For Millennials who might not know, THE EMPIRE WILL STRIKE BACK is a reference to a Newsweek headline from 1982 during the Falklands War, which in turn was referencing Star Wars

Carver is such an awesome villain. I couldn't possibly imagine anyone else playing him other than Jonathan Pryce. Great casting choice. Easily one of my most favourite Bond villains. Michelle is probably my most favourite Bond girl too. And Tomorrow Never Dies as a whole is probably my most favourite Pierce Brosnan Bond film.

Tomorrow Never Dies was great and underrated Bond movie. Pierce Brosnan shines as always. Michelle Yeoh was great - maybe the strongest Bond Girl. She could kick Bond's ass too. Jonathan Pryce was great villain. Teri Hatcher should have had much more screen time. I also love K.D.Lang's theme song - really unique performance

I think it kinda makes sense that the movie used China and Hong Kong as the backdrop for the story (in the previous movie, Goldeneye, the backdrop was mainly [Soviet] Russia). When this movie hit the cinemas the world was quite focused on China. There was the Taiwan Straight Crisis in 1996, and 1997 was the year Hong Kong was returned to China. So there was indeed a degree of tension in that part of the Pacific.

Still is. China’s been tightening its grip on Hong Kong and the South China Sea. Funny enough, the British are finally sending someone to investigate the prison camps in Xinjiang province, and I wish it was James Bond...
