Idk man, sounds like you just started to love it’s mistakes as much as the things it’s actually had going for it. I don’t love it but I don’t hate it, I see its appeal but by no means is this a “masterpiece”. If it is for you, I can’t deny it. I saw this movie at the right time in life. I was 13 & saw it in theaters. This movie blew my mind. The comedy was perfect for my age range. The action was awesome. And the future world it's set in was absolutely astonishing. The Fifth Element really left an impact on me & will always be my favorite movie of all time.

"What's the point?" is not always a question with an answer. Sometimes a movie is a two hour trip to another world, and that immersion is perhaps the point. It doesn't always matter that the story or tone doesn't add up.

You should check out one of her earlier films, it's a German action film called "Lola Rennt" or "Run Lola Run." It's actually pretty good.

One of my fave films of 1997! i saw this in theaters 3 times when i was turning 15 and dug it! one of my fave sci-fi action comedy films and it's like the Guardians of the Galaxy of it's time. Check out Leon The Professional and Nikita as well.

Even as a kid I felt the plot didn't make a lot of sense because it seems like the story just randomly starts but I still love it. The characters are a lot of fun and the world building is amazing.

Most couples have a "song" if my wife and I have anything it would be this movie. We each had a copy of this movie that we would watch together over the phone for our date nights when I was in military. It's still one of my favorite movies not strictly because of nostalgia.
