Great video! Awesome coverage of the real-world lore and the history through the various editions! I mentioned on your community post that I had crafted a potential Behir encounter for my players. Fortunately for them they declined to follow the tracks to the creature's lair. But we'll see if they'll take the bait on their return trip. Truthfully, I think it would TPK them, but might be a great encounter in the future ~ maybe some young behir hatch out and start ravaging the countryside and the party has to track them down and later deal with the source (momma and poppa). Thanks again for the great video! Hope to see some more video summaries of your game sessions in the future!

I ran a 3.5 game and used a behir family that was eating farmer’s animals. They were forced out of their area by a powerful dragon. So the party made a deal with them. They would kill the dragon and the behirs can move back away from the farmers. It was a good session

The more experienced I get as a Dungeon Master, the more I want to run more Monstrous Opponents like this, that are not Animals, but not sympathetic, humanized or reasonable beings, just good old fashioned, terrifying monsters that take brains and determination to defeat. I think the Behir captures the Monster Essence of what most people want out of a Dragon Fight, because let's face it, in most editions of D&D, Dragons are smater than the players, and if run correctly, they will TPK even smart players, because you almost never encounter a Dragon when it doesn't want you to.

My homebrew world hasn't had dragons for over a millennia so they get these instead!

@@welovettrpgs I plan on Running in Dark Sun next because it is massively seperated from the Saturday Morning Cartoon treatment of modern D&D Dragons. Even my favorite Edition, 3.5, was teetering into such territory.

I learned about beithir doing research for a World of Darkness campaign that, like most games I try to run, fell apart after 1-2 sessions. I vaguely remember the lore involved something about water and poison.

That Behir in Tsojcanth was brutal! I remember the party having a mean time with that encounter. Nothing in S4 was more brutal than the berserking clay golem, though... in our game, at least. That sucker took out 3 PCs! lol Crazy game! :-D Despite how hard and deadly that adventure was, everyone loved it! :-)

Those Monstrous Compendium binder's we're brilliant. Just take out a page as needed, minimized space usage for a D.M. ( I don't know about you, but a DM can never have enough TT space , am I write?), And when you're done, back in the Binder! I noticed you pronounce Lich, I've always done the same. I've also heard with the "K" as in Lick. Is there a proper way, or either are acceptable. Just curious. Once again we never played against one of these nasties. As a D.M. I meant too, but never got around to it. Maybe I'll revisit. I'm sure my player's will LUV me for it! 😂🤣. Thanks for ideas and inspiration. Looking forward to your next 👍. 🤘😁🖖🇨🇦❤️

Thanks my friend! There's some interesting discussions about the pronunciation but even if I were incorrect I can't image I'd change, this is just how I've always said it. I fell so far behind in my list of videos but I think I can finally catch up now. I'll have Hags uploaded by early next week. Thank You!

honestly, I think I hear of the Behir for the first time now... but I like it a lot! Sadly, with the current pace of my game, I will likely never get to run one

Hang in there! D&D has been around a long time, there's been many ups and downs. Try to ignore the doomsayers. That's usually manufactured outrage for views and likes. I'm no fan of Wizards but TTRPGs are here to stay and starting in November I'll be talking about all the other games out there - beginning with all my favorites from the 80s! Thanks!

Oh that's my homebrew "World of Terrattu." Created it because of how TSR was dicking over Gygax (I was a Greyhawk guy). I've been using it / developing it since 1987-88.
