I admire you, Dr. Dehlin, as a fellow psych nerd, and an ex-Mo, I applaud your stand and search for truth and "going after the one". My eyes bulged at the comment where he wasn't sure you were a sheep or a wolf. What a slap in the face. Bless you and your ministry!

Your a hero John Dehlin! Thank you for being an honest voice for so many who feel just as you. It's sad that we no longer feel welcome in the church we gave our heart and soul to. May any reading this know that it isn't your fault. The church chose to teach wrongly it's history . The leaders changed eternal doctrines that many based testimonies in. Yet the church continues to ignore it's role in being a major cause of so many not just leaving the church but leaving God altogether. "By their fruits ye shall know them". No apologies, just blame those who sought and found the truth that was successfully hidden or "sugar coated" for generations. God bless anyone in a faith crises. Keep your testimony in Christ.

I expressed something similar in a testimony meeting, about not knowing but believing. The next person got up and intensely expressed he KNOWS IT'S TRUE. I felt embarrassed and ashamed. And I caved. And from then on, until I left, I always said "know" just to avoid those feelings.

Saying that you know it's true isn't being intellectually honest. NOBODY can know it's true. They'd have to intensely investigate it's veracity. And as we've seen, church history and doctrine crumble under such scrutiny.

I feel the spirit when I hear John speak, the conviction in his voice, and the truth behind what he is saying. This is sad?? We do need more people like John in the church to absolutely question issues, create an open forum for all those having doubts. The leaders of the church are supressing our first amendment rights. We are suppose to learn and grow as a community. By suppressing our questions and concerns, holding them inside for all our lives is unhealthy. The fact that we can't even discuss these concerns publicly really hurts me. It's refreshing to hear someone talk about the same issues that I have been feeling and going through for years. It's sad to see that this Bishop seems like he believes what John is telling him, but is a puppet, and already had a pre determined motive. This interview reminds me of a bishop with little to no knowledge attempting to rebuke an apostle who knows a vast amount more about the gospel and its teachings. Anyone else getting these vibes??

John Dehlin questioned the LDS Church about their philosophy which caused this problem. But they could not answer John's questions about Mormonism, they just listen. John is sharp, knowledgeable about the LDS Church, and is not a bad person. What Bruce R. McConkie said was not just by him, it was the philosophy of the LDS Church at that time. The LDS hierarchical leaders read McConkie 1st edition of the book "Mormon Doctrine" which they discussed with Bruce R. McConkie. They then assigned Spencer W. Kimble to watch over what Bruce R. McConkie would continue to do with the next edition of "Mormon Doctrine". The philosophy concerning blacks not having the the LDS Priesthood did not change in his next editions of "Mormon Doctrine". Bruce R. McConkie repented just to stay in "good standing" with the LDS Church. Bruce R. McConkie didn't do anything wrong with his book "Mormon Doctrine".

There are many hard issues in the LDS's churches history. The attitude that we should turn a blind eye to those issues because they are not faith promoting is absurd. There has to be the realization that other organizations have and are using that kind of blind obedience to cause major issues in humanity's history. There are many contradictions in the logic. Investigate, but only using material the church approves. It seems there is a complete lack of integrity in the process. The process would not be respected in any other arena.
