I was his newspaper boy in Lima, Ohio, and knew Mr Berryman that invented Berrymans Chemtool... At one time, it was produced in a shack outback behind his house in the growing neighborhood... In fact, the neighborhood was called The "Berryman Addition" in the Shawnee High School and former Shawnee Indian area... He worked daytime at a Chemical Division "Vistron" near SOHIO Lima Refineries now BP and invented Berrymans Chemtool on his own time, while also building many of our neighborhood houses... The neighbors got upset a long time ago: as his shack blew up and left a deep crater about 2 football fields long, that became a small lake... The older neighbor lady told me, "They run his business out of town," and he set up production of Chemtool in Texas... He was old even when we moved in as I started 1st grade in 1962... My dad had bought our house off the head plant manager of the Lima Ford Engine Plant "V8 MEL" "Future 2.3 Turbo Lima engine" Mr Berrymans Daughter and son inlaw live next door to us and had through the years some very incredible cars... Mr Berryman was in his 90's and still a very mobile man, as he was driving his no rust, faded dark greyish, 1938 Plymouth 4 door around doing chores in early afternoons... At one time in his younger years, he took the Plymouth on the road to different cities and literally made motel bathtube, "Gin style." Chemtool packaging it and sold the next day... !!

EPA banned the best parts cleaner in the 1990's. It was McKay's carb and parts cleaner. It was also sold by motors carb and parts cleaner. It would eat the bottom of the can out in a year. It would boil carburetors out entirely in 10-15 minutes. Anything longer than that and it would start dissolving an aluminum carburetor

Well that explains it. The gallon I bought 30 or so years ago was great but did eat through the bucket. The one I bought 15 years ago was crap so sometime between the 2 they must have split the formula into Pro and Plebe. Even spray Chemtool is weak compared to olde tyme Gumout.

This is one of the main reasons that we decided to go with a Kubota. At the time a few years ago JD was in the deep throws of calling everyone stupid and un American for even daring to question their motives! JD was getting a lot of crap in Congress and state legislatures for their anti right to repair stance that they had at the time. Today they still pretty much are locked down but they've lied to all the farmers and government and told them that they can work on their own tractor while making parts unavailable and still locking down the diagnostic systems. When we went to look for a tractor, we discovered the model we wanted was 25% more than the Kubota we choose. What inevitably sealed the deal for us just when I found out the model we were interested in was made outside of the United States with mostly foreign parts with some assembly done in the US to get it around tariffs and taxes. The Kubota we chose is assembled in the US with mostly American produced parts and the Japanese made Kubota engine. The JD tractor we wanted had an engine made in India and some parts from China and Mexico. Also when we walked in to the JD dealership, they basically treated us like we had to buy it from them and had absolutely no choice. The arrogance was stunning, so we walked out went down to the Kubota dealership put down a deposit and ended up with a tractor were very happy with that supported American workers in Georgia USA! I don't have any BS on my tractor that I can't work on, there is no software locked anything and if I want I can go down to the Kubota dealer and order the parts I need and fix it myself or take it into them. JD is pushing themselves out of the market just to satisfy their shareholders, much like many American businesses these days.
