Demolition ranch tested it years ago with a house of cards and it didn’t even generate enough wind to knock that down. Bullets are aerodynamic. The whole goal is disturb the air as little as possible so the air disturbs its path as little as possible. If you had a parachute (somehow) moving that fast, you could probably generate enough concussion to injure somebody. -an engineer that happens to love guns
@an29395 ай бұрын
I doubt anything will happen, a penetrator is basically a big, supersonic toothpick, the point of having a sabot is that it'll fit a 120mm barrel but you can shoot out a smaller, faster projectile that disturbs less air and fly out further than a full caliber round. It's like pushing the water in a pool with the side of your hand instead of the palm or the back of it. You push less water but you can move your hand through it much faster. That's a part of why modern tanks can fight at a greater distance than their WW2 counterparts.
@filmandfirearms5 ай бұрын
@@an2939 That's true, but it's also worth noting the mass and velocity of that supersonic toothpick. While it might be narrow, something that heavy moving at supersonic speeds is going to cause quite the shockwave. Just how bad that would be, I don't know, but it would definitely be significant

A neighbor of mine who also got me into shooting as a kid worked a Picatinny Arsenal, Fort Benning, and later Quantico, where his job was evaluating and accurizing various weapons systems. He was as you might imagine a pretty damn good shot. One of his hobbies was buying clapped out old surplus Mauser’s and turn them into tack drivers. Anyhow after he finished the initial build he would tinker with the rifle to achieve its best accuracy and then he would start installing various different muzzle brake designs that he had “dreamed up” and made in his basement workshop. He was a firm believer that a good rifle should be accurate without a muzzle brake/flash suppressor and that the addition of these items to a rife should not negatively impact (change) the rifle’s accuracy but improve it by making the rife more controllable and comfortable to shoot for the shooter. My reason for posting this is in the hopes Brandon might see it and do a video of his AK50 in a lead-sled or similar rifle shooting rest and shoot the AK50 without a muzzle device installed to demonstrate the rifle’s accuracy and shooting characteristics and then repeat the test with various muzzle devices installed from everything from a simple AK style Slant-brake to various other styles of AK muzzle brakes and then onto other styles of muzzle brakes including a scaled up version of a Cutts Compensator, as well as drilling porting holes in the barrel past the gas block, Magna porting of the barrel as well as a combination of porting the barrel and installing a muzzle brake / flash hider.

Indeed! I think most of the parts could be readily mass produced as they are. From what we've seen, that hand guard is the prohibitive part; Titans of CNC went through an excruciating process just to make that one example. @FuzedBox4 ай бұрын
@@haykmeghavoryan5717 Why should it return to its so-called "roots" when it is a perfectly modern derivative? All modern AK variants from the motherland have stocks and handguards that are predominately made with polymers. Brandon's is in milled aluminum, which is far and away more premium than either option. It's in fact TOO premium for production. Hell, the buttplate is the polar opposite; it's 3D fuckin' printed. Yes, wood would look ICONIC, but the AK"M" is no longer "modern", even from (especially from) its homeland's perspective. Perhaps a production run could be done with carefully sculpted, fit, and finished wood features, but it would be an ultra-premium option with no real benefit aside from pleasing AKM autists. Injection molded polymer with aluminum reinforcement is the most modern and economical solution for the handguard, and the reinforcement would be unnecessary for a simply molded buttplate/stock. Your view of an "AK" is skewed by the traditional image, of which the platform has long since evolved away from, so why should the AK-50 adhere to that? Because you want it to have that iconic '50s look? Oh fuckin' please. Miss me with that shit.

i remember firing the old .50 caliber machine gun mounted on an apc and a tripod. the barrel was oversized and the kick on that thing was something else. on the apc, the whole vehicle would bounce. on a tripod, you had to put sand bags on the feet to hold the tripod down. it had a trigger that you fired with two hands. you couldn't really aim. you just pointed it down range and fired adjusting your aim by following your bullets. that would heat up a barrel red hot. we had to carry extra barrels, because they would melt if you did not change them. the over sized barrel caused the bullet to tumble coming out and tumbling bullets are vicious

The giggle factor on this one was off the charts! Well done! That barrel whip looked like it was pretty violent on the optic, too. Can't imagine that was good for the life span/ability to hold zero. The new brake obviously eliminated that, too. Well done!

And inspect the rounds carefully before use. Then the accuracy and consistency of it. Please wear body armor and have people on standby for when something goes wrong. Thanks for making great content as always, and i wish you the best of luck. Great work on the AK50. You put alot of work in it and made alot of models to test the safety and overall functionality and strength of all the parts and material. 🎉🎉🎉🎉congratulations on achieving The AK50

Hello Brandon. I am from russia and i've been following your content here and there for a while. Today i've turned 16, and went to the gun range for the first time. I fired the ak, mosin, beretta and a AR(i couldn't aim those ironsights, im an AK enjoyer). and i must say this: you have had a very big influence on me as a person, for which i'm very thankful. Yesterday while on break at work, I was watching this video with headphones on, in the employee lounge. And apparently, someone was looking over my shoulder, because not 20 minutes after I clocked back in, someone from HR and a dude from security came over to my work area, and said that they needed to speak to me. Someone reported that I was watching something, "Violent and dangerous.". I was flabbergasted. People are crazy, man.

Ok,...so we need to see the AK50 compete against the Barrett M-107 and the Serbu BFG50A and the GM6 Lynx. Maybe even a Pauza if you can locate one? Would also be cool to see Brandon and Mark Serbu nerd out together in the machine shop over the AK50's development and the BFG50A as well, comparing notes. In the competition video, you could have the shooters/competitors partaking in stages meant to test the strengths/weaknesses between the different models. Obviously one would be an accuracy portion;...say, best groups at 1000 meters. Another would be a speed course, to see which rifle had better follow-up shot capability;...say, moving IPSC targets at 200 or 300 meters. And then the final stage could be a sort of Ranger assault course, testing how fatiguing humping each model is vs. the others as shooters/competitors have to get to distant shooting positions and engage targets for both time and accuracy,...perhaps even on movers,...maybe even doing a small house-clearing stage. Heck,...get Gun Jesus involved and make it a special "BMG Brutality" match. Bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha,...I'm so evil.

I wish I could telepathically show you how proud I am of how far you've gone. Most people who start a project like this, never finish. At best, they post a video about why they *didn't* push on. I have to be honest; that's what I was expecting when you first started this project - a respectable failure. But *damn* do you over-deliver. Not only did you finish the 50, but you've also made some of the most *fire* videos on this entire platform in both entertainment and education, you stepped up and fought the bullshit politicans with an end result that should not be possible, you've been transparent and steady on updates and regular uploads, and you're a damn good role-model. *Thank you.* All that's left to ask is; what's next? AK-20? AK-40mikemike? Presidency? Regardless of what's next, we can all rest assured; we'll be blown away by the result.

I can't explain how impressed I am. That is legit the most sick 50bmg platform there is in existence. It's so clean, it's so cool. The OAL, the fluted barrel, I love it all. The one weird thing is how slow it appears to cycle, I wonder how it compares to the Barrett. But that doesn't detract from it at all, it's just something I noticed. The coolest thing you can do with the AK50 is start producing them and put it on the market. I'd need someone to stop me from selling my car to buy one

Brandon , as a young man like yourself I tried many interesting theories / myths etc just to see for myself ' what if I '.....and one fun thing I noticed was when firing a solid .22 bullet into a decent block of beeswax , i could make the projectile climb the rifling grooves in the pill as it gouges the wax and actually curve out of the wax to hit a target off to the side , quite predictably after some practice lol , I wonder if that beautiful . 50 would do same in a big enough block of beeswax ??
