you could argue Ash's change in personality follows the trauma he experienced in ED1. It makes sense that he puts up an act to drive people away from him considering he's constantly being attacked by demons that posses people

In a weird roundabout way the rights issues with the OG trilogy proved beneficial from an artistic and storytelling perspective in the long run, opening the door to the interpretation that Ash's mind is so screwed up by the events of that fateful night that sometimes he remembers certain details differently, hence why in the prologues for both Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness it's just him and Linda going there, and why Linda is played by a different actress not just in those movies but in Ash vs. Evil Dead as well. At least that's how I see it.

Or the fact that Cheryl is Ash(ley)'s sister in the Ash vs. Evil Dead series. Which I found a nice twist in the tv-show (and was a nice reason to bring back the OG actress) but it is weird.

@@Tuning3434 What twist? The fact that they were siblings was already established in the first movie. "IT'S YOUR SISTER CHERYL!". That's what the Deadite who had possessed her was screaming when it lured Ash to the cellar door as he was comforting Linda after her own possession. I agree, though, it was nice seeing Ellen Sandweiss reprise the role in Season 2 of Ash vs. Evil Dead.

Also the fact that its demonically possessed trees makes it easier to accept than say just a traditional R-word scene or say one where a guy or gal possessed by a demon R-word a guy or gal, especially in the context of the possessed person being unable to consent! Still I'd say that the scene definitely holds up on the horror side of things)! Also the fact they can possess trees and body parts like Ash's hand, is a cool concept that most films fail to even consider! I mean plants are living things and why shouldn't a demon be able to possess a body part in addition to a person! Also they took advantage of the limitations that they had and made a decent horror film! Seriously that tree scene holds up on a technical level!"

6:21 As somebody who's seen the classic Trilogy for the first time very recently I feel like it was confirmed at least in the case of Evil Dead 1 and 2. The second film was a remake for the most part, the reason being is it was confirmed when they did the second film it was explained they did not have the rights for the first film at the time if I remember the lore correctly. However given between Evil Dead 2 and 3 weirdly having Ash enter Medieval Times slightly differently and being treated very differently is still..... an odd thing to me
