Thanks for uploading your video and giving us your opinions on this, though I did delay the update for my case, because I understand that Bethesda has a poor track record when it comes to updates or even launches of their games, not everything is always perfect for good enough, and not only that I don't want to get my mods to be broken for a while until they update the script extender I play on PC and though I do have some performance problems because my PC is not the latest and greatest Hardware, I can at least play the game with my mods even though the game has kind of poor performance as it is before the update, but I do look forward to getting the update eventually when all these other things and issues are fixed cuz not everyone's having a great time with the update, I mean some people were completely stupid about this and didn't pay attention I guess and didn't make the steps to prevent their game from updating, for myself I kept my Steam and offline mode but I also set my app manifest file for Fallout 4 to read only so that steam could not automatic update regardless, and that seemed to prevent it from screwing with my setup, again I will eventually update, but I I knew that Bethesda would throw in some garbage that may or may not help it and I want to wait for a more stable version of the update before I Port myself over, to me it's common sense to do that I understand people on consoles it's a bit different, their version of the game runs really fucking well in comparison to the PC funny enough, but that has more to do with Bethesda than anything it depends on how the structure of the game is and the improvements they made worked on different machines, so there are some machines that actually works on really well on pc, but the vast majority of people are having issues so I'm going to wait it out for the next update or whatever other fixes come to mind eventually they will stabilize it, I do believe in that but it's going to take them a while.

@@Matt_the_TechRanger like i said, i do believe it will eventually improve and become the best version of the game which is what we all want in this update. but it might take a while, i'm unsure if it will take a week, bethesda are kind of slow with updates and you really never know when the next fix will come in, it could be a week but it could also be 6 months from now which is something most people want to avoid at all possible costs especially if this is the only game they tend to play lol. i'm guilty of 10,000 hours played for my skyrim, and i only recently within the last year started regularly playing FO4, i have other games in my library but i almost never play them as much as i do in my bethesda games that can be modded to hell and back all the time lol. so for me, delaying the update was the right call, nobody likes being stuck with a broken game and have to wait for a stupid update that may or may not fix everything.

Matt my game freezes after 15 to 20 minutes of gameplay. I have stopped playing and my free space says 0 for mods, I saw that already. Is there an option in settings that can help my game to stop suddenly closing? I'm on Xbox one s.

Yeah, the only issue I've had so far is the Makeshift weapons quest with the missing textures. Having the red exclamation points in place

Clarity and enhanced color correction for weather, vivid fallout, unofficial patch and a few other mods is all I’m running right now and it’s flawless

Same. But I'm now crashing and freeze and stutter. May I ask which console? Of course the Xbox 360 showed us all to never expect one console to be like another. Just curious.

Tested with Clarity + NAC X Lite fixed Seems to work fine on Xbox Series X. Though there is a small bug with the Halloween creation's TV helmet, the display on said TV screen doesn't seem to work with weather mods.

Someone on the Discord mentioned it might have something to do with how they named it in their code on the Series X|S versions compared to the others. I’m sure we’ll find out soon.

Probably a good idea just to get some clarification 👍 As far as a comparison, that might be a job best suited for Digital Foundry when they get their hands on it. But I can definitely swap between the two for my next load order video and comment on it. I’m at 1.91GB at the moment 😜

@@andrewviner5833 On Series X, that mod breaks shadows in the distance now. They are all wonky and super distracting (like horizontal stripes moving when you move).

I use CFL Attic as my preset for TreyM as it gives the environment a very desert-ish, hot look for my Mad Max playthroughs but with the update it had too much of a purple hint so i adjusted my TV settings. I do suspect that there other mods that are causing CTD, one was most frequent when the Raiders in Concord first starting firing their guns at me. Note that I have quite a few replacers active, as well as outfits added to the levelled lists such as the Desert Punks pack.

Have been playing the new update on Xbox Series S (vanilla with 6 CC items) and had 1 freeze and crash around the crater area in Boston after about 5 hrs gameplay. Have since reloaded save and got past that spot and struck the exclamation mark problem with the Piggies, died several times due to being unable to see the Piggy mines (red block). On PS5, after having to download the PS5 version (painful) and playing only vanilla, had no problems fingers crossed. On PC, playing vanilla with 3 mods and seems okay 👍. Not game to try other mods as yet. If anything comes up will keep you informed.

Its really weird, but as you pointed out, even calamity weathers is performing better than lightweight lighting (also, didnt get messed up at all).

Tried Enhanced Lighting and FX too and while it was a bit frame-y, it didn’t crash on me. I feel like I need to try em all again after the Monday update 😂 For science!

@@Matt_the_TechRanger hopefully things will be sorted out tomorrow. I just want to have access to the mods menu without being booted out to the start screen and have all my mods disabled. I had managed to finish a load order which was pretty definitive and then this bs came along.

The quality mode is definitely broken on Series S/X because on PS5 it has higher graphics settings and 30fps like its supposed to be. On series X it also seems to be missing some effects such as screen space reflections or higher resolution textures in certain areas (some textures still look straight out of Half Life...). Some objects and shadows also look horrible or pop in when you move closer in front of you which is ridiculous for a so called next gen upgrade...

Yeah, I don't get them saying the Xbox version is working how it's supposed to, I took screenshots just after leaving the vault on all modes across ps5 and series x and the quality mode on PS5 has more trees and grass loading in the distance, aswel as other objects

I’m on series x. My game stutters and freezes a lot. Like it’s trying to load. It does it even if I use one mod at a time. So something is def messed up. My game ran better as modded before the update. I’ll take my previous performance over the increase resolution any day. I hate when Bethesda screws us all over like this.

Just started playing fallout 4 with new update. I forgot to remove my mods before the update so I cleared it before playing. Haven’t had any major problems. My game runs much smoother than it used to. I can actually explore and fight in downtown Boston without much problems. I might crash every now and then but that was after hours of playing and when I was using super flashy weapons like the incinerator against lots of enemies. I have also experienced significantly less lag. The new content is enjoyable and I have not had any bugs from them. Overall I had an enjoyable experience with this update but I do miss my load order. :(

Boston Less Enemies has always helped me with Boston, I also have an SSD hooked up and use a performance tweaks mod, I rundown Boston, zero issues on my Series X. I also like Boston less enemies cause theres still plenty, just not 6 groups all held up in the same building for every building. Hope that helps someone.

I may have to throw Less Enemies back on. I actually just tested Boston and there were a lot of enemies around. FPS tanked and when I took everyone out, it was silky smooth again, lol.

@@Matt_the_TechRanger I was shocked when I was running around in front of Goodneighbor and Swan's Pond trying to force it to crash just to stress test it haha. It held up for me though, so ya I definitely hope it helps. Like I said, I also have an SSD hooked up to my Series X, and I think it's called Nytra's Performance tweaks. Edit: Insignificant object remover as well.

I took screenshots across all modes on PS5 and Series X just after leaving the vault and the PS5 quality mode is the only one that lookes different, theres a lot more objects loaded into the distance including trees and grass

I am using my 100 mod load order fine to go into previous save files on Xbox One. It does not say anything is disabled. I can't load into the mod page at all though, just says operation can't be completed. So I'm stuck playing a Resident Evil gameplay until things are resolved lol I only noticed a performance boost at harbormaster hotel for the Halloween stuff. I always crashed in that area before. Otherwise downtown Boston is the same.

Haven’t had that happen before. Might be something up with mods you use if any edit NPCs like him.. You might try searching around on the F4 mods Reddit or Bethesda Discord.

Had to re download my load order based off pictures I had of it saved. Besides some UI mods everything seems to work fine with this update. 150 modded load order works great

The Library and Favorited mods aren’t all showing in-game but they are there if you log on Bethesda.net. Still an issue. Do you mean it’s not showing any mods installed when you look at your load order? If that’s the case then you’ll probably have to clear your Reserved Space and reinstall your mods. Since there was just an update yesterday. I think that’s your best bet if they’re still not there.

Playing vanilla, the only issues I have had have been some stuttering and random fuzziness in build menu, mainly after I have quick resumed. But a restart of the game fixes that. Oh and I have no dang mods and the makeshift weapons are red exclaimation marks.

I have 200+ mods installed for making FO4 into an immersive FPS instead of a slow spongy RPG. It is working even better after the update :) I also got the Def_UI working, just have to place it close to the end of you LO

My VATS now picks up everything, through walls, all non visible enemy. Doing my head in. Before update this did not happen. Some may see it as a blessing. Me, noooooooooooooooooooo

I’m not sure if it is the update or if it is the mods I am using, but unfortunately I am using character creation and what happened is the sculpt, type and color options are greyed out. When I hover the circle over the face parts, it doesn’t highlight in green. The game freezes while in the cryo pod. I am playing on Xbox One. This is my favorite game to play and I really don’t want it to be unplayable. I don’t know what to do.

Probably a bit of everything 😂 Player character mods weren’t working well after the update. If you’re freezing, it could be your load order. Uninstall, hard reset, and reinstall. When you download mods, look at mod descriptions and avoid character mods for now 👍

The Chinese grenade launcher, saw blade, and Flakka are invisible. I see those same red check marks. Scrolling through the pip boy too fast crashes the game. Entering into certain dialogues is rigid and awkward with stutters in the background. Accessing terminals looks blocky and the character freezes until it completely circles to the front of the terminal. Such a shame because it is true that the FO series motivated me to redownload FO4 especially with the next gen update. Hope there is some resolution (wishful thinking).

There is a patch in the works per their Discord. Some of their help articles now point to a ‘future update’. Stuff like that, 0B bug, ‘Operation cannot be completed’. Hoping for that soon 🙏 It’s weird cause it’s not happening to everyone so I see where people can be frustrated

I'm playing on XBOX SX. I have no Load Order after the update. There are no beautification Mods anymore, like CBBE clothes, AWKRC is gone. It took me the last 2 days to reconstruct a Load Order that looks fine. See forward for Load order Videos from you. Greetz from Germany.

Ever sense the update I cant even load fallout to the main menu. If I completely uninstall and play on the cloud through gamepass it's fine, but once I install it the game becomes useless.

@@inspirationwizard1023 You'll want to make sure everything has been updated since the DLCs also got patches. Outside of that, I'm not sure why you wouldn't be able to reach the main menu without crashing. You can try a hard reset to clear your system cache after you check for updates.

So they made a performance mode....for systems that have no problem handling the game. Yet a regular Xbox which can't handle Boston and crashes, and NEEDS a performance mode, gets no performance mode despite being forced to download the update anyways... Makes perfect sense.

That’s not what performance mode means. There were stability fixes for Xbox One/Ps4 in the update. How well that went over, I’m not sure since I have a Series X. The performance mode for current gen consoles was to include a native option to get the game running at 60hz since those consoles can handle it.

@@Matt_the_TechRanger what, then, is "quality mode"? I figured quality was better graphics and performance was smoother at the cost of graphics. Since the only option is performance mode, I figured quality mode was the default that the game already plays in.

@@ZZ-bt2jr Quality would use a higher base resolution and try to hit 4K 30hz/60hz. Effectively what the game was running, just locked at 30fps max. It seemed like, on the Series X at least, that it gets close to 60fps in most spots still if you set 60 as your target; just not as smooth as Performance. It's not a full 4K res but a type of checkboard rendering, I think. Not sure about PlayStation. With performance, there's a lower base resolution target (2k on Series X, 1080p on S) and that removes some foilage and things. You can select the frame rate target on both. 30/40(with VRR display/60. I made a video on my experience with the modes but Digital Foundry made one after this update which is really good if you want to see the differences.

I’m getting a really weird problem happening every time I hit the pause button to make a manual save my game crashes. I’m on Xbox series X I’ve tried going down my mod list and disabling mods one after another to see what could be the issue but so far no luck is anybody else having this issue where they can’t even open the options button in-game?

If you’ve had a lot of bigger mods that added stuff, like Sim Settlements, then that can make your characters save file pretty big. If you didn’t and just have a lot of saves, you might want to try deleting some. You can also turn off auto-saving for some things if it’s not needed.

@@Matt_the_TechRanger Thanks TR unfortunately the problem has escalated I noticed the unofficial patch kept reactivating itself, even though I disabled it I tried to remove it and now every time I get to the main menu of the game, it crashes. So things went from bad to worse I may have to clear my reserve space again just to be able to start the game up. This sucks I hope Bethesda addresses these issues ASAP.

@@ProperPaladin the unofficial patch seemed to be causing people issues last week per the Bethesda Discord. If you’ve exhausted everything else, that could be it. But clearing reserved space would definitely get rid of it. After, a hard reset on the Xbox will clear the cache

I'm on xb one x. I got all quests added. Thought that was just for next gen? My mods are unaffected. During combat the performance is better, but slightly jittery at times outside of combat/slight screen split going through doors for a second/a few billboards don't display images - nothing game breaking atm.

Have noticed the jitter here and there but then it smoothes out. Interesting to hear that is similar on the One X (used to own that console 🙌). If you see the billboards missing textures a lot, Illuminated Billboards might be a mod you’d like. I’d imagine that would be on the list of issues but 🤷‍♂️

Would be worth seeing what kind of update Bethesda has this week before you do anything. Last resort might be to clear Reserved Space and reinstall everything (just leave out Def UI) if you’re using it. You can always reload your save then.

I've had an issue where the nail gun and the sawblade launcher don't show up in my inventory or the merchant inventory or when i inspect them they either dont show up or show up as a red streak on the screen like the sawblade launcher for instance. They fire a red ! Message when i fired them and they didn't show up when i held them. I didn't go any further than when pigs fly but I'm sure that everything else that's going wrong is going wrong as well. I contacted bethesda support about it and hopefully other people are reporting it too so it will be fixed for everybody quicker instead of blowing hot air and quiting entirely. It did give me the prompt to download them even though they were supposedly already downloaded but they didn't indicate they were downloading. Again i hope this becomes enough of a thig where they fix it quick.

i downloaded all my mods again and all my game does it crash and doesn’t even start a new game all it does is crash instantly so ig a shit load of mods don’t even work anymore and its hard to figure out which one is even working and isn’t. so frustrating had a perfect load order of 150 mods

Dang that sucks. Def UI was the culprit for me. Someone mentioned in the comments they got it to work but I moved it everywhere and no dice. I know when the update dropped that Settlement and Scrap mods had some issues as well as the Unofficial Patch. I think Sim Settlements got an update but that’s just what I gathered from the Discord since I don’t use it. Might be worth looking around on the mods Reddit or Bethesda Discord.

For me, before the patch I couldn't access creation club: it was greyed out in the menu. After the patch, it's the mods item that's greyed out. I tried deleting the reserved space (or whatever it's called), but no luck.

I can't play this game because of mods, The mod menu has stopped working for me for a few days I have no access to the mod menu in game the Mods keep crashing my game so I can't play It, the Bethesda webpage will not let me change my password so I can take the mods off, so im stuck in a death loop of crashing, even uninstalling and re-installing does nothing because mods are linked to my account, so I had to put this to bed I had my fun with this game years ago but I'm done with it now✌️

If you load up and get into your save then I’d say just roll with it. If you get a notification that you’re missing things, back out and at that point, then it might be worth it to wait for an update since it’s about to be a new work week. They can’t update your mods but maybe they can do something about mods not showing for people. I was just impatient and run a channel so I was a special case, lol.

Avoid character mods, stuff like faction overhauls can make the game stutter in Boston a bit. Def_UI is crashing. Outside of that, it’s business as usual with mods.

I did notice the Tls Fallout recolored ended up looking weird with the lighting changes. Like my character had chapped lips, lol. I took it off and on a new character, it seemed fine. I’d probably stay away from TLS Characters Reculpted too.

It’s on by default for the Series consoles and PS5. That tripped me up too 💯 Need some more time with it on the 4K monitor to see the difference. Since both modes target 60fps on Series X.

I'm on series s. Before the update f4 was literally unplayable, downtown Boston crashed constantly. Now it's excellent. I've put 30ish hrs in since update, I've crashed twice while in my pip boy. Boston is flawless, I'm not getting any lag or noticing any hitching. I will say I'm on a no mod playthrough since I'm going for achievements. Would absolutely recommend this to series s players

Is anybody else having an issue where where their mods are getting turned off by default every time they try to play the game online? I prefer to get my load order the way I like and then keep offline (to avoid horrible updates like this one) however every time I go to the main menu it does some weird loading screen and then bang, all my mods have been turned off. Any work around?

Used to be able to set a load order online and then play offline with same mods enabled as long as you liked x

Could be going offline and on a bunch that is causing it. Since the servers are kind of hammered, it might be similar to the 0B glitch where the server isn't sure you have mods installed anymore when you actually do. Something similar was happening with Skyrim after the Creations update. A hard reset of the console might help but it could also be an internet thing.

Did I just see, "Do not login into Fallout 4 while online?" Did I REALLY just see that!? Just now!? I get locked out of the mods menu for 3 months where it acted like my login didn't exist when it did on my Series X (Even went on the website and it showed my account still works). I had the "$CreateAcct_Bnet_Data_Not_Found" error. I did a test a week in a half before the update on my Xbox one S just to see if I can get in the menu there. Same issue. So I go ahead and uninstall the game (not the reserve space and all the other stuff, but that doesn't matter as it erases your mods regardless when uninstalling the game itself.) I was able to access the mods menu on the One S. I didn't want to uninstall on the Series X as I had a couple mods that were deleted. Well update day arrives, which was also my birthday, I went ahead and bit the bullet installed it, finally having access to the mods menu, while noticing most of my library and favorites were missing and then noticed all my mods were gone, along with seeing the free space at 0. After starting a new game, the prewar nuke and the loading screens have a pink tint. Most importantly, I went to downtown Boston for the full meat and potatoes... I experienced some heavy frame drops around the Mass Fusion Building through Shamrock Taphouse, yet no crashes, but the fights were a bit unbearable. Barely managed to install 60fps mod and a performance mod, it was better than what it was, but could be better. They could've kept this update... especially when they did not fully test it, or even test it at all. Took them two years to work on this update, but of course with the state of Star Field, numbers don't even matter. Not sure how to process this experience, but deep down in my soul I have reached new plateaus of anger. That notification at 4:42 about downloading the update should have been annouced to the public. You'd think there would've been spreading like wildfire, like more videos talking about not installing the update/playing offline etc... Nice to see it last minute.

Sorry you had problems with that. Sometimes these things aren’t a problem until the masses get their hands on it. The Bethesda Support site would be a good start or the Discord. I was the same as everyone else when the update dropped. Just gotta roll with it, unfortunately.

@@Matt_the_TechRanger I'm not holding it against you or anything like that after all the hype, this ended up doing more damage than repair, whilst erasing LO's. I did look up that "$Create_Acct..." error. tried everything listed to no luck, restarted the internet, cleared mac address, and so on. I went ahead and took matters into my own hands and here we are. I went back to Skyrim, and also bought Baldur's Gate 3, that will keep me busy until they can mitigate this issue.

A mod is a file that you can download that is not created by the developer.. but rather a fan of the game. It can be anything from new textures, armors, weapons, weathers, and gameplay changes. For those that have played a lot of the game, mods are something that can keep you playing or bring something new to it. If you're new to the universe, I highly recommend playing the game without mods for your first run. That way when you do start adding mods, you'll appreciate it more.

@@Heavenlystubble the Creation Club content with the missing textures was fixed. No visual/graphics changes on the OG Xbox One outside of that. Mostly under the hood fixes for PS4/Xbox One. Series consoles and PS5 have the visual/performance mode now that’s been fixed.

The biggest issue I have with the update is that they force us to install the 'new' 'free' creation club content. We can't remove it and can't refuse it on Xbox. It shouldn't be base-game, it's creation club content that has so many quests that aren't started in an immersive way. Also it doesn't help that said content is buggy: Some quests are possibly broken, the tesla cannon is missing animations, the makeshift weapons have no models and no textures and a ceiling with the interior added by the makeshift weapons pack is missing collisions.

It’s weird to have all that stuff pop up when leaving the vault. Surprised there isn’t a level cap like some weapon mods. If you do any of the Enclave stuff early, you’re getting shredded.

@@Matt_the_TechRanger Meh, depends on the difficulty. Survival, yeah 100% they will delete you from existence at any level. Issue is, I and many others play on survival, so their 'questline' is going to basically be impossible, especially with that part where you go up an elevator and immediately get shot at. On lower difficulties, they are not an issue I imagine.

@@HaterOfBayle 👍I had Mortendil’s Combat mod on prior to the update and that seemed pretty good once you got high up there. Less bullet sponges but It can be unforgiving once enemies get tougher. Lower levels can be extra dangerous cause headshots are lethal.

If you're connected to the internet and load up the game, you have the update. Mage Game & Add-ons > File Info. and you should see your last update was in May. This is an older video. A lot of the issues in this video have been addressed.
