I dont think they, there is a reason why they don't. They're very fearful people will die or seriously injure themselves in order to win an Oscar. Could create a lot of tragedies just because people want a piece of metal.
@SliceOfEvan

@Kieronic1989 I've heard this reasoning before and it's absolutely bogus. There is so many safety measures that you have to go through for any stunt and stuntpeople already die from stunts. Happened from Deadpool 2 and The Dark Knight just off the top of my head. So these people need to be honored and those after. Again lamest excuse. Ever.

A lot of stunt people and coordinators don't want an Oscar category. The reason is that it is dangerous enough already without this idea that going bigger might win you an Oscar. It has been mentioned a few times by stunt people on the Corridor Crew couch. They absolutely deserve recognition for what they do, but a competition to outdo each other with something so dangerous isn't the way.
@ETibbs11

Yeah, I felt like the honorary Oscars would be a better place for recognizing stunt men and women. Kind of like a lifetime award for a certain actor or actress, I think we just need to recognize and admire the amazing stunt work that's been done over the years.
@ThisIsMyFullName
@ThisIsMyFullName Ай бұрын
You can easily fix that by describing the category as something that not only requires stunts to be big. Maybe it's more about how it looks on screen than how difficult it was to achieve. Often the great stunts aren't really noticeable because they look so real, like rolling down a set of stairs.
@aliali-ce3yf

As a wee little nipper growing up in the late 70's - 80's in the great kindom of the the uniteds of the UK. The "Fall Guy" will, WILL, always be that great ensemble of great American tv like ..... The Fall Guy, CHiPs, Wonder Women, Street Hawk, Airwolf, Simon & Simon, Oh my god, we were so lucky ITV bought the rights to these shows and more back then. I always remember Lee Majors singing in the titles of The Fall Guy, "I'm the unknown stuntman that made Eastwood look so fine." Oh, "The Littlest Hobo" Ahhhh, the memories. Was also brought to the uk via ITV in the 80's.

I was a huge fan of the TV show and watched every episode. It hit me at just the right age - about 10-years old - when there seemed to be fantastic stunts in every film. Raiders of the Lost Ark had just come out and that blew me away. I think Harrison Ford even narrated a television special that same year on the stunt industry. So that's a HUGE motivator for me to see this film and I'm very happy that it has turned out good (at least from most of the critics that I'm hearing from).

This was such a delight! I laughed SO much and adored the dynamic between Jody and Colt. It struck a great balance between all of the action-thriller-mystery genre trappings AND the romantic comedy ones without being cliched or predictable and I love how the writing and dialogue was so intentional. So much went full circle. This is my favorite movie of the year so far 🤗 and yes, my whole theatre cheered and clapped at the end too!

I loved "Hooper" as well. The outfit Gosling is wearing in the opening scene (black and yellow leather) reminded me of Burts outfit in the opening scene of "Hooper". A nod from one stunt movie to another? Speaking of "nods"... in one of the fight/shootout scenes, the sound effect of "The Six Million Dollar Man"s bionic power was added, in what I can only imagine of being a nod to Lee Majors. I loved the "Fall Guy" TV series when I was a teenager. I've always been interested in the behind the scenes of movies and stunts. The end of movie credits with the extra views of the stunts was really cool. But unfortunately the story of the movie didn't interest me at all.

The Rundown is actually the only Dwayne Johnson film I enjoy. I think it's the one film he's done when he was actually the least "The Rock" in it, compared to his other films. Plus the fact that he was in a buddy comedy action film, where he is the guy constantly getting worked over and made fun of during the wacky events, helped to make it more enjoyable. Plus I think he and Sean William Scott just had REALLY good chemistry on set. The comedic timing between them, the banter, the overall tone and mood of the two of them, it felt really effortless. I could do without pretty much every other Rock film he's done, but The Rundown? Yeah that one is gold.

I really liked the inclusion of sound clips that reference other stuff such as Lee Major's bionic arm to Dune's desert singers

This movie was great. Great stunts. Great acting. Great cinematography. Great humor. Great soundtrack. I expect it to bomb super hard at the box office.

Some of my favorite Ryan Gosling movies that he's in are: Blade Runner 2049, The place beyond the pines, Drive, The notebook, Gangster Squad & Crazy Stupid love. There are still others I need to see. Hopefully I can add this one to the list.

There was a movie called The Stuntman with Peter o’Toole as the lead. It proceeded the tv show with Lee Majors.

I've been excited for this movie since the first time I saw the trailer. I tried to get into an early screening but couldn't. I'm hoping to see it this Friday. I'm glad to hear is as good as it looks

I was a big fan of the TV show The Fall guy this movie of course has nothing to do with the show except for the name, the truck and the theme song at the end. The Fall Guy movie is more of a romantic comedy. Even with the action scenes it's not worth seeing it at the cinema this is a Netflix and Chill type of movie. Alcohol required.

Right, saw it this weekend and it felt like a summer movie, a bit silly, over the top but fun and yeah the love letter to stunt people. Also great chemistry between Gosling and Blunt. Worth the watch

I have only been this excited once before about a movie (fight club). I saw this opening night and it was definitely worth the time and money. Very fun movie with everything I like. I am sad that Ryan didn't sing the "unknown stuntman" song... that is my only complaint (and it is a big complaint).

Gosling certainly deserves all the great comments but let's not forget Emily Blunt is also terrific, especially when having a good scene partner. I'm really looking forward to seeing them together. I think they'll bring the best out of each other!

I find that only if a movie has a grand scale do I feel compelled to experience it in a theater, whereas I used to just go to every movie that interested me. This is due to a number of factors, but is something that seems to be a prevailing trend. Will this encourage the movie industry to make more epic movies in a bid to restore the theater model? I'm waiting to see the first charging station drive-in be built.

Having watched the movie a week ago, I totally agree with this review. The movie doesn't really know where it wants to go for quite a while and that is confusing but it is enjoyable, very funny and has great action. And it is sooo meta (which I like). I kinda understand why it is not really pulling huge audiences but it's a pity, really. I try to convince people to go watch it. Watching your review, I get the feeling I want to go see it again. Maybe it will become a cult classic.

What was the reason given to Gosling (as Colt) to be the one tasked with finding Tom Ryder and NOT the cops or a PI? He wasn’t actually a professional bounty hunter unlike the tv show which I didn’t like - he was searching for Tom to help out Jody. The script was very Shane Black.

I loved The Fall Guy with Lee Majors! So, I was really hoping this would be good. I was disappointed that The A-Team never got a sequel. I really enjoyed that movie too even though I had some nitpicks. Another great series from Glen A Larson who did a lot of shows in the 80s, most known for Knight Rider.
