EPA is pushing electric vehicles by literally choking civilian internal combustion engines intake and exhaust systems. How come military combat vehicles do not have to comply with EPA regulations? Answer: Because the military understands first hand the failure rate and down time of EPA emission equipped diesel engines. Regulations for thee not for me.

@t-yoonit8 күн бұрын
Why does the military get fully deleted stuff? Well for reliability and cost of course. These vehicles are critical, and must remain operational. It also makes them cheaper. Meanwhile the military industrial complex pays 2-3x the value because it's a government contract, and us normies get to bear the financial weight of EGR, DPF and SCR fucking up our vehicles in the name of saving the environment while our friends on the other side of the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean continue to belch out enough emissions in a week to offset an entire decade of "the greater good" we have done. Killing our wallets in the process. Disable your emissions devices. Block off your EGR, knock out your DPF, delete your SCR systems and move to a state that doesn't do inspections. Fuckem.

It's the corporations that are pushing these rules through. They want to force you to buy new, it's not really working though, because who can afford it? One way to fix this, would be at the state level. Pass a "pause payment act" where if your piece of equipment is down for more than 48 hours, any finance payment on it is paused until it's fixed. If the total down time for the year exceeds 30 days, then the entire year's finance payment is refunded. The only way to fix this is to hit them in the wallet, because that's all they care about.

Welcome to Europe 3.0. In Latin America, even BIG companies like C-Cola use old trucks and trailers, and they keep on repairs for their bottling distribution. Wonder Bread (BIMBO in Mx) still uses the old boxed bread wagons of 30 yrs ago. Very few companies buy new heavy equipment of any kind due to electronics. They buy TONS of surplus equipment from the US. They have their own foundries and convert any electronic hybrid part back to 100% mechanical. There is an entire billion dollar equipment repair industry in Latin America from Mexico all the way down to Argentina. And guess what: They (the small companies) are profitable and stay in business. Has anybody heard the word "BRICS" ? They DO NOT want, and they DON'T need "OUR" electronics to keep their industries profitable. Electronics is the new way to keep small companies in America SUBSERVIENT to the dealers, the corporations, and their CEOs ($$$). But the 7.3 is super simple, tows awesome for a gasser, and obviously a super duty is a MUCH better, safer tow/haul platform than any half ton. I’m currently a dealer tech (they pay far and wide the highest) there are tons of garbage techs most are garbage because they’re green and still thrown in a truck for field service.

The EPA is not a governing body. They cannot arbitrarily make rules and regulations or laws that are enforceable. 🤷🏻♂️ It's just another alphabet agency that needs to be gotten rid of permanently 🤷🏻♂️

Why do you care you live in rural north colorado there is no emissions inspection even required. Additionally no one but people with too damn much money and no brains are buying these new 100k plus trucks. If your smart you keep a old diesel truck maintained like myself and my 2001 Ram Cummins.
@life_of_riley888 күн бұрын
Because we're gonna run out of old crappy trucks to keep on the road some day. Some people(business owners) can't just buy 25-30 year old diesel pickups and run them till they die. Some people want a GOOD new pickup or medium duty piece of equipment.

I'm more from the gas world but every dealership I've worked for has had to buy all their equipment and pay for subscriptions just like anyone else who wants that stuff. The difference is that they're contractually obligated to do so. Nothing was ever "supplied". I would also say that dealership work quality started to fall in 2008 when manufacturers became stingy with labor times if they paid at all. This is only going to get worse with these extended periods.

There is already a bit of a quiet revolution against new , overteched, expensive equipment. That can be seen especially at farm equipment auctions. Older , solid rebuildable tractors, etc are not going down in value, they're going up due to demand. Same with older pickups. Prices have doubled on some models in the last 5 years.

The real problem here is a lack of self reflection for our own part. Most people willingly pay into this "system" to oppress themselves. Solution: No more tax money, no more whipping post. The issue lies with in our lack of convictions. We don't really stand for anything, or have defined boundaries anymore, so it's no wonder things keep getting worse all around us.

You just have to find a good dealer, I found one in a rual area to do my RAM emmision recall that has dedicated diesel mechanics come in once a month and they do good work. Had them go ahead and do my valve lash, and my drivetrain fluids. On the other hand ive seen dealers in the city that are clueless, I woudlnt let them change my oil.

John Deere definitely works with EPA. They tried to corner the market on chainsaws by purchasing the patent for catalytic converters for small 2 stroke engines. They lobbied the EPA to regulate chainsaws. Stihl had developed "strat" style engines so long before the patent wasn't still valid. The manufacturers LOVED them for it. EPA saw lasts 30% as long as, well the one you deleted before it left the shop.

The EPA and emissions rules are a joke. They claim to want less emissions, then make regulations that actually INCREASE emissions (when the big picture is looked at). For example- they keep tightening the MPG requirements, but also choke the engines off with emissions controls which reduce fuel mileage. Some of us are old enough to remember the 1980s when there were many new vehicles available which got very high MPG. From just my personal experience, my mother's Nissan Pulsar got over 40mpg. My Nissan Sentra got over 40mog, and that was with a lead foot high school kid driving it. VWs, Toyotas, and many other cars easily got high 30s or better. There were even several pickups available which got very good fuel mileage. My 1984 Mazda B2000 got high 30s. My 1982 Toyota 4x4 got well into the 20s. I had several Suzuki Samurai 4x4s that got close to 30mpg. How many compact pickups- and I mean real pickups with a frame that can haul and tow, not a unibody car with a tiny box on the back- can get over 25mpg now? How many passenger/economy cars can get 40mpg? And remember, the prices of these vehicles was very low and maintenance was simple. We aren't talking about a $60k hybrid or a $50k truck with a tiny engine and turbo that won't last. Fast forward to the 90s. There were full size diesel pickups that got well over 20mpg. Several Dodge Cummins trucks I drove got over 25mpg. Those diesels were well known to last hundreds of thousands of miles with only basic maintenance- fluid & filter changes and sometimes valve adjustments. Now by 100k miles most diesel trucks have been in the shop multiple times for emissions related repairs. While the truck might put out slightly lower exhaust emissions, they use more fuel to drive, and all of those emissions parts create emissions during the manufacturing process, and create pollution when they fail early and get thrown in the trash. While on the surface a customer might think a longer warranty will save them money, that cost will be added to the price of the truck as well as cost the technicians money because warranty pay is less than customer pay. We the consumer, and we the technicians, will be the ones paying for the EPA stupidity, not the car manufacturers, or better yet, the EPA themselves, who demand these changes.

What they are trying to do is force manufacturers to make emissions systems reliable, they are currently the most unreliable part of most equipment. The manufacturers could make them reliable if they wanted to but the last couple decades they have gotten away with the minimal viable.

remove emission regulating equipment from your vehicles, suggest others to do the same. Do not register your vehicle, drive it anyways, don't insure your vehicle. Break the law. If you get tickets for this, don't goto court, if police raid your house, take them with you.

Also for 25 you can’t buy or install a residential air conditioner with 410A. The new Freon has propane in it and you have to switch out the indoor air handler along with the outdoor condenser. The costs and complexity will skyrocket. Back when we used to be able to buy and install simple cheap R22 units before 2007 they would last 20 years or more. HVAC is one of the reasons house prices have gone up.

Would be interested in hearing your take on how Canada is limiting sales of manual transmissions to 10% of cumulative sales,pushing automated automatics because they are more efficient. I work in the LTL side of trucking and from my experience the automatics we have are quit a bit better on fuel than the manuals I have driven on my route no matter what I do. Routes about 612 miles a day use about 75 gallons with the auto,the manual on average consumes 5-10 gallons more of fuel. Pretty significant savings.i run a mountain route similar to what you would experience running 70 west of dentin the Rockies,so not much you can do in terms of fuel conservation.
@ColtWR8 күн бұрын
That's interesting the auto saves that much in fuel. However it doesn't surprise me. The more you can. Take the opportunity for human error out the better you will usually do. But Canada's law about sales is still silly to me.

Holy crap...you are definitely onto something here with the mandatory extended warranties. I feel so bad for the people it really affects, because this move just might bring a very large group of people back into diesels all for the warranty... and they won't care how it affects people like yourself, so long as it's covered under warranty.

Can we get 25 year smog exempt in California. I hope Trump does something about California . So goes California so goes the Nation. We can’t let this happen. We can’t even tune cars down here. Carb is setting up bar checkpoints on public roads that aren’t legal. And any replacement part that is close to being emissions related needs to be Carb approved and 3 times the price.
