When i heard that Star Wars was bought by Disney. I said that George Lucas and Stan Lee are Benedict Arnold's. They sold their companies to a company that JRR Tolkien and C.S Lewis hated. And when they did the force awakens. The action was good but the script was weak,then I saw Rouge One same thing cheap weak script. Then the Last Jedi. It was awful. A few months ago i saw. Space Battleship Yamato Ad2199. And it was a remake of the original series.But much more detailed too. And i thought why Lucas sell his series. To Disney?????????? Why did he sell it to Warner Brothers????? And get the Terminator Salvation director to direct the Star Wars series? Along with Peter Jackson too. Now the Fox Deal is in trouble because Universal put in the bid for Fox much higher than Disney.

The best part of the prequels for me was how Palpatine was able to completely undermine the Republic by being a politician and using the Republics own laws against it. It's a theme that anyone can relate to at any point in history. Plus Lucas was able to do it without beating you over the head with the idea.

@@makani9004 What´s with all this Plinkett parotting? Don´t you have an opinion for yourself? Besides, yeah I loved many of those quiet scenes. They are exactly what the new Disney films are lacking. It gives the movies room to breathe, and the audience gets time to really feel the wonder and magic of this amazing universe. As for green screen, the prequels had a wonderful blend of CG and practical effects, while the new films are almost entirely CGI :(

@@fundhund62 Yeah, and they are both bad, the new ones much moreso. If you're going to disallow any criticisms from the authoritive prequel critique, I don't know why you'd bother asking. The prequels had poorly written characters with boring, one dimensional motivation, that giving "more room to breath" just made worse. For a positive example, look to Empire. The entire movie is characters we like interacting realistically with other likeable characters.

The only way this gets fixed is to leave the franchise alone for a while and then reboot it from a little bit after Return of the Jedi. Not fearing Kylo Ren (reference at 1:30) is my problem. And it's him taking off his helmet...the moment that came off I was like Oh he's just a snotty Kid. Vadar was intimidating partly because he always wore the helmet...only got a glimpse early on and the admiral/commander was just as curious but he diverted his eyes. Then when Luke helped him take off his mask , I felt pity for him. Kylo on the other hand would be just as Scary if he didn't listen to Snoke and wore the mask.

What actually IS a "strong woman" in a movie? Does that have to be defined by "shooting guns and killing people"? Not in my books. There is a brilliant BBC mini-series of Pride&Prejudice from 1995 and it has one of the best "fight scenes" ever in it between two (head)strong women who simply argue with words for almost 10 minutes. The dialogue is taken straight from the book! The same iconic scene happens in the Pride& Prejudice movie from 2005 with Keira Knightley, but in that movie it gets ruined due to the fact the two actresses have to absolutely RUSH through their dialogue in half the time compared to the mini-series. A far worse performance ... not only because Keira Knightley cant act anything other than a spoiled modern girl. There are lots of "strong women" in movies ... they simply arent "doing the manly stuff" which feminists think is the only way to be strong.

I've been to every Star Wars movie opening night except A New Hope saw that in 1978. I was 7 I knew something was very wrong as TLJ ended when nobody was saying anything we were all just basically stunned silent. Never experienced anything like that before.

Muck006 Troi was driving both times. In Generations they were knocked out of orbit from the drive section exploding. In Nemesis, Picard gave her an order to do it hoping it would cripple the warbird because their weapons and shields were boarderline useless. In DS9. Jadzia always drove the Defiant and did really good. Janeway also has been known to be aggressive driving Voyager a time or two. The two times Troi was piloting were special circumstances.

Great video guys, I love how all these people can come together to both celebrate and criticize what is seen as a problem with what was once a amazing franchise. George Lucas’s Star Wars > Disney’s/Kathleen Kennedy’s Star Wars. I’ve said before that I love the prequels as much as the original trilogy. I still do. No matter how one feels about the prequels or if they weren’t what anyone expected, they expanded the series without ruining the story of the original characters. Lucas cared for Star Wars. He put his heart and soul into the films and got those to be around him that he thought would assist him to make the best films that could be made with the Star Wars films he had a hand in making. With Kennedy and co. they just care about money. Story and characters don’t matter to the writers and directors, at least regarding the episode films. Unfortunately, Kennedy was put in charge of the company because she was friends with Lucas for many years and she was his best friends assistant, but like said here, she wasn’t good at her job. Not sure if Lucas was really aware of this, but by the time he sold the franchise he probably was ready to be done with the franchise. I can understand with people saying how terrible of a person he is for the prequels and many other things. Just wish that he put someone who cared about Star Wars in charge, and could continue the legacy he created instead of tearing down the great name Star Wars once had.

To be fair to Jeremy Jahns, in his first review of TLJ he didn't give it a score. He said in that video that he had to watch it again because the movie he saw conflicted with the reactions of his former Collider buddies who said they loved it. In his second review, he kinda panned it. He wasn't overly critical of TLJ, but he was clear that he didn't like it. Campea, however...I can't even. I was in one of his live chats right after TLJ was released nationally, and he answered people who paid to ask him a questions via superchat by saying...in a live broadcast...that TLJ "has no plot holes" repeatedly! Pair that with his close personal relationship with Mark Hamill's son (which is probably how he actually gets into these premiers) and I was done watching him from that point then on. Seeing him now saying that KK needs to step down or be replaced at Lucasfilm comes across as nothing more than him gauging the box office returns, taking note of the spike in the number of people who have called him out as a shill, watching his subscriber numbers take a hit, and deciding to do some pre-emptive damage control. Watching that video of his, he appeared to be in physical pain when calling for KK to get the boot. But considering his close ties with Lucasfilm (I've heard Campea is actually on the Blueray too; I refuse to watch it), I wouldn't be surprised if she has already been fired, he got the head's up, and he put out that video to appease the fans so when the announcement hits, he can save face as being the "good Star Wars fan" by calling for the "right thing" to be done.

When I was in High School, the Mortal Kombat movie came out and me the (Real) Star Wars loving geek that I still am changed the MK character names to the ESB bounty hunters, and "Mortal Kombat" to "Nar Shadda." In the EU, in Tales of the Jedi: Dark Lords of the Sith #3 (Early 1990's) the narration states that there was a Great Droid Rebellion sometime before. Tales of the Jedi takes place 4000 Before the Battle of Yavin. The Droid Rights shit is pointless since it was established in the EU. And this also proves that Kennedy and her Circle of No-talent yes person shill hacks dont know anything about Star Wars other than it has droids, spaceships, shiny light swords, magic that should only be used by females but most important generalization is that Star Wars fans are DUMB and will spend $$$$ on any junk we have that has "Star Wars" on it.

How could star wars fall so far as marvel keeps soaring? Its depressing. I grew up LOVING the original trilogy and liking the prequels as well. I remember my first theater experience was with revenge of the sith in 2005 and I was blown away with emotion. None of the new movies have left me with anything other than disappointment or anger. With the low box office of solo I hope some serious changes happen but I wont get my hopes up too high.

Star Trek did strong women right. Case & Point: Voyager Voyager generally is loved by Star Trek fans. Janeway was awesome and far more ruthless then most Starfleet Captians. However unlike Star Wars and Rey, you got to know Janeway over the 7 years stuck in the Delta Quadrant & she didn’t purposely outshine the male characters on her staff. Tuvok, Paris, Kim, Chakotay all had their bad ass moments. The only two sort of idiots on the crew were the Doctor & Neelix but you need comic relief from dodging Borg drones for two hours. The other female leads had time to shine as well instead of the Rose Tico treatment. It can been done, Hell it already was done. Lucasfilm just failed.

And Janeway is NOT PERFECT. There are times she made questionable decisions and despite herself, let her emotions and feelings affect her judgment and she have come into conflict with her crew (understandable given their circumstances of being stranded) many times over. And don't forget Seven of Nine...superficially, she is the obvious ploy used by the producers to attract male viewers with T&A, but her character made us question our assumptions and stereotypes because once you look beyond her sex appeal, there is an actual character with a compelling story arc. As for idiots, you can add Ensign Kim to the list.

Entertainment Hacker Thanks. The Force Awakens was "the quest for Skywalker" (everyone in the movie wants to get to him first). Mark Hamill/Luke's face was also 1/3 of The Last Jedi's poster, so it wasn't our imagination playing tricks when it said "The Last Jedi" under Mark's face. The preview teasers were Luke heavy and looked really cool. So, we were sold Luke/Han/Chewie/Leia but as we know now, we only to found them playing second feeble to some very average/non-epic strangers; but as Mark Hamill stated after filming TLJ, he had to come to term with the fact that Luke wasn't meant to be the star of the movies about his character (Jake Skywalker!). He too was baited & switched with the The Force Awakens script, and worse so on The Last Jedi's. At least he got paid, we just got tricked. There is a now infamous video of Mark explaining that his character was no longer relevant to the story and Kathleen Kennedy interrupts to say that Luke was pivotal to the story. This was of course a complete lie as Luke spends most of TLJ refusing to become the protagonist of his own movie, only to fail being the extraordinary being he is supposed to be (and the one we all paid $14.99 to see); but this reaction from KK was a clear sign that she knew where the appeal was coming from, yet allowed Rian Johnson to desecrate the Star Wars' institutions entrusted to him. This being said, I think a lot of the failures of The Last Jedi would have been forgiven if there had been an epic light saber showdown at the end of the flick. Setting one up, only to deliver a failed battle leading to the hero dying on what was a force-teleworking exercise was just super sad and upsetting (didn't Snoke essentially do that five times for Kylo & Rey and not die?). I surely was expecting some saber action at the level displayed by Vader at the end of Rogue One ... denied!

After TFA, my only hope for the ST was Han fell into a chute a la Luke in ESB and that Phasma saw him and took him hostage as leverage against the Resistance in The Last Jedi. I knew it was a hopeless hope but, as it turns out, it was the only way to make TLJ a watchable movie. And then Luke could save him again. If anyone thinks that would have been lame, I present to you TLJ as Johnson made it.

Merchandising has always been a huge part of the Star Wars franchise and George Lucas understood that. That is why the Prequels we're so dense and visually distinct. The toy selling potential was huge. As a kid Podracing was the coolest thing ever and people played the game and wanted the toys. Kids we're swinging their double bladed light sabers. I thought the Battle Droids were the coolest thing ever and kept buying B1s for my army and a friend of mine conversely with the Clones. You had a cast of Jedi Knights to collect. There was so much their to grab people's attention. With the new trilogy it just looks boring and the fact it rips of the style of the original doesn't help. Nothing is that eye popping, or interesting, or something a kid would want as a toy. The Original Trilogy and the Prequel Trilogy were visually constructed to sell toys and the Sequels seem to fail in this department.

I watched those when I was youngish ... and even then it was obvious they were made very very cheap (everything looking like plastic).
