The Evil Within 2 Classic Mode Run with tips (without cutscenes)

This is a Classic Mode run done in The Evil Within 2 on Xbox One with some commentary. Hopefully this example can help you with attaining the You Asked For It... Again achievement! I have listed the time links for the 7 saves I use in the video below:
0:53 - Start
1:23:45 - Save 1 - After the gas room, before City Hall (end of Chapter 4)
2:08:03 - Save 2 - After dodging the light, just before the Stefano boss fight (halfway through Chapter 8)
2:37:01 - Save 3 - After completing the wheel puzzle but before the shootout with Torres (end of Chapter 9)
3:11:10 - Save 4 - After fighting with O'Neal but before having Torres blow up the Emitter (end of Chapter 11)
3:25:09 - Save 5 - After reaching the hotel (a mirror will appear when you tell Hoffman you are not yet ready for the fire escort near the end of Chapter 13)
3:44:39 - Save 6 - At the elevator just before the Theodore bosses (end of Chapter 14)
4:13:45 - Save 7 - In Sebastian's room before Myra (Chapter 16)

God I always do this in survival horror games, I try so hard to use resources extremely sparingly and punish my self by dying 1000 times just so I can kill a boss with minimal resources then I get to the final boss with over 500 gun powder and 170 herbs plus a fuck tonne of ammo.

Holy crap, I just made it. Your video was extremely helpful. Your strategies for sneaking out of the lab and the first section of the catacombs worked perfectly. In retrospective, I believe I wasted my first save in Ch.3, but I made up for it by saving before the ambush and then all the way until Ch.9. Turns out Stefano is a joke if you study his moves. Also, a tip for anyone that happens to read this and wants to try classic, don't use the projector. Sometimes the slides won't load and you will be stuck there, forcing you to reload. Fortunately there's no reason to use it, so be safe, stay away.

Thanks for this. You’d probably think me crazy but I am doing Classic with all Side Missions completed. Including the ghost. Am at Chapter 12 and got the Revolver and making my way to the Double Barrel. I’ve killed tons of enemies and bosses you could run from, and learned so much about the small tricks the game employs in Classic Mode. Putting here what I learned for others. - Any Zombie with a flaming bottle? Throw a bottle to gather multiple and fire a gas crossbow round. They drop it and ignite everyone. - Electric Rounds are good to stun single targets for Stomp or Close Range Shotgun (when water is not available), Explosive is good to stun and stomp 2 or even 3 targets at once if fast enough. - Flamethrower Priests take 3 backstabs. They are actually not hard to take out knowing this to obtain the Flamethrower. - On the fly crafting is VITAL, while bullet amounts are increased, they left health items at regular level. Meaning no added cost to make health items on the fly. - It is possible to get every weapon, Revolver and Double Barrel feel like they have an added edge in Classic. No way to know for sure. If anyone has questions, hit me up. My saves: 1. Chapter 3 Prep Run: Shotgun, Sniper Rifle, Crossbow, Keys, Pouches, and as much crap as I can hold obtained. 2. Chapter 7 Prep: Gathered as much as I could without triggering Sykes event. Saved just before that to save him and do the two paintings. 3. Before Stefano. 4. Before O’Neil and Final Ghost Encounter For Revolver. 5. Before Firewalk 6. Before Boss Rush 7. Before Final Boss I am currently at Save 5. But I pretty much have a clear path from here and should have Classic Mode beat by the weekend. Hope this helps. Once it’s done may put up stats, but yes I did do ALL Side Missions and Ghost Encounters.

Ah thanks, yeah I wanted a place to post my own observations for anyone else watching this video. The biggest take away from my play though was Empty Bottle + Flaming Bottle + Gas Round. Not only does it cause the zombies to drop the bottle but it stuns them in the flames, gathering multiple together with sound is invaluable.

Kreeper V Just got my Platinum! Thanks again. Doing the Side Missions while risky helps so much. Double Barrel one shots every Magma Man during the firewalk. Revolver allowed for fast reloading ranged damaged on Final Boss.

You can sneak attack and then use smoke bolts and he will lose his agro and then you can keep sneak attacking him. Rinse and repeat you don’t have to use any ammo just smoke bolts. You need like 8 tho

You only need 4 shock bolts and a smoke bolt. So the first thing you do is use a smoke bolt to blind him, and quickly run to the next room and hide behind a table that’s really close the window. Now you just gotta wait for him to come to the opposite side of the table and walk towards the freezer(he’ll never see you behind this table), shock him and run up to stab him. After this you run back around the room to get to this corner again and do it 3 more times. Be sure to pull down the lever every time you run back to the corner. This strategy is 100% safe and consistent, and to be considered when you’re low on resources.

You can skip the enemies that you encounter outside the warehouse by moving a yellow crate before hand, when you first get to the ware house. After that you hop on it then again on top of a container there will be a plank to the right that goes over the fence. no bullets used and no damage taken. 58:39

For 1:13:42 section here the best tip: You do Not need to spend any ammo killing any enemies. Do not kill any enemies. Go and trigger the wave. Then, climb up the ladder stand in the middle around 3-4 minutes until the wave is gone. This trick will help to save ammo. After the wave finishes move to the door for the next stage. I did this trick in survival mode. In addition, for O' Neal boss any hardest level would suggest to snick and stab him. If you do this trick you can kill him without using any ammo. Planning to start nightmare and then after beating doing classic mode.

Hey man I appreciate your walkthrough honestly it has helped me ace this! So on the second to final boss, the electric guy.. I was low on sniper ammo and all I had was electric bolts, handgun ammo and shotgun ammo. So I found a very easy way to defeat this guy without worrying about being hit. Around the house there are the two trees, use the tree that is closer to the downed telephone pole. This will block him from being able to run head on using his powerful moves, and this also exposes his weak spot within range of the sawed off shotgun. Watch his movement though the tree doesn’t absorb damage lol so his electric shock hit me once and almost killed me..his electric shock is easy to see and all you need to do is back away from the tree and once he is finished shocking the ground, it is safe to return. I learned this trick from darksouls 3 and bloodborne shark titans -___- The trick worked for me only taking one hit that was from my mistake not backing up. Thanks again man, I appreciated your advice and commentary with this walkthrough. #1 in my opinion.

I'm not quite sure if it's exactly what u meant, but at 10:30min u asked why would i watch this as my first experience of the game. Well, couple of reasons. Firstly, basic walkthrough videos are pretty boring, they usually play in slow motion, take their time with things and take time solving puzzles. I like to see quality gameplay, straight-to-the-point style. On top of showing the skill to play the game through its highest difficulty, your commentary is what truly shines. It's very calm, relaxing, good balance between not talking too much or too little, to the point of what needs to be done and you're still explaining most of the mechanics of the game and what is coming up ahead so i don't really feel confused as to what is/should be happening.

So far I'm flowing this guide to a tee, I just got to city hall and was my first save too after gallery and all that so far your guide is great, I didn't know about the ladder trick in the marrow so that girl with the knife freaked me out she's super fast on classic I had to juggle her on the ladder and craft shotgun bullets to kill her and I almost got killed by the creepy crawlers the fire missed them completely but luckily the stair trick worked! Congratulations, man. I respect you. I tried it and it was too much for me. I really enjoyed the game but I came to conclusion that classic mode is for speedrunners. It's like the invisible enemy in Resident Evil. You need to memorize the enemy locations and any events related to them. The 7 save thing ruins the experience for me. I'm going to pass this one.

You're getting a like and a subscribe just for the fact that you pointed out how you can "sprint towards the enemy when you're close, then do a stealth kill". I would have never attempted that on my own, and it helped a ton since I used stealth through the majority of the game. Your guide is good, and I actually followed it for advice through my Classic playthrough from start to finish. You do miss some easy to get Pouches and Keys, but I think this is good because it shows you don't really need them. I will point out that your strategy for getting through the spot at about 3:34:00 (where you say you should run through the gate, going down the middle) got me killed. Just like the Labs, you need to commit to it - if you wait too long, they start to path away, and it may not play out as well. Personally I think you just got kind of lucky there lol Also for anyone curious, although getting the Flamethrower is pretty easy (you have to learn the patterns of the Harbingers and stealth kill them, hit them while they're shooting flames, then leash them), it's not as helpful for the Chapter 14 boss. I think it reduces the number of times you have to light her on fire (via the switch) by 1, so you have to use the wheels and switch no matter what I think. I wasn't able to kill her with only the Flamethrower.

I dit it! I finally did it ! I found an extra stash of ammo at chapter 15 where my last save was. If you go down the steps there is a mobius chest behind a car to the left. Directly behind the stair you can blow up a barrel to find two more chests with handgun and shotgun ammo. When i arrived at myra boss i was quick out of ammo though. Took me 45 minutes to beat her. I thought i was screwed again, i only had two handgun bullets left, no health syringes and only one bar of health left. One more hit and i was dead. I concentrated hard, avoided the claw arm, two bullets in the head and bam! Cutscene. I was so happy.. and so lucky. But could not have made it without your guide, thanks! The way I did it with my amount of saves. I made the first save at the start of chapter 5 before entering city hall. I made save number 2 before the Stefano boss fight in chapter 8. I made save 3 at the end of chapter 9. I made save 4 after the O'Neil boss fight in chapter 11. I made save 5 at the start of chapter 14. save 6 was made before the boss battles at the end of chapter 14. save 7 was made before the myra boss in chapter 16. I made it through the game.

About my The Evil Within 2 (bug) doesn't have the final secret scene, I had the question answered on reddit. Read: - I have heard this issue from a few individuals. My theory is the whole installation of the game is corrupted and incomplete, perhaps due to the fact that you said your game lacks the latest patch. You may have to reinstall the whole game so the patch is installed as well. The latest patch for the game addresses some minor issues across all platforms such as crashes and does not add more content to the game itself. I hope this helps. Now about classic mode: your video is helping me a lot. Thank you.

Late comment but I'm 99% sure Myra will always cause spiderlings to spawn if you run out of ammo, so that you can crush them for bullets and gunpowder. Either way, I'll be using your guide as I jump into Classic Mode, so thanks in advance for the video.

When dealing with the concrete Lost enemies in stage 2(more specifically 4:02:00), just snipe them with the harpoon bolts. It works so much better because the harpoons can one-shot them in the head. Which means you're basically silently sniping them. Just make sure to take your time and focus your shots. Also, the bet spot for this is on top of the truck at the very back of the area. It is not the van you start behind, but the truck right behind it. You still want to stealth kill that first Lost as seen in this video, that way he won't spot you. After that, you can just snipe them from a distance, and NO, they cannot see you while you're on top of the truck. You will be beyond their field of vision. Do not use the sniper because it is not a guaranteed one-shot, and they are likely to walk to your location to investigate. Along with the possibility of them hearing you as well. Happy Hunting! :)

You can run away from the initial zombie at the door after the feeding scene. When she charges in, you just run around her and out the door. She won't follow you outside. Saves time and ammo. Tested this on Nightmare.

Great guide man. Really helped calm me down in some difficult save sections! Glad to get that out of the way. Still have to do Akuma on the first game. Any opinions on which is harder?

Always glad to know I helped somehow! I actually remember Akumu being a little more difficult but autosaves and upgrades make the game different so who knows for you- both were certainly fun :)
