She didn't know SW when I met her. And she liked the six episodes from Lucas. She even dressed herself as ObiWan in a convention in Paris ten years ago. I think in addition to what my fellow commenters are claiming about Star Wars, I am also inclined to believe that some of the shit writing is Kennedy's doing where she is trying to prove a point that no one cares about the OT characters so that they can solely (no pun intended) focus on the new diverse characters. The Force Awakens had flaws but it was an excellent nostalgia piece that setup some unique plot lines to explore. The Last Jedi completely threw out those plot-lines, the main story was a pointless and nonsensical "chase" sequence, the side story was completely pointless, and the most beloved character of the entire saga was destroyed. I tried to like it, I really did. It's Star Wars, I love Star Wars. I tried to rationalize the movie but the more I tried, the more I ended up realizing I was BSing myself. Kathleen Kennedy and Rian Johnson help do to Star Wars what the Death Star did to Alderaan.

There's a bit in "The Dark Knight Returns" that I always refer back to in situations like these: Batman (now in his 50s or something) tries to fight the mutant leader and gets beaten to a pulp. Later he says his mistake was trying to fight "like a young man". So he goes back and fights smarter, and wins. Leia is old, so she's not an action hero any more. Instead she's a commander. She was in the rebellion before Han or Luke, and she stuck with the cause after they both left. She can't necessarily fight in the same way that she used to, but she still fights. To me, that is the true testament to her character, and the reason why I find that line in TFA where one of her underlings refers back to her old title as "Princess" (a title not earned, but granted to her, and irrelevant ever since her planet got blown up 40 years ago) particularly disappointing.

I completely agree, they were under strict instructions to not go too far out of the safe zone because it was running parallel to ANH. So they had rules and boundaries to adhere to which was as important as the script/sets and delivery. The casting wasnt 'super celebs' just decent actors but ultimately it comes down to the director (which incidentally suprised me that solo flopped because Richy Cunningham is a great director) but if said director is being micro managed and squeezed of any creative notions then the film is surely screwed.

As an outsider, I can tell you that what I see is that the disney starwars has: Too many social issues jammed up that only applies to our world/country for that matter, and that defeated the purpose from a galaxy far far away, it comes out as awkward. People went to see those movies to explore new worlds and relax not to hear SJW and not for social commentary. They are treating star wars as a marvel universe and they are completely different. Social justice issues had ruined the fun of everything it touches. Like marvel's black panter. I thought it was ok but not the best movie ever made because it had black lives matter commentary. Also, they are pumping too many movies in short period and it is more about the money. it doesn't give fans to process and to keep waiting in anticipation. Solo would've been so much better if it weren't for that SJW droid. I loved everything else about the story and there were so many cool references that only a few star wars fans understand. The other characters were enjoyable, the acting was sufficient, and in my personal opinion, the new Han Solo actor did a good job and I was able to connect his character with Harrison Ford's version. But yeah, the last jedi sucked, the force awakens sucked, but the reason for their failures was the SJW movement. And Solo was a victim of that as well, unfortunately. But I still really like Solo because the SJW droid isn't even taken seriously by the other characters either. All the other characters roll their eyes at her the whole time. What made Solo good to me was the adventure, the story, and the references and cameos. Seeing Darth Maul in the end was fantastic. Seeing Corellia was amazing. Hearing about things like Teras Kasi was so cool and nostalgic. It was better than episodes 7 and 8, but not really as good as Rogue One in my opinion. So there's my 2 cents.

So far after hiring Walter Hamada to run DC Films and making other hires for their advertising and marketing departments, etc. it has been great. They have made great hires (Steven Spielberg, Matt Reeves, Ava Duvernay - hopefully Wrinkle In Time was more Disney’s fault then hers - Ben Affleck might be staying on as Batman due to the changes, The Flash movie won’t be Flashpoint anymore but an actual solo Flash film which is what most fans wanted his first feature film to be was more about Flash than trying to throw all the characters in his first film, etc.). I love that DC and WB have just put their head down, accepted their mistakes and are going to try their best to please the fans. While Lucasfilm blames their own fans along with whoever and whatever they can blame at the moment and take no responsibility and double down on their mistakes. I would boycott DC (which again I love Batman and all the DC characters and stories so much.. they are my favorite fictional characters and stories) if they treated their fans and me the same way Lucasfilm and Kathleen Kennedy are treating their fans. Star wars had always important and great black characters such as Mace Windu or Lando Calrissian or other coloured actors like Kitster Banai the childhood friend of Anakin. And SW had always strong women characters such as Leia, Padme, Shmi, Ahsoka Tano, Satine Kryze. All these characters were well written instead of the sequel characters.

Hello 2018, listen. Nobody actually cares whether the lead is male or female as long as the story is good. If they don't want films to flop, stop making spin offs or reboots of successful franchises that audiences already have an emotional attachment to. The whole plot line of Star Wars was about the tragedy of Darth Vader and seeing the light an the end of the tunnel. Kylo Ren makes sense seeing as he's Vader's grandson. I was expecting Rey to be Luke's long lost abandoned daughter, not some desert junkie with no important background. The only reason Luke was naturally gifted was because his father was the f*cking chosen one... Star Wars actually depresses me. Every question we had after seeing the Force Awakens either hasn't been answered, or has been met with a "that's not important" twist. Who is Snoke? Doesnt matter... Who is Rey? F*cking nobody... What happened to Luke? He's a shell of the man he once was... WTF happened with Leia!?Even Vader couldn't force fly in f*cking space... The Finn + Phasma arc was a neat idea, but ended abruptly and had massive plot armour to get it to it's lackluster "finale" - if I can call it that... Rose is a damn hypocrite and possibly the most poorly written character I have seen this century... I get what Disney are trying to do with their "anyone can be important!" game. As a concept, I even admire it. "Be what you want to be", make kids and adults alike aspire to sh*t. That's fine, but write an original story to go with your original idea, don't drag a franchise that's built off one concept and curveball it into another - that's horsesh*t. Even if Rey is a nobody, it's obvious she's special 'cos she's already better than Luke and Kylo Ren - or they're just sh*tting on everything the first 6 films were built on. I'm done with this cr*p.

This is how I see it now lol; A trilogy is meant to have an overall story arc, not be like a relay race where the first guy tries to take it safe, completes his bit but doesn't go flat out and produces an uninspiring performance. He passes it to the next guy and this clown just runs off the track straight to the toilet, chucks the baton down the bog and takes a shit on it. The third guy gets sent off the track by the coach for not being happy abt what his team has done. So the first guy has to replace him, who has to now fish out the baton from the bog and do his best with it. Meanwhile, the coach is congratulating the second guy and telling him he'll get more big races in the future. I mean just wtf is going on here haha

And, when you consider that Solo was a decent space heist movie, the reason it failed was to send a message, not to reject this movie. Solution for you, Kennedy: pretend that the profits from TLJ came from Solo, and further pretend that TLJ utterly flopped due to boycotts. Elastigirl being the lead in Incredibles 2 isn't a feminist thing like that Scott idiot claims. Every Pixar sequel has the 2nd main character from the 1st film become the lead. Toy Story revolved around Buzz, but Toy Story 2 around Woody, Cars revolved around Lightning McQueen, but Cars 2 revolved around Mater, Monsters Inc. - Sulley, but Monsters University - Mike, Finding Nemo - Marlin, but Finding Dory - Dory and now The Incredibles - Mr Incredible, Incredibles 2 - Elastigirl. It's their way of ensuring the sequel is something new and not just a repeat of the first film, which I think is really admirable.

Rian Johnson literally turn Star Wars into a joke of a movie. Turning some of those interesting new characters and old characters into trash. The cliff hanger in Force Awaken which fans waited for 2 years suddenly turn into comedy when Rey gave Luke Skywalker's dad lightsaber but only for him to throw away?? Captain Phasma supposed to be a battle hardened experience soldier but get whooped by inexperienced Finn TWICE in two movies!!! New character Rose turned out to be useless and annoying through out the movie. Rey's mystery parents turned out to be just lame useless nobodies. Leia blow out into space, only for her to use force to pull herself inside?? Mystery and all powerful Snoke ended up slice in half and dead just like that. A giant cruiser using hyperspeed to ram into First Order's flagship and took out multiple Star Destroyers together??? If that is possible, then the Alliance and Rebels should have done that long ago using their cruisers to ram into 2 death stars. Making fan's favourite Luke Skywalker more of a weak character and ended up dead too. This is what happened when retarded Kathleen Kennedy gave Rian Johnson with full creative control over the movie. To think the old prequel series was bad, The Last Jedi takes the cake!
