First CORBETT of the year and I decided to visit the lesser known mountain in comparison to it's neighbour (Ben Ledi) and the mountain is called Benvane.
Hi everyone! Welcome back to yet again another SOLO Wild Camp on the stunning mountains of Scotland. I decided to do a peak camp since I've not done one in a while and I really enjoyed it! No wind and a fantastic sunset and sunrise allowed me to get some great photographs.
This is the first of many excellent summit camps both alone and with others and I personally think there will be far better to follow this year!

I’ve always wanted to climb this specific Corbett and camp on it. Finally got around to doing it after a fairly recent trip to Ben Ledi. As I said it does feel remote yet it’s only a 2 hour walk from the car with camping gear! Nothing better than trying something new👍 Hope you enjoy. More new locations to come!

You are right about the sunsets and sunrises of the west coast of Scotland Gaz m8! Seen so many money shot sunsets etc up there! Best sunset we ever saw was at arisaig. Many times over,on the same holiday..👍🙏

I agree with you about the time of year to go camping. Too many of my camps in the summer have been spoilt by midges. Is that the spicy arrabiata ? I had that on my last camp and was very impressed

Thanks John. Benvane definitely took me by surprise. It was mainly the walk up the Corbett that felt remote and perhaps a little lonely too. The summit was peaceful as there was no wind. I’ve always preferred camping in the calmer weather to try and work on my filming. I’ve never really liked camping in the wind and rain. I’ll hopefully continue to keep filming the way I’ve been doing it recently since it’s going down well with everyone👍 thanks for tuning in. ATB Gaz

Totally with you on the times of year Gaz - spring and autumn for hills, although as you say winter campfire woodland ones are fun in a different way. I was out in Snowdonia a couple of nights before this, in very similar, eerily still and quiet conditions, and absolutely loved it. I also had that exact same arrabiata meal, as thought it was pretty decent too. Very chilled and thoughtful vid this, and excellently filmed as always. Cheers. Rich 👍

Thanks Rich. I think after the recent winter I definitely prefer the camps on the warmer and lighter months. I like the idea of walking all day and getting more done too. It’s not often it’s still and quiet on the summits so I always make the most of the calm nights. Best bit about this camp was no wind chill. It was warm during the evening and also in the morning. This camping trip was very close to being the perfect camp. ATB Gaz.

Best sunset for me on a camp. I absolutely hate the wind and I generally don’t do summit camps for that reason. The forecast was spot on for this trip. Spring and autumn definitely seems to be everyone’s favourite at the moment. Thanks ATB Gaz

Yeah I was surprised that I never saw a sheep at all on this trip. It definitely felt remote. The only thing I could really film on the walk up or down was the fence. Thanks ATB Gaz

Have to agree with you Gaz with the best time of year and for the same reasons you gave. Especially when it’s like in this video. Looked glorious. I do like the odd horrific one though just to mix it up as long as you’ve got the right gear. But not too often, can suck the fun out of it if it’s always wet, windy and grey. Going to add this hill to the list to visit. Looks a nice flat camp with great views.

After a few rainy and snowy camps I’ve definitely come to the decision that calm weather is better. I prefer putting out content like this even though it’s not as popular as my heavy rain videos. I’m glad people are agreeing with the best time of the year to go camping. Summer can be good to allow more time for bigger trips but I do enjoy camping at this time of the year👍 Thanks ATB Gaz

Hi Gaz, lovely video as always chap. Just wondering as it’s coming round now into prime tick season what you’ll be doing to combat them when you’re out. My friend and I got absolutely ruined in torridon last year, I then went to Skye and was fine but going back torridon soon and hoping to avoid them other than the normal odd one or two! Cheers :)

I’ve been very lucky when it comes to ticks and I’ve only ever dealt with 1. I did mainly do routes on paths last year so that might of helped a little. I just wear long trousers all year round and carry tick remover tools. Always make it a habit to check for ticks when you get home too. Enjoy your trips this summer👍 ATB Gaz

@@GazTheExplorer ah you are lucky!! We managed to get literally over 30 on each of us in torridon. We had our socks tucked in so wasn’t initially too bad but trying to pick them off individually wasn’t completely successful leading to a pretty traumatic following few days haha!
