This episode solidified my obsession with game of thrones. I was still on the edge about this show before I watched it and it completely changed my mind. The show is still one of my all time favs

I never got to experience the shock of the moment in this episode having already watched The Sopranos over and over. There were a few moments on that show that already redefined television in terms of something similar to this.

This episode gave lifetime trauma to those who thought Ned stark was the main character 😂

He was though; even unto the end of the series his actions were central to everything that happened. He may not have been there in the flesh, but he was behind everything that happened nonetheless, kerk

Hold on a minute. I think you misunderstand Aemon's situation. Yes he chose to go to the wall, but he was already forced to be a maester (sent at the age of 9 to the citadel by his own father) and had already sworn vows to abandon his family name. He went to the wall because there were noblemen in Westeros who were plotting to use him to overthrow his little brother Aegon whom he loved (and who was by all accounts a great king). He took vows and honored over the course of a very long life.

Exactly. His duty was to be a maester. Choosing to go to The Wall was precisely to serve the realm, by distancing himself from any people plotting against his brother. He is a maester, not prophet. There was absolutely no way he could foresee that his brother’s grandson (in the show his brother’s son) Aerys would go insane and become the Mad King, and that it would all go to shit.

The joke among Sean Bean fans is that he dies in almost everything he does so we were taking bets on when he’d die in the series His death still came as a shock to those of us who hadn’t read the books

Robb and Jon are approximately the same age: 14 in the books and 17 in the show when the story starts. Its never explicitly spelled out who is canonically the elder brother because only a small number of people ever knew Jon's DoB (Ned being one of them). Based on contextual clues in the books the general sense is that Robb is older by a few months, but in a passage in an early draft of A Clash of Kings that was removed before the final version Jon tells Jorah Mormont that he's older than Robb "by a few turns of the moon" (i.e. also a few months). At any rate it's something that the fandom has debated for a long time.
@_adrian_sean3 күн бұрын
I think Robb is older. Cuz Cat got pregnant on her wedding night. And granted it would've taken Ned a few months to get home after burying his sister but I don't think it took him nine months

In the books Tysha didn’t only get silver coins, she also got a gold coin for the last guy she was raped by. Tywin forced Tyrion to go last, and a Lannister was worth more than a common soldier.

Great reaction to an epic episode! If neither of you have seen Cobra Kai, I'd love to see your reaction, either together on your respective channels. Such a great universe, the "Miyagi-verse", especially if you experienced the OG movies. 51:07 I just finished A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and loved it!

"Love is the death of duty". I think that sums up your summary of dumb ass choices.

You disappoint me with your attitude to Maester Aemon. He had already made his vows, and was asked to break those vows because trouble making power grabbers did not want his brother to be King. How is he a hypocrite and this is all his fault? You are very wrong for saying that. kerk
@Syntell2 күн бұрын
He should have never made those vows to begin with. He ran from his duty and responsibility.
