Years ago i was lucky enough to have a beautiful blue '69 Boss 429 and later a very cherry '67 Shelby 500. My Boss was featured in some hot-rod magazine. The difference between the two was close. The caution tag says: "Caution! Vehicle should be driven 25 feet or more at least every 25 days!!!" It'll be waxed & buffed a million times. But I don't think this one will be ever driven for the rest of it's life! Sure it will live and last longer than it's owners but with no purpose. They might as well get it framed like a photograph. Cars should be driven to be enjoyed & experience the goodness & feel! I just feel sad for this car. Must be the way the car feels too. It must be itching to get out there and blast off to the moon!!! :)

I have a guy I work with, as a young kid, his older brother had a 1969 white boss 429 and he was telling me what it was like to ride in it. He said the car was whiplash fast and spun the tires in all four gears at any speed. His brother blew the motor during a street race and a guy picked the whole car up for like 1500$ and ended up promising to pay and did not. My friend said the car had more power than anything he had ever ridden in. My question is how much was the original list price for the mustang in 69 and how much more was the 429 instead of 428 option cost. thaks and great car.
@MustangConnection19 жыл бұрын
DIOSpeedDemon Hey thanks for that cool story and checking out the video, there are many more Boss 429's on here so please check them out. As for the for the original cost they would have sold for $1208 over the base Mach ! Mustang so around $4500 in '69. The CJ option was $267 for non Ram air and $420 with Ram air. The 428 CJ option could be had in all 3 body styles where as the Boss 429 only came in a Fastback body style and they were essentially converted Mach 1's.
@Jgeneraledger239 жыл бұрын
DIOSpeedDemon The Boss'9 was huge money back in 1969; it was well over five thousand dollars, which could buy a Cadillac back then. In today's money, it would be like paying close to fifty grand for a new car; something not many people do...

@MustangConnection19 жыл бұрын
jhepb They are called "lunchpail" parts and assembly line parts are sometimes the very same as NOS, sometimes not. In any case when production ended the left over parts ended up being distributed in a variety of ways so there is no telling the origin of these assembly line parts.

The carrier hooks are absolutely not part of the car they belong to the carrier company,and that's where they are supposed to stay. that was a P.D.I. mistake at the dealership,i know I used to haul cars all over the country,and I'm in agreement with many others,,why ruin a car that is all original and in beautiful condition,this is a restoration that was not needed... still a fact however that it is a quality job,,and very correct,,with the exception of the overspray on the undercarriage,Ford removed all the over spray,,or they simply blacked it out. never the less the car looks as if it just was shipped in from the ford plant,,so good job pat pat,,as i am in agreement it is only two points off from a perfect restoration,,but that doesn't neglect the fact that it was not necessary,,and I myself would have left it all original,,i would have been very proud to have had a piece of History..now it is simply a restored Mustang Mach and one of many,, when it could have been one of a kind thank you for allowing us to view it.

**How did the rubber, plastic, vinyl not dry rot after 45+ years?** I've seen modern cars sit for 1-2 years, and in that short time, the car basically starts falling apart due to dry rot, etc. My mom bought a new car in the late 80s, but kept her previous car which was maybe 6-7 years old, and in under 2 years of sitting in her driveway in northern Delaware, it went from a good running car worth at least $1500 to a non running, worthless pile of garbage that she had to pay to have towed away! How did this 48 year old Mustang NOT seem to suffer ANY ill effects after sitting for 25x longer?? Was it placed in a suspended animation chamber, like in the Aliens movie? Lol

Nice car for sure, but if it was so nice before, then why restore it? Why not just clean, detail, make a few small or needed repairs and be done? A car like that is only truly original ONCE, and over-restoring it will not bring that back, regardless of using NOS parts.

Ford wants Majorly to take credit for the Boss 429 Mustang but was Hollman and Moody who brought the car to life and bein told there are a few SN 95 bodys that have the Boss 429 in them and are Ungodly also its a Shame Ford had to get Gready with the plastic Ford motors today Plastic intakes that crack timing chain rails and More Ford dumped the real motors Windsors as well as the 385 big blocks meanin 460s sad but True and its like they say you can't fix Stupid

The first Boss 429 I personally saw was a 1970 model. It made a big impression on me, where you just stand there looking for an hour. There are lots of cars that look good painted red, but very few cars that could pull off that Boss blue and still look so.... macho I guess is the best word.
