Honestly the thing I absolutely love the most about this is you used a base model, like I’m always dogged for having just a base but to see that it can be a beast is honestly satisfying

It’s a really great car. I have some headers that I’d like to put on at some point to broaden the power band a little but overall the power is sufficient for what the car weighs, and I think I have room to take out more weight and remain legal.

@williamkrusejr18462 жыл бұрын
The lock valve is only on the base model to my knowledge because of the duel mass flywheel which slows down the actuation of the clutch. How it works is it slows down the fluid thru the line. It is about in the middle of the line and looks about 3/8 diameter.
@collinryser2 жыл бұрын
This car used to be an automatic so all of the clutch lines are brand new and are Cooper S parts.
@williamkrusejr18462 жыл бұрын
If you are installing a solid flywheel like the Valeo kit the lock valve on the clutch line can be removed being a mechanic you probably know this already
@collinryser2 жыл бұрын
I’d like to say I do but I don’t know about any lock valve.

Awesome Video! I have an NM Engineering 22mm Sway Bar that I've been wanting to install on my R60. Are your rear endlinks stock or did you add adjustable endlinks?
@collinryser2 жыл бұрын
I haven’t changed the links yet, but once I get the suspension on I will probably need to get them so that I can corner balance the car properly. I have been thinking about that recently.

Hey, sir. Interesting a new sway bar on my mini right now and was watching your video. To get the brackets off the sway bar, after I remove the 4 14mm e torx bolts holding the subframe on, it still isn't loose enough to get to the top/ back bolt on the bracket. What did you do to pull it down to easily access it?
@JohnMcLauchlan2 жыл бұрын
Keep them coming! Really good content and nice to be able to follow along from the beginning of the project. If memory serves, the R50 comes with softer front and rear swag bars. So you’ve probably got a pretty healthy difference between the 25mm hollow and the stock R50 front unit. I’ve done a bunch of different setups, but haven’t tried the ones from Greene Performance yet. Hear good things and looking forward to your impressions.
@collinryser2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I looked into that too and evidently there was a time when the sway bars were both shared between the two, but this car happens to have the smaller 22.5mm front bar. I thought about sourcing a factory 24mm R53 front bar but Collin at Greene Performance suggested trying the smaller bar first. It’s pretty tail happy right now but the coilovers will be front biased so hopefully it should all work out.

Colin Green. I can't find his website/location. Can you please share? Which BC Racign Coils are those? I have an F56 - similar project objectives. Thank you!
@collinryser11 ай бұрын
Greene Performance is the name of his business. The coilovers are the BR series with Colin's custom camber/caster plates, custom valving for track use, and 10k/8k Swift springs.

I have thought about it and would love to. It will depend on whether my power to weight allows it for the class.

@@collinryser if you delete it and all the weight up high.. maybe you'd have to add ballast weight down low in the car. win win!

What view does your car insurance provider take of such a modification and is this reflected in your insurance premiums?

why wouldnt the Mini hatchback original spec the 25 mm sway bar - why does it come with the thinner 15 mm bar?
@collinryser Жыл бұрын
In general, cars are designed for mass markets to understeer for safety rather than oversteer. I will admit this car has gotten away from me a couple times with its current setup, this bar is pretty aggressive even at its middle setting.
@musguelha142 жыл бұрын
Wasn’t the car on lowering springs before the coilovers? Seems too low for stock.
@collinryser2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it came on Whiteline lowering springs when I bought it. I had never driven on them before but they are surprisingly comfortable.

I assume the larger diameter of has a negative affect on ride? thanks
@collinryser2 жыл бұрын
Most of the time, when navigating normal roads, the ride is seemingly unaffected by even the big bar I put in this car. The only time I would say I notice a difference in ride is at very low parking lot speeds over uneven bumps when the car will rock a little more forcefully as the rear goes over a speed bump for example. But to answer your question, no it doesn’t harm the ride on the road at all.

Hello i swap my engine and I put the old manual trans but the mini stay on neutral what you think?
@collinryser2 жыл бұрын
Hard to say, but I know that it is possible to put the clutch plate in backwards which will prevent the car from going into gear.
