I lost my dream job this year because of massive layoffs and also went through the identity crisis, I am still in this ‘transition’ process and dark time. Now I really appreciate that I am a human and I want to identify as a human not software engineer or manager. Sending you a lot of support from Warsaw, Poland! I love your videos, promoting them in my small community. 8w7

9w1 I used to work in ministry abroad but eventually came out of the closet. Of course most ministry organizations find these two things to be mutually exclusive. I had to trust I knew what was "love", "truth", and how I could move through the world in love with the church opposed to me. A friend once told me, "Whatever is true is true about god." For me that has also meant that the true things I've discovered about myself and the world through the Enneagram aren't against God. Proud that you've moved forward trusting your inner voice! Your "Hundred Acre Woods" video has helped me trust my voice and move through the world in love.

You remind me of my dad, a longtime pastor and 7w6 father of 4 grown kids.. he originally wanted to plant a church, but his passion for local humanitarian aid that superceeded religion did outgrow/“get pushed in a corner” .. it can hurt in the process but this happened to my dad with two churches over time and he is currently a master networker, world changer, teacher of teachers, with all his fun hobbies and side gigs. I feel proud of him and I feel happy for you because God is the one who opens and closes doors, and God sees around corners we can’t. I appreciate all your videos Tom, thank you.

As a Christian who has been learning about and studying the Enneagram, I'm so thankful for you and your channel and the authenticity you're bringing to this channel. My favorite thing about the Enneagram is that it's helped give me language to relate better to God and to others, as well as pointing out areas that can become problems. As someone who has been through church hurt multiple times (three big ones and a handful of smaller stuff), just thank you for being open and willing to talk about this. Your videos have been both a source of knowledge (and wisdom) and encouragement to me over the past year or so. "A voice of reason and debacle"... I feel like this is a PERFECT way to describe a 7!

Dr. LaHue I really cannot overstate how many doors you helped me open within myself. As an 8w7, I related so well to our common 7 tendency to absorb every bit of detail available on something you're passionate about. You inspired me to learn everything I could about the Enneagram and I will be grateful for the rest of my life to have found your videos. When a church and God are each showing you different paths, you know which way to go!

"The church is like a barn full of barn animals." I laughed out loud. So true, people are messy and we all have issues, thats why we need to love each other. Great video, I have loved your videos for a long time and the enneagram has changed my life forever. So sorry for the hurt and pain you had to endure through all of this but it sounds like it's all for the greater good, and the disappointment has opened even bigger doors for you to help people. You've definitely helped me. Thanks for all you do.

Hello Tom, I am an 8 wing 7. I relate to your 7 in the context of the passion around helping others at church through the Enneagram. Unfortunately, some people just want to hear warm messages without looking too much inward. It is great to hear that people not only transitioned to a new church but initiated all of it. I think many people deep down want to get to the core issues that developed our unique personalities that can unknowingly drive each of us to pain. Now.....the 8 in me wants you to go back to the previous leadership and give them the double middle finger with prolonged eye contact. :) I am a secular non-believer and I just want to say you provide the right balance in your videos. I have bought books you've referenced and you've made a positive impact in my life. Keep up the good work.

As an 8, I just wanna say that it takes some SERIOUS balls to withstand pressure like that within your church. I sort of just do it impulsively. “Oh you don’t like me talking about that? Screw off!” But I can imagine for a 7 who likes to be the center of the action, how difficult it must have been to have people rejecting what you were trying to do. You have my respect. Press on.

Jesus was a carpenter on top of being the savior of God, yeah? Imagine God being like, yo…this carpenter gig is not gonna fly. You’re either all savior or all carpenter. He wouldn’t. Just as Jesus still loves saving, would still love God despite god after having been given an ultimatum, WHILE also being a carpenter, you can and you are doing the same in your situation. To many of us, you’re master carpenter. We are beyond grateful for you, Tom.

If it makes you feel any better, your channel helped me a lot 🌸 I may not be super active anymore but in the pandemic I got the time to study the enneagram and wow it did me good, still use all I learned then. I remember it was one of your videos where I finally figured out my type, you said something like: how to piss off an 8? Put something on their calendar without asking them first, because you take away their control over their own schedule, and I knew it. Before digging into the subtypes I thought I'm too mellow to be an 8 but 8w9 is literally the mellow 8, and the more I learned about 8s the more it made sense. I love talking about the enneagram & mbti too but don't like to push them on people, but I do try to figure out people's types in my head to relate/work better with each. It's super useful for someone who always ends up in some sort of leadership/project coordinator position & finally opened my own business last month 🥳

In a nutshell... I really appreciate your content. And your curiosity... and delightful 7/Ne-ness. And most of all: your willingness to grow and to take us - whoever the us may be - along if we want. As a non-religious person, I am so appreciative of Fr Richard Rohr - and not just his enneagram stuff. One of his books I have loved the most - and have read several times and will again - is Falling Upward. We all need to fall upward. We all need to transcend the first-half-of-life boxes that we build. That is the work you are doing. There is something (said from my secular, non-tribal perspective) sacred about that kind of work. Brave, beautiful and sacred. So when you, despite your strong 6-wing, say 'not gonna happen'... dear Dr. Tom: I say "Amen". 💜

I've been subscribed to you for years now. I started learning about the enneagram as a teenager. When I became a young adult, I got to the point where I felt that I could no longer use the enneagram as a tool of growth, and it had turned into something that I had made a part of my personality, and so I stopped studying it. That being said, there is no doubt that the enneagram did help mold me into who I am now, even if it is no longer a part of my life, and the enneagram community that I was a part of helped mold me even more so. It was the community I found your channel on. I have no doubt that your counseling has touched many people's lives, and it saddens me that people at your church did not see the value of your passions. I'm not a Christian (my denomination is Hebrew roots), but I always found the idea of someone focusing all of their time and energy on the local church to be strange, as all of the leaders of my denomination either have separated full-time jobs or make themselves busy with other things. They're not payed to be leaders, but still, it is strange. I'm sorry for that. I commend you for not giving up on what you believe you were called to do.

First of all I love your series and you are very gifted speaker. Secondly, from my own experience I can wholeheartedly say: If the student is ready the teacher will appear. I have been introduced to the enneagram about 6 years ago but couldn‘t relate to Richard Rohr‘s biblical references. The book was just sitting on my shelf. Three years later I felt completely stuck in life and bought another book about the Ennegram. OMG it changed my life because I finally understood my personality and to use my traits to improve instead of adopting traits that are totally out of my character, forced and will make me miserable.

Thank you for sharing and your message of resilience, when facing rejection. I want to say that I find your authentic and open personality, uplifting. I have heard that many folks, men and women, who have been on decades long search for self understanding, quite literally cry tears of comfort when they learn about themselves, through the enneagram. I just thought that I would briefly share about an Irish author, Ronan Gallagher, that I saw a short video about on KZbin, and he has written a book called, Stop Being Yourself... a practical take on the Enneagram personality framework. He was a successful lawyer but quit and is devoted to running Industry workshops and courses etc, on the Enneagram. I actually ordered the book because he writes a fictional character with each number) and has 2 voices going, what the person says but also what is going on unconsciously. I will share with you what I think of it, once it travels to Canada. Anyway, follow your heart. PS My son is exactly your Try type and is loved by all. Peace. A Canadian "2".

I found the enneagram very eye opening and helpful. But the resistance I got was that if I allow it, it could take the place of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. I had to ask myself am I seeking God and his will more or the enneagram more. If it leads people to the cross and resurrection of Christ - repentance of sins, it can be a positive. We must be careful as to who is our first love and only hope for salvation. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️

I was convicted to continue to love people when it's hard (and many times, it's hard because people want to "stay asleep," as you mentioned) and reminded that God is still a God of mercy and hope. He cares and intervenes when the church, the world, and life itself beat us up like the tumble cycle in a dryer. I needed that reminder. So, thank you. What an interesting and inspiring story. I have been watching your videos for a while and wondered what your background was and how you used the enneagram. I am a huge fan of personality psychology and did the enneagram profile some years ago. After following God’s calling and recently receiving my masters in counselling and psychotherapy I started my own business and as you described “living my best life”. A client came to me citing he was told about the enneagram and would benefit from learning more about himself. There began my journey of seeking to learn more! I’d be interested in what courses you offer to teach practitioners how to learn all the types and bring it effectively into the counselling space? The Lord certainly closed one door for you to effectively follow His calling and now to have returned to the church is a testament to your gifting. Thank you for blessing me. Sharon, South Australia.

I’m glad you managed to still inspire your local people just like you inspire people online, and it was a good turn of events that now your new church is with you on the enneagram thing.

Your Enneagram 9 videos was really an eye opening and made self aware . They were really painful to listen to , brought tears often but truly appreciate them and I can say I a much healthier 9 thanks to all of your wisdom and insights . Thank you so much Dr. , Am sorry you had to go through all of that , and having to choose but I want to say I am really grateful for your choice .

Finding your videos has helped me so much. I don’t think you’re negative at all. You give a message that is real and can be a hit to the gut but it’s delivered in a non judgmental, and easy to understand way. And personally I tend to stay away from Christian’s because of the hurt I hadn’t dealt with from my own church experience. But I’ve unpacked a lot in the couple years I’ve been learning about the enneagram and I appreciate that there are Christians like you who truly love people the way Jesus did.

That's really painful. I still think you did the right thing in sharing your passion. I hope that you can become a pastor again one day. Sometimes people who introduce new, great ideas can experience backlash but the world still benefits. I hope that a church will benefit from your teaching again some day. Also, I do not find your videos negative. If you can't see the dark side of things there is literally no way to identify the problem. So thank you! I learn a lot from your videos.

Love this that you shared your story!! My first appt with you was in June 2020. I had been listening to your KZbin videos for a while and knew that my husband and I needed your coaching. After about a year of continuing to watch every new KZbin and a few coaching sessions as well, I knew you were going to go full time with enneagram coaching. Being a type 9, I saw it happening!!! Congrats and thank you for all the help you have given my family. Our lives are forever changed and our relationships are filled with grace and understanding like never before!!

This is a remarkable story Dr Lahue. I can relate. The true message of the gospel is God wants to restore certain truths to his church and his people. I wish you had some kind of open forum that would make it possible for myself (and others like me) to discuss particular points on these topics with you.

Tom, I am so grateful for all your videos. I had known about the Enneagram from my therapist but a conflict with a close family member led me to your videos and helped clarify so much about myself and the people in my life in a way that gave me much compassion and understanding. I'm not a Christian (in part because of their intolerance for other approaches to spirituality) but I do love Jesus's message, and isn't compassion what Jesus encouraged in us? Thank you for putting your heart into this.

I have found a lot of it is about the way you frame it- a lot of ppl don't like being analyzed because they are scared of ppl seeing them for their insevurities- people 1) need to be in a place to receive it 2) you need to be able to explain to them Why you would want to know and how you will use the results in a positive way

Oh Tom...I'm so Sorry to hear about the decision made by your past Church's Leadership...that's sad. The Lord has certainly moved you into a more beautiful place in spite of it. Your new teaching on Resilience will be filled with the same Authenticity and Vulnerability as your videos...your lived experience gives you much kudos as you teach. My other thought as you were speaking was "Welcome to The World of The 5"....the downside bit of wanting to share all this wonderfulness but the world isn't interested or doesn't want it or worse...give us curry because of it. Hence the Hermit Hut on the edge of town. BUT! The World Needs 5's and 7's who go to 5...! Well Done for being Salty and Light through your tough year. The Lord Bless you and your Family. Cheers! I love your videos! The enneagram is accurate and sometimes people don't want to hear the truth in why they're a certain way. They get offended because they just don't want to hear about their personality traits. It's okay to be excited about this stuff! I definitely get excited about this stuff.. it's so accurate to me too and I've been studying it for years! I'm either a 5 or a 4.. well I score 4,5 and 6 as my dominant types and I definitely use them all very heavily to be honest.. yet I score highest in the 5 but when I talk to people through messages or face to face, when I'm trying to connect with people I come across a lot more like a 4.. I do relate to the SX 4 variant heavily too though and the SP variant heavily but not completely, yet I also relate to the SX and SP variant of the 5 as well.. so it's really hard for me to type myself, I relate to the 4w5 and 5w4 description so maybe I have a a really strong wing? Also the 5w6 description in a way too but not completely.. I relate most to 5 and 4.. I love your videos though and I think they're very insightful and helpful!

As a fellow 7. That was me when i first realized about enneagram. I sent links of enneagram tests for everyone in my group chats. Of course, I later stopped cause a lot of people were not interested. I was kinda disappointed but i realized what you said: not everyone is ready or should know all knowledge out there when they are not ready.

There are some pursuits that will always be viewed as secular in believer communities. I think all these things - tritypes, MBTI, DISC etc are guides to help you understand yourself and others. But if they become rules that may threaten the rules of the Bible, I suspect many church goers will not be open to reviewing them. For me, they are all ways of understanding what we've been given by God. But for many believers, I know that these things are seen as esoteric and too open minded. I hope you can find a clan that you jibe with better.

Hey Tom, Im glad that things are working out for you and youre doing what you want to do. I would just like to make a comment about something I noticed... also, I understand that this is an enneagram channel and not a myers briggs and or Objective Personality, so If my comment makes no sense just disregard lol. Im going to use some jargon here and if ever youre curious enough what they are, feel free to look it up or message me. It was mentioned that youre an ENFP which is an observer but I cant help but notice that this video is potentially more of how a decider will talk... which makes you either an exxj or ixxp... Im guessing more IxxP potentially infp. Eitherway l, great video and thanks for sharing and listening

Went to church for years, got to involved and figured out it seemed they were running a business, all about numbers and gaining new members which also means more money coming in. Deacon ran off with another man’s wife, church split, pastor left… Probably will never go to church again, Christians ruined it for me 😊
