FAQ:
Q: Can gyro be used on consoles?
A: Yes, but it's only available on a limited list of games. If you want it for your favorite game, ask the developers about it.
Q: Can I use your configs on non-steam games?
A: Yes! Just change the name of the non-steam game to the steam ID of that game (that you can easily find on SteamDB), and you'll have access to all community configs. If the steam overlay doesn't work, try using a program called GLOSSI.
Q: Can gyro emulate the right analog stick?
A: It can, but it's not ideal. My configurations all emulate a mouse, unless stated otherwise.
Q: What is the name of the 3D Controller Overlay?
A: It's called 3D Controller Overlay (created by: ‪@larfingshnew6965‬) It's free!

Q: When I press the “home” button in-game, nothing happens. (PC only)
A: make sure that the drivers of your controller are active by going to: Steam, Settings, Controller, enable Steam Input for the controller that you are using.
Also, activate “Use Big Picture Overlay when using a controller” by going to Steam, Settings, In-Game.

pro-tip for easier menu navigation: make an action layer > give it a name like "menu" > re-assign all the controller buttons to their default/native button in said action layer. > go to gyro and set it to ‘disable’ > set LS outer-bounds to "remove action set = menu". > In the default layout that has the KB&M buttons assigned, add this action to the *select* and *start* button: "add action layer = menu". This way the B / O button will work as soon as you go into the menus. When you start walking full speed in the game, the KB&M controls re-activate.

Nice config. One idea, you could have directional swipe binds on the touchpad as a second d-pad. So you don't have to let go of left stick (or do the claw thing) to access those quick swaps.

Do you use some kind of a pad and put it on your knees so you can rest your controller for better stability, or is it simply a pillow?

I use a throw pillow, my folded up hoodie when on a desk, and other options. A soft resting place for your hands has worked very well for me. You can even use the material to dynamically alter the resistance to make more precise movements easier. It’s cheap and easy to try for yourself. Check it out and experiment.

Also a little KZbinr tip, you should defiantly title your videos with “gyro aim” instead of “motion controls” im super into gyro aiming and have no idea what “motion controlled are” You can also try somthing like “No Aim assist and my Aim is better than yours” or “who needs Aim assist when you have gyro?” A little more interesting. Sure! I'm thinking about how I'm going to do it tho. Because "best settings" don't exist, the best one is the one that you like the most. I think it will be more useful if people know what each setting does, so they can decide what works best for them. That said, I recommend the default settings with gyro "always on" and a sensitivity of 4 or 6. It's a bit faster than I would recommend on other games, but this game is just way too fast. The Finals doesn't have native support for Flick Stick, on consoles Flick Stick is only available on Fortnite, Call of Duty, Deathloop and Boomerang X. On PC you can use Steam to play with flickstick on almost every game.

No, unfortunately. There are some PS5 games that have this feature, like Fortnite, CoD:MW2, 3 and Warzone, Neon White, Deathloop, GoW: Ragnarok and many others. Devs just need to add this feature to their games, but not enough people ask for it, that's why this channel exists, to create an army of gyro players hahaha >:D

Even if the next Xbox controller has gyro, I’m only hearing that it will be used as a wake up feature. Looking at Microsoft’s history at innovation with their controllers, I’m not holding my breath for them to embrace motion aiming anytime soon.

have you not seen the last video from flick stick video's. If it is true what he said abou the new xbox controller then it will only have an accelerometer and no gyroschope. So again the controller will be useless to help in getting motion controls more popular and into more games.

@@caleasthetic Ugh. That’s too bad. I heard mixed reports that it may have only had an accelerometer (some of the articles I read did say gyro). I guess this latest news seals the deal. What is so irritating is people saying Sony won’t be supporting gyro much because the Xbox doesn’t… since when does competition work by ensuring you are just as featureless as your competition? Sony should be leaning on their gyro feature to crush Microsoft’s market share.

@@Creshex8 and the worst part is that alot of switch versions have gyro and then the ps5 version does not. And alot of developers that do implement it seem to use analog gyro instead of mouse like gyro. If you know the difference between how analog handles the game camera (analog is acceleration based) and how a mouse handles the game camera (a mouse is displacmenet based aiming), then you know analog / rightstick gyro has deadzones and a minimum and maximum turn speed. So if yo move the controller fastern then the maximum turn speed of the analog camera, then the camera will decelerate. Look at the comparison video on resident evil 4 remake form flick stick video's to see the difference.

Do you play Valorant? if yes, do you have a config there?

Unfortunately not. Valorant has a very strong anti-cheat, that makes it impossible to make configs using Steam. You can play Valorant with gyro using a program called DS4Windows (free), or reWASD (paid). But you will need to set it up yourself :(

I suggested aim assist in shooters was like letting the computer steer for you in driving games… unfortunately, the typical FPS gamer thought “drive assist” was a fantastic feature you’d be stupid not to use. So don’t be surprised if you find people horrified that you’d ever take the training wheels off your bike.

The finals runs fine on Linux, prob is their EAC implementation. They straight up just didn't check the "work on Linux?" checkbox, and can fix it at will.

Sick video, but saying sim assist works against you with gyro aim is like saying sim assist on mnk is worse than raw mnk. Just not true. I think gyro sim is the way to solve the aim assist debate. The hard part is going to get people to switch. A lot of people like aim assist because it simplifies the whole aiming process. Put crosshair on character, right trigger, pull down. AA takes care of the rest more or less. Actually controlling every minute movement is really taxing on the subconscious. Kinda like driving a car. Sure driving is easy, but after a long drive it’s really tiring. Same exact thing with sim assist. Roller with sim assist is like taking the train when mnk is more like driving the car. I’m sure you’ve experienced im this yourself.

Thx! I say that aim assist works against you with gyro in the traditional way that aim assist is used nowadays. On Fortnite there is an AA exclusive to gyro that isn't nearly as broken as other types of AA. One type of assistance that can be really helpful with gyro is snap to target. But on most games, aim assist means tracking or slowing down your aim when close to target and those types really do feel like a magnet against your inputs (at least it did in my experience).

@@FlickStickVids I’m mostly talking about rotational sim assist. The other sim assists are fine tbh. I feel like sim snapping is kinda broken too though, but sim snapping with no rotational sim assist would be ok I guess. And I think the better you get at gyro the more you’ll agree. Or maybe not. I believe we should try to get to the point where every there is no assist and all inputs are completely raw. Anything inbetween will always cause concern for either side. Only way is to ban all non raw input.

2:06 no offense, but that was the most uncomfortable flick i have ever seen in my life. i don't think gyro is the future, the shake is a bit flaw of the input and your wrist is just not made for those movements. i don't have any idea what could come as close to a mouse as gyro, but the menu management with gyro is a nightmare if you want to go fast and comfortable. right now gyro is awesome tho and i know that acceleration could solve the space issue without having to put your sens too high and cause shake, but accel is not usable for games like osu (i'm not planning to play osu ofc, it just has a lot's of cursor movement scenarios) because if you want to move to the rhythm the time is changing how fast you need to flick to a circle. what i'm trying to say here is that accel might be good for fps games but i hate accel in menus and if i think that i have to use that with the gyro, i rather play with a mouse. i just want controller gaming to be as good as a mnk, i meant no offens to the gyro community.

I see, thanks for commenting. 2 things: 1. My flick there could definitely be cleaner, I do have a good excuse tho. I need to keep paying attention if my hands are in the frame while recording, which is very distracting and makes me noticible worse while recording. But that's just me. 2. About the rest... Actually, there is a better solution than to use accel. On Fortnite and on Steam new Gyro modes there is a tightening window feature, where slow movements are more filtered than fast big movements, keeping your sensitivity without the need for acceleration, it's super useful and makes super precise games like CS, Overwatch and TF2 actually playable (...for me). Idk if iHardScope is using this tho, he changed his config recently and he hasn't posted the new one yet.
