I honestly think Hermitcraft had a big impact in keeping the game from death between 2016-2018, being the biggest SMP ever since Mindcrack was replaced with Scicraft, a much more niche spiritual successor. Hermitcraft especially has many creators entering essentially symbiotic relationships with each other so they all benefit from their own niches overlapping - but there's space for everyone to exist away from ach other, and a new gimmick each season to keep it fresh.

As a 40+ year old mom who started playing at 1.13, I loved this so much. I saw the things my kid loved, and the creators that they adored when they were younger and it was nice memories. But the part about the game maturing was so on the head. Once my kid matured and the content matured, I actually became interested in the game myself. Discovering Hermitcraft and Scicraft really sold it. I love the more mature section that’s grown in the content.

Im so glad more adults are getting into the game. I grew up with Minecraft and feel an eternal bond with it and the people i watched that played it. It's like watching a story unfold. It's bittersweet but also an amazing feeling.

I played Roblox first in 2017. Not an og. But I am a Minecraft enjoyer. Back then I had no expensive tech to run Minecraft, so I just played them on mobile or maybe just watch stampy or popularmmos or dantdm. I used to be in a hotel where there's an xbox console inside the hotel's play area. The xbox had multiple games. One of them had minecraft game. I legit would be waiting for my turn. I loved minecraft.

I enjoyed the video too. The only problem I had with it was when there was music with lyrics in the background, it was very distracting to me. I found it difficult to listen to his voice while also trying to tune out the lyrics that were playing on in the background. This may only be me however. It’s like listening to one person talk while someone else is also trying to talk to you. I still enjoyed the video though and good job!

One of my earliest memories of Minecraft was in 2012, when I met my biological sister for the first time, she was 16, and I was like 12 years old. I had never even heard of the game, and she introduced me. She had built this rig to basically auto mine so she didn’t have to hold down the button, and we were just laughing eating dinner, and watching her auto mining. It may not have been super interesting compared to what we have now, but it was so fun to me.

Something that is important to note too is that many of these KZbinrs had significant history before Minecraft. Seananners and CaptainSparklez for example were CoD players, they worked for a company called MachinimaRespawn which back in those days was enormous. MANY of the Minecraft commentators interestingly enough were some of the OG CoD commentators back in a time where gaming commentary was completely new and exploding. But I guess going over such history would make a 2 hour video into a 5 hour video lol.

Covid and the quarentine has definitely helped with Minecraft's resurgence and domination once again. Stuck at home, both kids and adults have had nothing better to do. Kids find Minecraft new and fun while adults find it nostalgic and cool to see the progress and new stuff that's happened. Even my uncle, who hasn't played since around 1.5 or so, jumped back in after I told him about all the crazy new stuff since then!

I didn't know how split stacks back in 2010. So i always farmed 128 planks to craft a single stick. I also remember my first "afk mob farm" which was completly useles. It was a basically a hole with water in it so the zombies drowned.. it was horrible :D My first minecraft video was from a german youtuber called "Gronkh" he had like 1000 subs back than. I started playing when the alpha 1.1.2_01 was released... a few updated after the fences where added.

Man, the memories are flooding back. I first learned about the game from Skydoesminecraft and immediately became obsessed. I remember begging my mom for the game, looking at the wiki and looking at the adventure maps being uploaded. Im a minecraft veteran but i wouldn't have found this game if Sky's video didnt pop up instead of my funny cat videos. This has been one hell of a journey and im glad i was here for a HUGE amount of this games history.

I specifically remember 2013 being the year where I really got into Minecraft, although as a 7 year old, I was young enough to not realize just how new Minecraft was during that time. But that’s where my passion for Minecraft really came through. I had been on and off of Minecraft previously but having opportunities to play with my brother made me obsessed. 1.14 is where I met my best friend and current girlfriend too. We went to the same school but I remember her asking me how to make a potion of weakness and because I didn’t know I ended up googling it and it’s how we learned we both had an obsession with Minecraft. I owe my friendship to her to Minecraft. It’s definitely a place to make friends

Even in a 2 hour video, there were still huge sections of Minecraft KZbin that didn't get much coverage in this video. That just goes to really show how many different avenues Minecraft has to explore over the years. I feel like the Mod Showcase and SMP communities weren't talked about enough given how many hours I've watched of those over so many years. Mindcrack, Hermitcraft, How to Minecraft, The Cube SMP, and so many more SMP series had some of the best collaborations and banter that I still remember fondly on. Mod Showcases also had a huge following from 2011 to... idk, 2016? Especially in those early days, people like, you mentioned, GameChap, and many independent content creators, some like iPodMan making literally over 1,000 Mod review videos really had their own thing going back then.

Ahhhh THE NOSTALGIAAAAA i think some of my first ever minecraft youtubers were Little Kelly and Dantdm like i would binge watch every single one of their videos wayy back when i was just a little child starting to take a look at what the hype about minecraft and youtube was. I still think it’s astonishing that a late 2000s indie game made by someone, who at the time was a nobody, managed to take a good portion of an entire industry. Video games were a smaller medium back then but they were still an established industry with recognizable brands and franchises, meaning competition against the same AAA companies back then wasn’t that much different from today. It makes Minecraft’s massive success a miracle cause while you see indie games today like undertale and pubg creating huge changes to the gaming industry and internet landscape, they don’t take over a portion of the establishment and usually just become their own massive sectors (i.e battle royale, while massive, has not managed to dethrone traditional game design formulas). Minecraft on the other hand, just took over a portion of that establishment and created equal footing with the big companies. I didn’t get the massive acquisition of Minecraft in 2014 but it makes sense now why a big tech giant like Microsoft saw value in the IP. No random product just comes out of nowhere and takes up a major portion of an industry and any products that do have probably massively altered said industry.

I know this video is a year old, but I just got it recommended to me and decided to watch it. Absolutely in tears man... 2012 (or '13, can't really remember) was the year I got into Minecraft and the KZbinrs. So much nostalgia, I honestly don't know what else to say besides that was one of the best years of my life. Only 22 minutes in and I already believe this is a phenomenal video, simply amazing. Also, a huge thank you to the Minecraft KZbinrs, you've made so many childhoods great, all of you have my eternal gratitude.

I also watch Seamus' (SSoHPKC) Longtime girlfriend, Ashhbearr (Now SylveeTV) on her Twitch and Seamus will sometimes hop on voice and pick on chat. Seamus has also started uploading videos on KZbin again... It all started to happen after they got the office and Kootra (The boss) started treating it more like a business than a group of friends playing games....after a few members leaving and MAJOR DRAMA, Immortal and Nova (with a few of their editors) left and started Cowchop, which I followed closely until members started leaving them...so sad...
