The crowning jewel - no doubt whatsoever. It showed the grandeur the franchise could really be. Amazing immersive experiences that can legitimately build on the cannon story. Then they gave up on it, because it didn't sell as well as they hoped... It breaks my heart to play A:I because we may very well never have anything like it, ever again...

The only problem with it is it's way too damn long, and loaded with repetitive filler. They could have probably cut 3-5 hours off that game, and it would have been so much better off for it. Too bad. Everything else about it is amazing.

Oh man....I love that game! you can have like 5 marines and 13 Aliens just fighting each other. And 10 aliens and 1 predator just battle for the win. IT'S. AWESOME.

Aliens vs Predator 2 (2001) - still one of my favourite games of all time. the sound, the atmosphere were perfect for their time, and the plot is surprisingly complex and original and still holds up. and I should know, I play it again and again every couple of years.:)

+JahlisMan And marines didnt had Guard which was in AVP3 :/ not scary game anymore at all. In AVP2 you didnt want to alien get close to you, because they are attacking realy fast and you can't guard. While in AVP3 you just dont care, just smash them to the ground like a piece of trash.

+JahlisMan I fully agree. this was the Alien game i always hoped they made. I still have the cd rom for it hoping i can make it work somehow. The first time you enter the hive as a marine to save your friend and the aliens chase you out of there, as well as the final battle with the Queen, were some of the most intense moments in gaming i can remember. The predator mission was pretty cool as well.

ApolloXL5 Aliens online on gamestorm. One of the greatest. Also the 1990 konami aliens shooter was dope as shit. But you're right about alien 3. Was very good.

I've became attached to the Alien franchise since the original. While the first film strongly emphasized on suspense and horror. There's a reason why the latter films got the more action oriented treatment. The creatures were definitely scary but became uncanny.

Alien 3 is weaponless, it literally has no weapons. Although I agree aliens is good but not the best. Alien is not an action franchise and Alien 3 does not have to have weapons, by how they pulled it off it did not need any, it just wanted to return to the series' routes. I prefer it when Alien is more slow pased suspenseful horror. But calling him "not a alien fan" is stupid, you don't need a specific opinion to be a alien fan.

I thought that Aliens vs Predator (2010) was a great game, even though there wasn't much of a story-line in the Alien campaign the rest of the game was really fun. Even though the block/counter system makes no sense considering Marines can block Predator wrist blade attacks. I think that was just for multiplayer use and somehow made it into the campaign to add to difficulty. Also I love the stealth and brutal/trophy kills you can do in it as well! In my opinion it was a really good game. I actually have almost every achievement I only need 5 more.

6:11 Aliens V Predator on the Atari Jaguar. Absolutely awesome: A proper benchmark at the time. The Marine adventure was so atmospheric and the tension was incredible; especially at the beginning with only the shotgun (and Pulse rifle slightly later)

Alien Isolation is only good for people who loved the original movie. You're comparing an action oriented game to a suspense and horror one. But hell.....I even managed to get scared while playing the AvP games as the marine on online. The motion tracker makes it so much intense.

The marines campaign was the best - that long build-up with not a single alien but then you flip a switch.......the hissing starts and the dreaded red back-up power lights come on, Genuinely scary, great game!!

Aliens vs Predator 2 for PC is the best of the franchise. It's still worth playing on LAN. Aliens Trilogy for PSX is also a lot of fun.

The steam version of the 1999 AVP game says 2000 instead of 1999 because, in 2000 a "gold' version of the same game was released. not sure what is different but i heard you can manualy save in it. So, the steam version is a port of the 'gold' version of AVP. Just thought I'd clear that up.

AVP 2010 was pretty good by giving the humans certain combat capabilities. Didn't give the marines the cliche of being underpowered/futile like normal.

I had that first Alien game on the C64. In fact, I bought it. It came in a thin, plastic, clamshell package with just a single sheet of instructions. Even with that sheet, I could never figure out how to play it. Later I got the Activision Aliens, also called Aliens U.S. and I liked that much better. I even managed to finish it with all eight marines still alive. :) I never had the semi-FPS Aliens game back then. I've looked at it in more recent years and it seems like something I'd like, but because the camera is always positioned to the side of every area, it's hard for me to stay oriented. When you go through a door, the camera gets turned 90 degrees to show the new area from the side and that screws up my bearings.

1) AVP2 is far the best. Long, best story, scary, awseome weapons, hard but managable, and so on. 2) Alien Trilogy. Long and hard but had great atmosphere. 3) That C64 Aliens i played for a long time, though i don't think it could be beaten. Was scary as hell.

Alien: Isolation was a lot of fun. Aliens 2, or whatever the title for SNES was the first game that creeped me out. I had no idea a game could craft an atmosphere like that or invoke an emotional response until Metal Gear Solid showed me you can craft a great narrative in games and an 80s action film feel. Two particularly huge realizations that inspired me to become a very failed game dev... But taught me the skills to develop for some fortune 500 companies, so loss and win.

I was able to finish Alien vs. Predator for Snes back in the day, but it was a pain. I had to corner the last boss and keep doing jump kicks over and over, it was extremely annoying to do. I played AVP2 for PC, and I really liked the Alien introduction, by controlling the Face-Hugger and then controlling the xenomorph right after it bursts out and have to find shelter and food to undergo the final metamorphosis. Also, AVP for arcade(1994) is my favorite game in this list. I've spent more than 20 hours in it. Considering playing from start to finish would take about 1 hour, and I used to die halfway through the game, I must've spent nearly $200 in this arcade. Then emulators came out. ^^

I just downloaded it again on my PC after reminiscing about the fond memories I had playing it in my parents living room. Its still awesome. Graphics still hold up and there are two multi-player servers that are always full of people.

i had AVP on snes growing up. it got pretty hard at the end. the best way to kill the queen is by tapping L or R. you will do a slide kick. and its pretty effective
