Just wanted to mention that the reason you're short earned more money at first despite getting less views was because that was when your regular viewers got the notification or got it in their suggestions. When that happens, the short is played as a regular video so there's a chance of an ad coming, earning you money. The big boom you had in views afterward was not people clicking on to it, it was the video circulating in the Shorts algorithm. There is no chance for an ad there, so you don't earn money. I guess usually the reason youtubers make shorts anyways is in hopes that the higher views will lead to new subscribers/viewers.
