Looking fantastic! Anyone have any recommendations on what variety of Ulu to plant in Mountain View….extremely rocky aina…about right at 1500’? We are on 4 acres…also….any thoughts on pushing the zone…I think it might be a little too chilly…black weed mat? For extra warmth maybe🤙

Although I prefer the Samoan variety (Ma’afala) I would try the Hawaiian variety (‘Ulu) because I think they are used to higher elevations. But you can try contacting the Hawai’i ‘Ulu Co-op for expert advice at www.eatbreadfruit.com

Yes you can but it’s not necessary. I’ve pruned the lower branches of a one year old tree because it was getting too bushy and cluttered at the base. But it was more for the lawn upkeep and aesthetics.

I am a Canada citizen, and I am wondering if it's possible for me to buy a farmland in Hawaii to plant breadfruit trees？ I love trees, and breadfruit trees in particular. And what type of visa with which I can work in the U.S legally and permanently, E2 visa? thank you in advance

I'm not sure on the logistics but my neighbor and his wife are from Canada and have been living in Hawaii for the last 10 years on a lychee orchard. It is very possible. Thanks for tuning in, aloha!
