My mentor was a pollinator in N.J. He gave me a mini mating nuc. This winter I will be building my own and raising queens on a larger basis this spring. He also told me only a cup of bees will take care of the queen cell and queen. He reminded me not to raise queens in these small boxes, for they would be inferior. He was great. You both know the 'tricks' in beekeeping. Fortunate for me, he taught me just about everything he knew and now I share it with other beekeepers. Thanks buddy

@ganni025 it's not thetry oil, it's TEA TREE oil. It's also known as melaleuca oil. I'm sure it's available on the internet if you can't find it at a health food store.

I'm just curious, how do the bees clean the hive w/ the hold in the middle of the box? Or do they just drag the debris up and out of the hive?? thanks

can you use the same nurse bees for the next queen cells( mini nucs ) or move all the old nurse bees and start again( using very young nurse bees ) in the next new virgin queen cell.

I'm trying to understand why you believe that breeding more bees somehow contributes to the death of bees.
