The Engines of Sodor Episode II: Gordon Goes Swimming: Part 2

WARNING: THIS CONTAINS LANGUAGE UNSUITABLE FOR ANYONE UNDER 12. Here's part 2. Gordon's attempt to break the Mallard's speed record ends him up in the sea. But can Mallard rescue him? Because I will be in England, episode 3 wont be on youtube until August. However, I've already finished the script as well as episodes 4 and 5. I'll be writing episode 6 on my iPod in England. Episode 3 will feature the narrow gauge engines.

1:30 but Henry has been craned out of the water in the episode "Something in the Air". Although Henry is a bit lighter then Gordon. Henry weighs around 72-75 tons while Gordon weights 91.35 tons. But still he could have been craned out of the water.

A very interesting plot concept. I love the idea of Gordon having a bit of a feud with Mallard. :) But honestly, a lot of this makes no sense, particularly as to why an 90+ ton steam engine is submerging itself to pull another 90+ ton steam engine out of deep water. There's absolutely no logic in that. A sturdy crane or two could have easily gotten Gordon out of the water.

I don't need to mention the swearing: I see your comment. It won't pop up in my "critiques" any more. That being said, this was a satisfying conclusion, and a good story overall. I enjoyed it. Something I found jarring was the change from the normal outro to the orchestrated credits. They weren't connected. I like the orchestration, I just feel it could be connected better to the rest of the score. I trust that the decision to break this into two parts is because of the old KZbin limit on runtime. It really doesn't need it; I feel it's detrimental to the story. It was still well-filmed, however, and that crash! Very good indeed! James' voice needs some work, I find his delivery too fast. All of the voices could do with some quality control, as well. The music is still well-connected to the story; it's well-executed. Overall, the stories are on the uptick, and I'm going to keep watching. I'll probably subscribe if I enjoy the first season enough. Also, it's just occurred to me that I haven't told you how I found you. The "Top 20 Worst Classic Series Episodes" popped up in my recommendations because I watched some videos of the theme. I think it started with a video of the theme on calliope (great instrument). You mentioned Engines of Sodor in that video, which prompted to go through your videos and find it. I must say, the history and variety of your work impresses me! I know it can't be easy to go on for 5 years, but you're doing fine. Great job, and here's to more Thomas! Also James in the credits twice. Hahaha!

I know I'm three years late but if they did take Gordon's tender out of the water for a few years after he got one rebuilt for him. They probably would've scrapped it, or gave him two tenders. But it is most likely a pile of rust.

Well there was another time Gordon tried to break a record. remember the episode "It's good to Be Gordon"? Now he would have set a new record and nothing would have gone wrong, for him. But in the end he failed as he felt guilty when he stole Henry's coal. But he could have pulled into the station to set his record and then helped Henry after that! Ah well, wonder what will be the next record he'll try to break.

i know i regret how this was written, but mallard towed gordon out on the quay because none of the cranes at the docks were sturdy enough, but like i said before this wasnt written well. by the way, could i have your opinion on something? you seem to know what is a good thomas story and what is not. episode three involves a guy shooting at duncans passenger train and duncan in a police investigation trying to find him. (no one is killed). should i use this or is it too senstive?

Solid rocket fuel burns underwater, and a steam locomotive could feasibly use that in place of coal. Don't try to use solid rocket fuel in a car engine. It doesn't go well.

This was an interesting story, but there is no way this would have worked in real life. Firstly, a locomotive with Mallard's tall driving wheels isn't meant for pulling, so getting Gordon up that slope would have been a real challenge. Secondly, Mallard would have sunk the rails to the quay, and sunk wheel-deep into the harbour. Thirdly, by putting Mallard in water, the boiler's outside would have been exposed to extreme cold, with the inside exposed to extreme heat, wearing out the stay bolts. Fourthly, if a longer rope had been used, the whole underwater business could have been completely avoided. I don't mean to nitpick, but it's not really doable!
