I also really liked Drew Gooden's review of her poetry book. I have never really been interested in Gabbie, so I just knew people found it terrible without bothering to read it myself. Drew is the first person I have ever heard say something positive about it. Not that he found it a good book, but he does say that it isn't as bad as people make it out to be, that it's mostly very rushed and that she has potential to write something good, if only she'd actually try. Very refreshing to see someone take a stance more nuanced than "book bad, Gabbie suck", even if it still isn't overtly positive.

I kind of believe that that happens with youtubers with lots of subscribers. If you build a big audience for a while and after establishing them you start to get in scandal after scandal, your career won't be shattered, because you build a huge audience of loyal fans even tho you're not really a trending topic anymore. I think that we can put Trisha Paytas and Jeremiah Starfish as examples. Problematic people with a huge and loyal audience.

I have no name Nah, I think the problem is most people on the internet lack vital, and very basic, critical thinking skills. Like the fact that the internet functions on the presumption of being guilty until proven innocent, and believing what other people have to say about certain people rather than the source itself. The fact that Gabbie has continuously explained how erroneous certain accusations are, while other times have taken accountability for everything else, yet people like you still can’t seem to understand that you don’t actually know someone’s character from what you see online and you don’t actually know all, if any, of the facts, really exemplifies this. Maybe take a look at your own self awareness.

Rachel Oates’ latest video on Gabbie’s poetry made a really good point about that: it’s not art, it’s just merch. All these stans are making the excuse of “oh she only wrote the books for her fans and if you were a true fan you’d get her messages and hints and blah blah blah” and it’s just like, okay, if it’s only meant for fans of her it’s just merch. She should have just released it on her own personal website or through Etsy if it wasn’t meant for the greater public. I was never a stan of GH, but I did enjoy her storytimes. I would say I was a casual fan. The pivotal moment that turned me away from her was the Guy Tang situation, where she did a video of going to him for a hair cut and color. She did him so dirty by clickbaiting her video "Hair Cut Disaster!" with a thumbnail of a hood over her head. She had told Guy to his face that she liked the cut and color and that he did a good job. Then she got home and made a video that made him look bad. I couldn't believe it. Then when she started getting heat for it I thought, surely she'll change the title or thumbnail, or tell us he was in on it, or SOMETHING. Nope. Nothing. She didn't seem to give a shi*t that she did that to him. That was the first time I saw that sort of character pop through and it really soured me towards her. I also disliked that she blamed her reaction to his haircut on her anxiety. I can't stand it when people do that. Like, sure, trusting someone with your hair can be challenging for someone with anxiety. But anxiety didn't cause you to clickbait that Guy Tang's professional skills are lacking to the entire internet. And then act like it's not big deal. Nope, miss me with that sh*t.

It could be that, it could also be voice lessons are very expensive and depending how often she was going, it could really dig into her budget for other things. It could also be, while he helped, maybe they weren’t clicking as much as they needed to progress further in her vocal training. I speak from personal experience as a vocalist. Take from a studio vocalist - Gabbie’s voice is technically fine, and it’s admirable that she went and got a vocal coach to improve. But yeah... there’s no artistic spark in anything that Gabbie does. At best, she would be a fun karaoke partner. But given the sound of her voice, and literally just her terrible temperament, she will never cut it in the music industry. @@DarkAngel71180 The reason why we are taught not to believe everything we see on social media is because influencers/KZbinrs are exposing a very small part of their lives, so it is easy to put on your best self for that short amount of time and give people the impression that you are a perfect little snowflake of love and kindness. And yet, even though we see "short, edited snippets of her life" (during which she should be putting on her best self, like everyone would), Gabbie still manages to come off as self-centered, self-serving and manipulative. Even on those few minutes of exposure, that she knows people are gonna judge her by so one can only assume she is being careful, she is still exhibiting horrible character traits. That high note in "monster" isn't very high imo, unless she's not a soprano (i've never listened to her music so idk her range). It sounds more like she just hadn't warmed up and forced herself to reach it by overcompensating on the volume, thereby blowing out the mic. If you're singing right, a high note won't blow out the primary mic.

There are a lot of comments discussing how she isn’t a bad singer, but not a great singer, and the thing is that you don’t have to be a great singer to make it, honestly. I think it continues to come back to the fact that she, herself, has garnered such a negative reputation, her music is a bit too niche and feels more like musicals than something that could be a radio hit, and she doesn’t have the same marketing ability that she did when she had more positive traffic and friends to push the content.

The first time I ever heard of gabbie Is when Jessie smiles did her video “exposing” her and then I did a deep dive. My first impression was how incredibly unprofessional it was to DM a fan like that, and how she broke the very thin line between influencer and fan dynamics. Influencers/KZbinrs make their money off of building a pseudo relationship with their fans. Their fans trust them, believe them, and know a lot more details about their life than a typical celebrity. It’s a friendship, but there’s also a thin line and interesting power dynamic. Your viewers are NOT your friends and Gabbie took advantage of that with the girl she was messaging

While that is true, the fact that he unprompted did pay for the damage and the fact that she genuinely seemed to have been basically harassing him does matter. Honestly people would probably have been on her side if she had been honest about this. The discussion would probably have been more about how even if someone is harassing you you can’t just respond with a disproportionate amount of force. Hell Gabbie could well have said she didn’t realize how much she was bothering him and the discussion might have been about how not everyone can pick up on social cues and how communicating effectively to someone that they are bothering you is the way to deal with things. Because Ricegum was genuinely wrong. Unfortunately Gabbie ended up shooting herself in the foot in the way she went about telling the internet about the situation. She basically lied to make herself look better, when she didn’t have to. People don’t like that kind of thing, and it completely overshadowed the initial situation as a result.

Honestly, I feel really sorry for Gabbie. Ofc not excusing everything she's done, bc I don't think she's anywhere near innocent. But I think she has some genuine problems that she needs to address with some intensive therapy before she can have a stable online presence. Every time she has another controversy, it apparent how she hasn't worked out these issues. Her emotional outbursts, breakdowns, manipulative behavior, gaslighting people, lying, rollercoaster-ing between absolutely loving people and hating people, being unable to take criticism, always making herself out to be the victim, etc. Whatever the underlying cause is, I hope she gets the support and skills she needs to live a happy, healthy, fulfilling life.

It seems to me that the best first step she could take is to just get off the Internet. For.. a while. Trying to picture the world from her eyes, it seems like it must be an extremely scary, hurtful place. Ya...something about her personality always rubbed me the wrong way and as time went on and more "scandals" happened it pretty much just confirmed my feelings. She seems like the kind of person who doesn't have the emotional maturity to feel true empathy. It's like she can't get outside of her own feelings and understand what other people might feel like. Even in the cases where she was legitimately wronged she doesn't ever admit to her side of things. It's like she physically can only experience the world through her own emotions. I actually watched Gabbie during her "honestly" phase, and I generally liked her. But the more I watched her, the more I realized she had a tendency to blame her shitty behavior on trauma instead of dealing with that trauma and then whenever she was called out, she would deflect and lash out rather than taking accountability. I hate riegum and his backhanded reaction but lying about someone hurting you like that could have caused a bigger reaction. Gabbie has always been around, near or the center of drama. It always feels like she wants it but when it happens she plays the victim. I don't know her personally but from how her personality changes, the people she hung around and what those people have said it shows she might not be a great person..

It does sound like you’re trying to excuse the people who took the side of someone clearly in the wrong. Weather she got hit or not like she originally claimed doesn’t matter because he still got in her face and damaged her property. And I think because there was very little time in between what happened and when she made the video on it it makes sense that being shaky and mixing things a up a bit on the words. Even if she had waited then made that claim and acted like she didn’t do anything wrong though she still shouldn’t have gotten the backlash that she did because he was the one who attacked her physically. That’s not something you should do in general. I don’t like gabbie Hannah and I didn’t even know who she was when this happened but I remember being so upset that people were taking ricegums side.
@skelelizzi4 жыл бұрын
My main point was she lied about how bad it was. Multiple people at the party said that Ricegum was trying to get her phone, not punching or slapping her. Obviously, she was shaken/ taken back because he was a little forceful. Lying about being assaulted (As she made it out to be ) is so wrong. This incident wasn't the main point people have. It's that she lies about everything. This was just an example of how petty she could be. If it sounds like im taking Ricegums side/ the 'haters' side im not. I'm just making an opinion on the information given to me. Ricegums reaction was also petty. Him raising a hand and forcing her phone away and then breaking it was dumb. Especially over a stupid joke. Gabbie shouldn't have egged him on and then lied about being hit. Ricegum shouldn't have reacted so poorly.

@@lunarbunny8098 I'll preface that I dont who ricegum is or have actually seen his content but after watching the whole thing live, its pretty clear that the situation started off with her harassing him in the first place. Like after he refused for the 5th time, it might've been time to stop the joke, but she continued to take it way too far. If you look at the chain of events, the entire root of the issue is Gabby intentionally going over there to mess with him, not to say hi or chat. If she had gone over there just to greet him or asked him to play along with her video, none of this would've happened. She very clearly provoked him and now wants to play the victim, I mean that's entitled, immature behavior from anyone not just Gabby. Plus lying about him assaulting her makes her look like a trash human, he might've destroyed her property but he didnt hurt her. He also immediately sent her 2000 to compensate breaking her phone.
