You can't do an evil thing for the greater good. That's the lesson of this movie. Once you open that door, you are constantly doing evil things to reach your goal. A good "end" never justifies evil "means." We live in the "means", the "ends" are an imagined possible future. The vast majority of people on this planet have not learned this lesson.

I can relate very well with Michael Andersson here. I was watching this with my 7 Year old son, lying in bed together, and not long after that my ex wife leaves me and took him with her to completly another town, to live with his new "stepfather". He was only 7 years old, and tied on me like you could never imagine. Luckily, we are still tied and love each other madly. But i thought i will end up in mental institution. I was completly ALONE and broken in a small place of 2000 people. If i didin't go insane then, probably i never will. But i lived on tranquilizers every day, didn't sleep for months, and this movie always made me cry. I can't even imagine anything so hard as loosing your own child. Not many people can survive that and stay normal.

That little dopey cheater billy was being controlled by linoge to kill his gf but his will was so strong he stopped. Linoge got so angry he said to himself " she his gf was right u are a coward than she bashed him with the paint can. So it proved linoge could only control weak people which this town of mostly sinners was picked as Mike said. He even said when he took Ralphie " u tricked ourselves " Mike begged them to stand up to him. Not one of them did. How did hatch think Mike could possibly stay there after his son b/c of those idiots was taken by a demon or Satan himself. Wow Mike became a federal Marshall. Mike's wife really was pathetic.
