared of Babs hurting their feelings saw this as an opportunity to get rid of him and blew this all out of proportion. And Columbus’ front office was scared of the bad PR. All fear. The world we live in now, all about not hurting feelings. Coaches are going to be afraid to say anything critical of a player now, that’s coming soon.

Quit talking about older versus younger players and how they would be able to handle a Babcock differently. The guy was, IS still a smuck and the "old NHL" needs to change. Drastically. Name all the crap the NHL has been connected to since the 50's (hazing, and more etc) which needs to be torched forever and replaced by transparency and humanity. Elliot doesn't have to be sticking for that smaltz.
