@@adamf.barbieri8788 I felt disgusted by John because he stained *the* shield, Steve's shield and legacy, with the blood of a man who surrendered, in a public square while the world was watching. If say, the Punisher did that it would be no biggie but doing that as Captain America is very much a big deal. Because it broke a symbol that was as close to being pure as a man can be. When Sam takes up the shield, he is going to have to literally and figuratively wash the blood off of the shield. It's not about the killing per se since Steve has his own body count, Thor even much more so, yet they were both worthy of Mjölnir. It was about the how and the why the killing took place that's the problem with John's actions.

*SPOILER ALERT* WTF moments. 1. Zemo's reaction when Bucky switched on him (absolute terror) 2. Sebastian Stan's emotional acting in the beginning. 3. Ayo removing Buckys Vibranium arm (The Dora Miljae have jurisdiction wherever the Dora Miljae finds themselves to be...BOSS!!) 4. Sharon entering a heavily guarded zone with access to satellites (working for powerbroker, but she has betrayed him so let's see what happens there) 5. Walker taking the Serum 6. Lemar Hoskins (Battlestar) dying like that 7. Walker rage killing the Flag-Smasher in cold blood 8. Captain America's shield covered in blood (The disrespect of it all.)

In civil war, he wanted the avengers to fall apart and he did it. Now, he wanted the serums and the person who did the serums gone. He killed the doctor and destroyed the serums. He never gives up on his mission. We also still got some details like his son liking turkish delight a lot so he always has some with him. Although I don’t want John Walker to be Captain America I realize how sad it is that after his convo with Lemar ultimately he took the serum thinking he would save lives this time instead of watching people die like in Afghanistan. I’m sure these type of regrets plague many vets. John’s mistakes are highlighting why Sam will become a better Captain America but this story telling is really good. Thanks for the reaction! Also had to mention that Vanessa’s hair is so lovely! Especially her ends (so shiny and healthy looking). 👏🏾

The difference between John and Steve is that one of them was chosen because he was a good man who knew what to do, while one of them was chosen for propaganda and war. Steve knows when to stop, he can hold his rage and see what's the best thing to do. He recognizes that the serum didn't make him strong, his willpower and decision making make him strong. Then there's John. He let's his emotions control him. He thinks that to be strong, he needs the serum. In the end, John isn't a villain, he just isn't Captain America

Sam and Bucky have a good cause but are working with criminals("Sharon" and Zemo) to get it done Karli and the flag smashers have a good cause but are committing acts of terror to work to it John Walker just wants to complete his mission but he's way too aggressive and willing to brutally kill to get his work done. Amazing work by the director/writers

11:27 I honestly don't blame US Agent for what he did. If anything I just feel sad for him. Lemar wasn't just his best friend and advisor, he was his moral compass. Lemar was a person that supported John and kept him in check. Now John is alone with no friend to advise him or allies that are willing to keep him on the right path. That's why I feel bad for him, because his rage, confusion, and grief consumed him the moment his best friend died.

That opening sequence with Bucky Barnes struggling to resist was beautifully captured. Even the moments with Captain America/John Walker as to how he tainted the symbol of what Captain America means was a huge turning point for his transition to becoming the ruthless U.S. Agent. In Civil War Steve Rogers knew how to keep his emotions in check by not killing Tony Stark no matter how bad Bucky Barnes was hurt.

Who are the "good guys". Did John Walker do what he HAD to do? He did what was in him to do. Poor guy. He idolized Captain America, then was killed by him. The ends doesn't justify the means. I think that's what this episode is ab. Bucky let Zemo out for his own ends, but betrayed ppl who freed him. John Walker took the serum to be a "better" soldier, then became a murderer. Only Sam hasn't compromised his values.

I like that you guys are considering the nuances of John Walker's characterization instead of just labeling him as evil. To me, it seems like he's dealing with some pretty severe PTSD, just like Bucky. And the beginning and ending of this episode were like mirror images -- Bucky finally getting back control of his mind (Seb Stan is amazing!) vs Walker totally unraveling. Also, I NEED Ayo and Bucky to make up. He got downgraded to "James" from "White Wolf" and they both seemed so hurt and disappointed with each other. :(

Robert's "[Walker] isn't a tweaker" is such an apt description of Walker's current state of mind. An already Aggro mindset and wild swings to unpredictable madness. He may be a reasonable person deep down but when that blue go go juice is pumping through his veins - his humanity slowly fades from his eyes and his primal instincts take over. I hate the character for being the polar opposite of what Erskine wanted Cap to be - a "perfect soilder" instead of "a good man" but I respect Wyatt Russell's portrayal.

TFatWS - S1:E4 Initial thoughts after watching the episode and then watching your reaction. I love the way that the two of you speak and discect the episode. Thank you for all that you do. I hope that you get to your goal, soon. Absolute power, corrupts absolutely. The balance between being a hero and a tyrant is like a knife's edge. Dr. Erskine kept pointing at Steve Roger's heart. He knew that he was good in the heart. For the most part, Steve's guiding principles helped him navigate this tricky maze of how to do the right thing, especially when you have the power to force your own will on the matter. We open the episode with a great flashback with Bucky and Ayo in Wakanda...as she is removing the power that the trigger words had on Bucky. It was great to see Sebastian Stan showing great range in this scene. Makes his character and arc so interesting. Then, the overhead with Bucky on the black side (with white line) in the cobblestones, as Ayo is on the white side (with the black line) in the cobblestones. Does this represent that Bucky is in the wrong, here and Ayo is in the right? Good question. Love the levity with Sam talking about his TT (his aunt). You can tell that this episode is going to deal with tough issues, by laying the groundwork with some levity. Also, in this episode you see the purity of Sam's heart. Zemo is like the Pied Piper. He uses his speech to lull people to do his bidding. With the children, he sweetens the pot by using Turkish Delight (like the White Witch in Narnia). Turkish Delights ARE addictive. You just can't eat one. Such a gangster move to tell the little girl that "those men are bad", while whispering in her ear and giving her treats, gaining her affection. Creapy move. He gains leverage by knowing information that Bucky and Sam could not get. Zemo isn't wrong in his beliefs...for most people, but there are exceptions to the rule. Steve Rogers was THAT exception. In line with that, Bucky and Sam are inheritors of that fight for what is right (using the heart). Love Sam saying about the "stupid head tilt thing" and then Zemo straightens his head. Hilarious move. I trust Lamar Hoskins (Battlestar...still hate that name) more than I do John Walker. I don't know why. Still feel Sharon Carter is playing a larger part within this world. Within the episode they keep giving us clues that the Power Broker is a male. The using of the voice of the Aussie man when reading the text message. Referring to him as a him. Sam getting to talk to Karli and get to know her motivations. This interaction is so good. It is interesting that I WANT Karli to turn out good, while I have NO interest to see Fake Cap turn out good. They are or becoming very similar. At least, this is what the writers and director are trying to show us. They are both bent on their own agenda, and seem not to be pushed off their beliefs. Though, in both cases Sam is trying his hardest to shine the light on this situation. Bring perspective. I understand Karli and her desire to fight for the underprivileged, but it will go your way, as long as you are a good person and do not deviate from that path. Blowing up that building with all those people in it (thee dead, # injured). You can NEVER recover from that in some people's eyes. Look at the effects it is having on Bucky, and he wasn't even able to avoid it. He has to live with himself. Seeing the interactions with Ayo and the Dora Melage was great. Worried about what Zemo will do now, now that he is footloose and fancy free. That, too, is going to fall on the backs of Sam and Bucky (unfortunately). For everyone that he hurts, goes on their ledger too. Bucky's first, then Sam's. When Ayo so easily detaches Bucky's arm, what a power move, but also a move that shows Bucky that he isn't perfect. A checks and balances to power. Always have someone there to make you check up and reevaluate the situation, BEFORE you do something stupid. Review overlap... It was good to see Bucky humbled by Ayo, with the swift removing of his arm. Again, power to do anything that you want...without consequences is very aluring. Checks and balances are there to stop us from overstepping our places. So, Fake Cap in the meantime takes the SSS. That will not go well. If it amplifies "who you are", then his rage is going to ruin him. I like how Bucky takes out that one super soldier flagsmasher, then says to him, "Stay there!" It shows that he knows how to moderate his aggression. It doesn't "own" him. I hope that Lamar Hoskins isn't dead. That would be a bummer. I truly feel he was a good man, but jumped up by the mission. BUT, Fake Cap thinking that he was dead...lead him to murder that Flagsmasher super soldier, as he was crying out, "It wasn't me!". That is NOT right, plus...now it will go viral (hence the title of this episode). Seeing Fake Cap, standing over the slain "freedom fighter" with blood dripping from the bottom of his shield. He is tainting the sheild. He was and is unworthy for the task. I was told early in life, if you desire power, you do not deserve power. It is so often the reluctant to accept power, that hold it in reverence and dispense with the justice that that power affords in the most equitable way. I believe that Sam is THAT man. He will rehabilitate that sheild by weilding it in reverence and care. This is the meat of the season...and it has gotten really dark. I really wonder how the next two episode wrap this story up. The penultimate episode usually has a uptick...I really can't see it as being better than this one...please, prove me wrong. Okay...these are my thoughts after the second watch. I will add to it...as I watch other reactors. Thanks.
