You hit the nail on the head when you said that this movie is suppose to be a love letter to stuntmen but it's really an afterthought when the credits roll. Even as a romantic comedy they could have had a scene showing how it is to sacrifice so much for a movie and not get any of the credit.

It also doesn't help that Ryan Gosling's character is super human, and the fight sequences are over the top.

I agree with every single word you said in the review. It probably sounded good on paper but completely lost on screen. I didn’t even understood the tone of movie. In the end, when Aaron’s character is blown and the remark was passed by Lee ‘Actors’. I felt same actors will say after watching this movie ‘Stunt Man’. It was exhausting!

I dunno, sometimes a movie is just meant to be fluffy and fun, which I thought this was. This reminds me of one of those breezy 70s Burt Reynolds’s movies. It’s not deep. But I did enjoy the split screen scene, some of the stunts, and the overall love story arc.

I found this one to be as expected. If you like Gosling and Leitch, their personalities are dripping from the screen. Yes it was dumb at times, and yes it was probably too expensive for what it ended up being - but it was fun and stylish. Now to retire to my cave for 5 months to avoid the train of sequels…

I already have a very low bar for "movies about movies", and this one just barely passes it by being somewhat amusing and "sparkly" as you described. The film is good for a casual Friday night viewing or on the seat-back TV on a flight. I personally enjoyed the one-off, self-referential movie jokes-even the painfully on-the-nose ones; I laughed out loud at the "Memento" joke-and Gosling/Blunt are charismatic. enough on screen. But I also agree with all your criticisms. The plot and the humor fall apart very quickly under any scrutiny.

I haven’t seen the movie yet, but it strikes me that it has to recur to a crime subplot, as all movies today, while the series premise is about a stuntmen who work as bounty hunters, which is way more exciting than a random event.

I wasn't feeling well, so I wound-up having to leave the movie after about an hour (about just when Gosling was going to look for the Star at his apartment). I'm glad to know that it didn't get much better. It was "fine" for the parts that I did watch, but I already felt that I was given a different movie than I was sold in the trailers. In the movie, there's really no indication that they aren't 100% head over heels in love with each other. Rather than it seeming like he was awol for months, it felt more like he ghosted her for one weekend. And the scene where she makes him do the stunt over and over, venting her frustrations in front of the whole crew, takes away any stakes that were built-up with the producer claiming that everything has to go 'right' or Blunt is going to lose her 'one shot' at directing.

You gave the review of this movie that I suspected from the trailer. Two of my favorite actors - Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling - wasted in a mishmash romcom. Far better to have cast Sandra Bullock and Colin Farrell, at least then I would have not come close to being tempted to see it. Especially dumb for Ryan Gosling to have done this coming off of his parody of dating in Barbie.

"I really could something else with my time right now" that has been recurring feeling lately when I have watched big budget Hollywood movies. Even Dune 2 and Civil War felt in that category. The lack of risk, creativity and imagination. Everything is super safe. It feels like the first priority in these movies is to yield high return of investment ratio than make a creative piece. What a pity.

Hey there! I stumbled upon your video in my subscriptions tab and realized I've been subbed for years without actually watching any of your content. So, I thought I'd drop by with a suggestion that might help with your video marketing. Initially, I noticed that while your video titles and reviews are quite literal in describing the content, they don't really give me a reason to want to know what you have to say. Unless it's a favorite movie of mine, I wouldn't be curious enough to click. So, I was thinking if the title included a statement of opinion that's intriguing. Like if you truly have a positive or negative opinion or something interesting you say in the video, incorporating that into the title could be compelling. For example, "Is Fall Guy Complete Trash?" or "Fall Guy Is Absolutely Brilliant." I know it might sound a bit clickbaity, but if I have to be honest, the current method just isn't quite cutting it and you could do it in a way that feels honest to you. I'm not sure if you're aiming for views or if your channel is solely a catalog of your reviews, but if views matter to you, it all starts with the title and thumbnail, both of which are currently quite weak! I hope you find this useful, or if not, I hope you don't take it as negative but rather see the positive motivation behind it.

I was a big fan of the TV show The Fall guy this movie of course has nothing to do with the show except for the name, the truck and the theme song at the end. I found it entertaining during 45 minutes but the thing is 2 hour long and it has a really thin plot. The love story is quite silly and the stakes are not even that high. All the time you get the sense that Emily Blunt's character is not really THAT angry towards Gosling. And she shouldnt, it is not as if the protagonist had done anything too mean to her, he just had a crisis after a near dead experience. I also think the most original jokes like the unicorn or the dog appeared quite early in the script and then there was never any other gag with that quirky quality.

9:22 I didn’t like the lead lady. My husband did actually fall and break his back and get back on his feet. It was hard work and an emotional time is to be expected. And for the movie to put her in charge, let her set him on fire multiple times needlessly till he got her point, was gross. It made her a selfish unsympathetic villain in my eyes. Undeserving of the attention he keeps paying her while going thru hell. She just berates him for not being up to her ideals and he says, you’re right, I’m trying to do better. The movie made this pinnacle of testerone and machismo from an 80’s IP that was played in our homes because we only had 3 channels, took this icon and made him cry while singing Taylor Swift. Another expected part of the action genre is the damsel with T&A. All the women were dressed as professional ceos and saved themselves or the men around them. The only objectified bodies were the villain and his crew, in his Speedo and bath robe. I found it not living up to the hype, and the Hollywood woke changes were too obvious.

This movie was pretty disappointing and lifeless. To be fair though, it’s exactly the feeling got from the trailers; I was just hoping to be pleasantly surprised. I liked Bullet Train so I gave it a shot. I just kept thinking of Shane Black like Maggie brings up. Ryan Gosling in The Nice Guys was great and this felt like a try hard and failed attempt at Shane Black’s style and dialog. The humor was so dull, and this was a frustrating mess to watch given its potential.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.I didn't like it either.Non-existant chemistry between Emily and Ryan.Plot loopholes galore etc.
