I found your channel doing some research on the Solstice. Really nice job that you did. You make it look easy. Beautiful car and from what I've seen for sale you have a great deal with the small investment you put into it. I know our time is money but that's part of the fun. ~Pat

I just paid 7500 for an 08 with 61k miles. You did an awesome job, worked on a cool project, and now have more experience for your next build. I'm a bit jealous. Not to mention you have an awesome ride. Nicely done

$4500 on a car like that is awesome. It takes work but worth 10x in fun. You could easily double your money she looks so good now. Hope you kept it.

@@rebuildit thats why i found it funny. I got my first one off ebay in texas. Drove it back to iowa. Nearly froze to death lol. Could be the small cabin, but they sure blow cold.

Loved the series I have two an 08 and an09 both gxps Both envious green with light side tops and five speeds It was a great way to kill the last couple hours watching your rebuild Great job

I own a 07 Pontiac Solstice GXP definitely a fun little car to have to be honest! Great piece of Pontiac history to own. Kinda sad to see people hate on them even if it’s just the base model instead of the GXP in other videos hahah. Great job though the car came about beautiful!! ☺️

Thanks. We are in the process of looking for either a GXP or a Redline wrecked to rebuild. Have seen a few come through the auctions, but most have higher miles than we would like. Thanks for watching our channel!

Nice video and nice rebuild! To me time is money...so if you could have gotten what you have for say $10k, then figure out your hourly rate...10-4.5=5.5k, $5500/200 hours? (how many hours did you spend?) = $28/hr for your time (that's about $56k/yr if you did it full time). I have no idea how much time you spent though. Was that worth it? Depends on why you did it, if it was just a hobby you love, you make money of the youtube channel, etc. If you enjoy it then yes, it's probably worth it. It would be fun if you showed profit/total hours (or if you don't sell it, what you think you could get for it).

Loved this series. I have a 2006 basic. Miles are a bit north of 130,000 miles. Not sure what to do with it. It may require internal engine work. Any suggestions?

@@rebuildit When I start her up, I hear a rattling sound coming from inside the engine. As the car is idling the sound disappears but it quickly returns when I put it in gear and begin to accelerate. It becomes prominent as I I am driving normally whether in town or on the highway. What mechanic hooked it up to his diagnostic instrument and concluded that there was compression problems and possibly timing chain issues

That doesn’t sound good. If it is a timing chain, that would be feasible to repair, but if you have them do a compression test and it shows low compression on any cylinder, it probably would not be cost effective to repair it at 130,000 miles. Hopefully, it’s a timing chain!

Do you have a total on the number of labor hours you put in to the rebuild?

No. I kept track one time and it was really depressing because I had more labor in it than the car was worth! But since I just do it for a hobby, it’s ok. I do it to learn and enjoy seeing the finished product.
