That's just one example. Piggybacking off of that, he refused to stand up for Gina Carano whom he worked with on the mandalorian. She got fired for saying something true that people took offense to. He sees no problem with wishing violent death on people, but he's fine with his coworker getting fired for saying something mild simply because he disagrees with her politically. The original four-season 80's TV series was about an ex-agent in New York city with a mysterious background who advertised that he could help people who were in a desperate situation; he would "equalize" the odds for them. So each episode he was helping someone new, against a new kind of threat. There were also episodes involving his agency past. And he had an ex-agent sidekick helping him and other people who he called in when he needed special skills. The current Queen Latifah series is similar except she has family members and two regular helpers, another ex-agent and a computer expert.

Classic TV series becoming films or film franchises and actually being successful is a rarity. One is Mission Impossible. The other would be The Equalizer. One individual to even up the odds for the innocent. Bringing the pain to the bad guys that deserve it. I loved the classic tv series (1985-1989) with the late Edward Woodward since childhood. To have this great actor/filmmaker collaboration make something like this is very rare. Denzel as McCall/co-producer and Antoine Fuqua directing didn't try to copy the show, beat for beat (except for the last shot). I saw it in the IMAX format and it became Denzel's highest grossing film ever. Part 2 is a must-watch, even more kick-a** and grossed more than the first. It was revamped into a new original series with Queen Latifah as Robyn McCall and one of the producers (3 seasons now). Part 3:The Final Chapter is out this summer and it's gonna be incredible.

Part 2 gives you a little more inside of Robert. Even though Robert was an expert in killing, he wasn't a killer at heart. His past required him to do things that never rested comfortable with his conscious. Part 2 was the first sequel Denzel ever agrees to do and that was because the chemistry between him and Antoine Fuqua. Antoine said in an interview the dinner scene with Teddy and the pray for rain line, he looked down at the script because he knew that wasn't written in. He's comfortable with Denzel adding on the fly just as he did in Training Day with his classic King Kong line. Denzel is comfortable that he has that free range and Antoine will deliver a great movie
