Loved Barry Manilow's music back in the 70's-80's even though some people didn't consider it cool. Barry is a great singer songwriter & his music career spans nearly 7 decades. My favorite song by him is "Weekend In New England". But he had so many great songs such as "Mandy", "I Write The Songs", "Looks Like We Made It", "Can't Smile Without You", "Copacabana (At The Copa)", "Bandstand Boogie", "Tryin' To Get The Feeling Again", "Ready To Take A Chance Again", "Even Now", It's A Miracle" etc.

Hi Harri, love the hat, too cool. :) I am 61 years old and believe it or not I was actually at that concert in 1982! I saw it when he came to Los Angeles. It is something I have never forgotten, he put on a brilliant show, such a great performer. Truly one the best. It was one of those magical nights. Having an opportunity to hear great music live, is so special.

Did you notice how he sits when playing the piano. He said it's because of his height, so he sits up higher and farther away from the keys to the point where his arms are almost straight out. He said it's just more comfortable to him. It's more noticeable on other live videos.

Originally from 1976, from Barry's 4th album, "This One's For You", this is a beautifully written love story of a cherished weekend in New England. Being the Master of Melody, Barry delivers this deeply emotive piano driven ballad with perfect vocals. He has the ability to infuse each line with a heart wrenching vulnerability that is truly captivating. The piano and the sweeping arrangement of the strings, the perfect addition. Made it to Number 9 in Canada and Number 10 on the US. Barry wrote a large number of commercials early on for Tv. Great reaction Handsome Harri, even Music was drawn in. ❤❤ Beautiful song Catherine👏👏 Cheers from Canada ❤❤🇨🇦🇨🇦
Barry Manilow is blessed with a glorious abundance of talent. He was always subjected to criticism by unaccomplished “knuckle draggers” because of his very slight, effeminate appearance. He was supremely successful however, and blessed us with fantastic performances.

Barry Manilow was a favorite of mine while in my teens. Most girls were interested in Paul McCartney, Shawn Cassidy, and maybe did not want to admit they were closeted Manilow fans. I believe the older ladies were fans of him, some 50 years later, the older ladies fill his concerts, and those ladies were the teen girls when I was swooning over him. Most Manilow earlier songs' endings have a (what I call) big production type ending. Manilow has gone through phases of different genre of music. From TV commercials, the songs when I was listening to him (mostly the 1970's), Broadway, Jazz, etc... It is good to hear an old favorite of mine and brings back days of my past.

I was/am a huge Manilow fan and saw him several times live in the 80's and 90's. His voice can raise the hair on the back of your neck. In 1985 he made a for TV movie of Copacabana (produced by Dick Clark), much in the style of a musical. Annette O'Toole starred as Lola and Barry was Tony. It won an Emmy. You can probably find it on KZbin. Now I need to try to find it........I had recorded it on VHS back in the day and my best friend and I watched it a lot.

Barry was Bette Midler's pianist and played in the Continental Baths in New York City very early in their careers. Bette's career skyrocketed after the Devine Miss M album, which Barry played piano on. He left after that to start his own solo career, but Bette was very hurt by his leaving and the rift has never been healed. Both are huge talents and made their marks in music history.

Catherine, I have watched a grainy black-and-white old home movie from 1971 (transferred to digital) on KZbin of a Bette Midler performance at the Continental Baths in NYC. She is hysterical and oh so talented, and you can hear and sometimes see Barry Manilow accompanying her on piano. Fun stuff! Have you seen it? It's 54 minutes long. The video quality sucks, but you can almost feel like you were there. 🙂 ... Bette Midler - Continental Baths Concert (1971)

I seem to recall that he was Bette Midler's musical director at one stage. He was a musical genius and a superb performer. And - sorry Harri - he was super popular in the sixties! This has always been one of my all-time favourite songs. But I feel the live version from the Greek Theater (1978) is a far better performance. This one here is great, but the Greek Theater version is simply stunning.
