Don't force the fast is the best advice. Whether you're new or a veteran, you need to listen to your body. When you're new, you often need to take your time easing into longer fasts. Your body needs to get used to what you're putting through it, and you will see that you can comfortably go longer each time. As a veteran, sometimes it's just not a good time for it as Cynthia says. I'm a veteran faster now working into longer dry fasts. I was about 40 hours into a 72 hour fast a few weeks ago and I was just not handling it well. I broke my fast early and tried again the next week with much better results.
@NaturallyLluvme4 ай бұрын
I agree that you need to stop and listen to your body. I tried to force a 72 hour fast, and had to quit at 50 hours. I decided to really work my way back into ADF and then try longer fasts after at least two weeks. I have low iron, so that may be the culprit. I had infusions but suspect the levels are low again even with oral supplements. Fasting is miraculous when done right.

There's another aspect to fasting that I've experienced several times during longer fast periods of 9 days plus, (although it also happened on my first 5 day fast as well). And that is a more acute spiritual and sub-conscious awareness. In fasted states, I've accessed deep deep deep into my background psyche. Far more revealing than in general meditation.

@user-kc7mu4jp4p Hi user-kc, *am i sure it wasn't hallucinations ? Hay, i didn't / don't consider it to be. I think your question and angle of enquiry is a really interesting and valid one. Other than my own anecdotal perspective, i have no proof or evidence that the experiences are not hallucinatory. However, i would offer to say that the experiences left me with very tangible benefits in my personal life. The resolve, resilience and development of character that steers my direction today, has been inspired through those "spiritual" experiences through fasting. For example, to break-fast fron my first 10 day fast, i made an agreement with myself that i would only eat when i had foraged and hunted / trapped foods from the wild. I absolutely nailed it, and brought back enough for a feast. The confidence and esteem gained through the entire process would be a pretty neat pay-off for a hallucination. Fast forward two years to today and 80% of my nutritional needs come from the wild. I have developed skills and options and a "spirit" that makes me feel good , alive , and confident. Fortified by the virtue of fasting. That's one example of many, so if that's the benifit of hallucinating i will buy it. But, if it is the result of honing ones spiritual and psychological potential via fasting, it's worth consideration.

not all of us. But a whole lot of us. What is really tragic is that a friend in her 70s is going into dementia, but stopping her from smoking and eating carbs to halt and possibly reverse it with a carnivore diet just isn't going to happen. I was making pork belly one day and she was visiting and so she asked what it was and I told her and she picked up a little piece I had cut and put it in her mouth and then spit it out because… Too much fat. (And I'm like… That's the best part, 😂). I think the reason that I don't have wrinkles everywhere is because I never wanted to stick to the lowfat advice that was crammed down my throat since the 1970s. I have played with it here and there, But avoiding it never helped me. It just made me eat more carbs.

I appreciate any videos on fasting. As I did my first 30 day water-only fast in 1974 when I was 29 years old, I think I can say I have some experience with fasting. I have done a fair amount of fasting in this past 50 years and did a 16 day water-only fast at age 76. I would like to do a longer fast soon as I know the amazing benefits, mental clarity and Spiritual insights one can get on an extended water-only fast, especially after the 21 day mark. I do not think for me, Intermittent fasting or short fasts have any benefit. I know that the real change in the body happens by the third or fourth day and that is when the real fast benefits begin. My experience is that by the tenth day on only water a huge surge of energy happens. The hunger factor is gone by the fourth day, so going longer is a breeze. The first three days are murder for me... I have a very hard time getting through the first day, and continues for three full days... after that it is wonderful... Resting during extended fasts is essential... I never have used Electrolytes in 50 years of fasting. I only use tap water that has been filtered with a Britta filter... just my own experience.

I hope you don't mind, but I have a few questions; why did you start fasting? As you have been fasting for years, do you feel that there is a difference, healthwise, between you & other people of similar age, who doesn't fast? Do you prepare before long fasts? Lastly, I have been fasting as well, but hunger is ever close. Hunger comes & goes, but at times, it does get quite accute for me. Is this a case of practice makes perfect?
@Dakiniwoman7 ай бұрын
@@JoMHo-ty4tp Hello and thank you for your questions. Yes, I started fasting on water only after reading a book called "Rational Fasting" by Arnold Ehret where he had documented his own experiments with fasting to heal his own body that had been in a near death state. I wanted to detox my own body for better health even though at the time I was in good health and young in my 20's. Then at age 29 I did a 30 day water only fast for healing also and it was such an incredible Spiritual experience. Jesus fasted 40 days and I know why. After the first three or four days on only water the hunger totally disappears and you feel amazing. Then by the tenth day you get a huge surge of energy. By the 21st day you begin to have the mental clarity that you can not ever remember having in your life before this. The clarity of mind puts your whole life in perspective and you suddenly realize what is most important for you. It is just the most fantastic thing I can every tell you. But the first three or four days can be very challenging. Your mind must be prepared for an extended fast. You need to eat lightly for a few days before you start and make sure you rest during your fast. You must not try doing any kind of exercise or strenuous activity. Your body will be detoxing and it could cause some discomfort if your own body is very toxic. I would recommend doing some reading and watch videos by Tyler Tolman or Tanglewood Wellness Center on fasting and hear the testimonials of others who have done extended fasts. The real fast does not start until after the third day when your body realizes no more food is coming in and it gets very active in using up your own fat for fuel. Any person can fast for at least 65 days before starvation kicks in. Starvation is when your body begins to use it's muscle after fat reserves are depleted. I would not recommend any water fast before you have educated yourself and done several shorter fasts first. I hope this helps you.

She said do not give him anything in between meals because eating in between meals causes his stomach to have to go another 5 1/2 hours to empty and that’s why those children had potbellies because they were eating in between meals and their stomach was never emptying and they weren’t getting the nutrients that they needed and my son ate that way for a year and he never had to go back to the doctor for ear infections which had begun to be every week. @msc83827 ай бұрын
Insuline resistance means that the glucose cannot be pushed into the cells (transformed into ATP) by the mitochrondia because of high oxidative stress, due polluted proteins. So, logically, the body needs to get rid of it, but has no means to properly function due dysregulation of the mitochrondria. So where would the energy go? Fat! After a long time exposure of this dysfunction, your body can't even get rid of the toxins (at this point) that is glucose. This is why we develop a leaky gut, or fatty liver (cirrhosis). The more fatty the liver becomes, the less capable the liver becomes in appropriately producing the right amount of insuline. It makes total sense to me. I have not read any resource from Ben Bikman.

Now that I have lost the weight that I needed to lose and am at my goal weight, I continue to do OMAD simply because I feel the best with that eating schedule and it works with my lifestyle.

For some.. correcting your body's IR can take awhile.. You didnt put on all that weight over night, but most likely.. over a number of years.. so there is no way you'll likely correct it in a week. You want the have the greatest opportunity for sucess to correct your IR and rebody composition.. so dont try to or think this happens overnight or in a week or in a few weeks. IT DOESNT WORK THAT WAY. Yes.. get your IR checked at least twice per year.. I would go further and do it once every qtr. Dial your diet in ... start with KETO is you'r just getting started.. train yourself to eating/consuming a low daily carb intake diet!. Then slowly move to a more keto-vore, then maybe to a carnivore.. Ladies your goals should be burn fat, tone up and put on as much lean quality muscle as you can - safely of course. I went from consuming around 200 grams of garbage carbs a day to now.. well under 20 grams daily.. generally much lower, and I'm ultra active. My daily activy on average.. somewhere around a 1000 calorie burn.. 4 to 5 day per week. So yes you can do this.

I like salad with a home made dressing of extra virgin olive oil and red wine vinegar (at least 4:1) and plenty of it to up the clories. Pile on whatever protein you like to satiety. Do 6 meals a week and occasionally a 72 hour fast but don't worry about consuming carbs if you're comfortable going 20 hours without food. That's my observation, personally. Electrolytes and multivitamines are a choice and I take them and salt on the salad works for me to add flavour.

I don't know. Carnivore takes care of a lot of these issues. I don't really overeat or get too hungry. Yeah, if I eat keto treats I definitely feel like I could eat a whole plate of cookies or whatever. But once the dopamine hit is off the table and you aren't eating sweets you feel much calmer about food.

My biggest concern as I approach 70 yrs old is exactly what Ms Thurlow talks about wanting to avoid, muscle loss and ability to ambulate in a meaningful way. Last year, due to my lab numbers, my doc wanted me on a statin. I reluctantly began taking it and immediately developed massive muscle pain in my thighs. So off I came and I knew I had to do something. I started carnivore which brought my lab numbers down significantly within a few months.

Her story hits home. I also had acute appendicitis. For two months, I thought it was endometriosis pain, until it was almost too late. After imaging, the radiologists (plural), came into the room to tell me they’d called the hospital for a bed because the appendix was the size of a “cooked bratwurst,” and leaking at the tip. I was given a regimen of IV antibiotics, then weeks of oral, in preparation for surgery, which killed all the intestinal microbiota that is needed for digestion. It was months before that became anything close to normal. Dysbiosis causes fatigue, memory problems, and disregulation of all the body’s systems.

I definitely have Leptin resistance. So when I’m fasting, and then I start eating in my window, I just pig out. I eat so much. I read that if I just keep on fasting, that will go away. I hope that is true. I’m so frustrated because it’s like I’m never full. And I know I shouldn’t be eating that much, but I am seeking that full feeling. Another barrier is that I don’t eat most vegetables. They give me such terrible gas, that I just can’t eat them. So I can’t fill up on vegetables. And that doesn’t help much for weight loss. I’m really crossing my fingers that fasting helps. Just been doing it for one week now.

It’s not about just calories it’s about cutting food all through 2-3 days a week . The mind must be set to hunting mode. Mental imagine to be out hunting and bringing food home . Then feast with healthy food . The fasting helps to break bad habits , give moods Bost and much more . Fasting should be no less than 36hours up to 72 hours . Then start again the week after . The body is ment to deal with inflammation, remove sugar from liver . Let the body reach fat cells and repair mode . The issue is when people is mixing fasting with sitting job on a chair . When fasting you actually need to be moving a lot to have the benefits. My wife eat alot of calories for year and still XS small having higher issue going up in weight, while the single thing I reach and it I will gain weight fast abd also I over eat ! What I understand now is that we need to learn fast and obviously cutting out all kind of sugars eat proper food cut out omega 6

I do one meal a day, eating in a 3 to 5 hour window, and zero food from plants. Fasting i.e. 48 hours to 5 days is easy, once it is practiced regularly. NO health kick or recharge can compare to it , not even close. Until agriculture became wide spread none of our ancestors had a guarantee of the next meal being available. Our species just would not be here if we were not able to live and thrive with occasional deprivation.
@monikawashington13057 ай бұрын
I'm sorry but eating within a 3-5 hour eating window does not constitute to one meal. One meal should be consumed within one hour (per the fasting method teaching).

What the hell is "fasting method teaching". We are dealing with biological science here, not religious fairy tails from self-appointed gurus.Monitor your blood glucose and your blood will tell you what "One meal a day is for you". At some point you have to put aside generalisations and "teachings" and do the work of gathering the facts about your individual bodily functions and responses' and the facts about how the human species became the way it is today.@@monikawashington1305
